While it seems unbelievably foolish that Jesus' followers would not expect Jesus' resurrection, I wonder how many times we have held the same beliefs. We pray over our dreams but never believe they will come to fruition. The desires that God has placed inside of us languish in the graveyard where we keep them locked away from the light of day. God has promised to fulfill our destiny time and time again, yet we never live in expectation. All we can see is reality. The cross we are called to bear is the only vision before our eyes. Walking out of the tomb is not a reality we dare dream of. The power that raised Jesus back to life is the same power that God longs to pour out on us. Resurrection power is available if we stop living in the tomb. The stone has been rolled away. Rays of light flood the entrance. God is calling us to rise up and step out of the tomb into our destiny. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/biblical-insight/message

The reasons for the giving of the law of God are multifaceted. In Judeo-Christian tradition, the giving of the law, particularly the Ten Commandments, is understood to serve several purposes: 1. Moral Guidance: The law provides a moral framework for human behavior, outlining what is right and wrong according to divine standards. It helps guide individuals and societies toward ethical living and harmonious relationships. 2. Identification of Sin: By delineating specific commandments, the law highlights human shortcomings and sinful tendencies. It reveals areas where individuals fall short of God's standards and need redemption or forgiveness. 3. Legal and Social Order: The law establishes a legal and social order that governs the conduct of individuals within a community. It sets boundaries for acceptable behavior and provides a basis for justice and accountability. 4. Covenant Relationship: In the context of the Abrahamic faiths, Judaism, and Christianity, the giving of the law is often associated with the establishment or renewal of a covenant between God and His people. Obeying the law signifies fidelity and commitment to this covenant relationship. 5. Education and Instruction: The law serves as a means of instruction and education, teaching individuals about God's character, His expectations, and the principles of righteousness. It provides a basis for spiritual growth and understanding. 6. Condemnation and Conviction: The law also functions to convict individuals of their sins and their need for repentance and reconciliation with God. It exposes the reality of human sinfulness and points to the need for redemption through faith and grace. Join us as we discuss why God gave the law and how the law applies to our lives today. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/biblical-insight/message

Have you received an unexpected gift? A gift that you know you did not deserve or earn. How did this gift make you feel? If you are like me, it probably made you feel uncomfortable and thrilled at the same time. Although I am uncomfortable because I know I do not deserve the gift, I am delighted because I enjoy being surprised. In Matthew 7:11, Jesus says, "If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!" We have received the jackpot from God. A gift that can never be surpassed. I know I don't deserve it and can't earn it. God has provided a way for us to be made righteous before Him. This week, we'll explore God's blessing in Jesus Christ on the Biblical Insight With Pastor Joseph podcast. Together, we will unwrap the gift that changed everything. Salvation is the greatest gift that has ever been given or will ever be given. Even though we have tried our best to reject this gift, God continues to extend it to us. Romans 5:8 tells us, "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." No matter how sinful we are, God loves us. He rejects sin, but He loves us - sinners. Seeking to show us how much He loves us, God sent His only begotten Son to take our place as a sacrifice for sin. As a result, Jesus received the sentence with our names on it, and we received the gift of eternal life. In our modern culture, salvation is too often overlooked. We seek to emphasize the visible over the invisible—the perishable over the eternal. We focus on this old world and the distractions it can offer instead of God and the new world He has waiting for us. We like to live as beggars when God has royalty awaiting us. Whenever our spirit seeks to translate us into the supernatural, our flesh seeks the ghetto. Like Eve, all we see is momentary advancement instead of living for lifelong achievement. Why should we live as outcasts when God has ordained us as His children? Why give up Heaven and eternity with our Father for the slums? The gift of salvation has been extended. All we have to do is open our hearts and accept it. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/biblical-insight/message

I've heard it said that how you finish your Christian walk is just as important as how you started it. Everyone who places their faith in Jesus and His finished work on the cross begins on the narrow path, but not everyone succeeds. It is too common for individuals to fall off the highway of holiness. In the end, they cannot resist the lure of this life. Little by little the devil leads them away from their first love. Instead of placing God at the center of their lives, they place the idols of this world on the throne. These individuals seek to quiet their restless souls and indulge in distractions that occupy their time and attention. This week's episode, on the Biblical Insight with Pastor Joseph podcast, explores the curves of the Christian walk that often trip up servants of Christ and transform them into servants of the devil. Diluting the Gospel with works is an age-old tale that is still being woven into today's fabric. Refusing to accept the finished work on the cross as sufficient for Salvation wayward souls plunder into the wilderness of sin. This story is not much different from the children of Israel. With selfish preservation and pride, they diluted the law of God after being rescued from Egyptian bondage. The generation that left Egypt gradually drifted away from their first love. Heaven cannot be earned through works. Your best effort is filthy before God. The blood of Jesus is the only thing that can guarantee your eternal security. If you try to work your way to God, you will end up empty-handed and wandering in the desert. Except for Caleb and Joshua, all the children of Israel who left Egypt never reached Canaan. Their works left them empty handed wondering in the wilderness for forty years. Yet, we gloss over this account. It's as if we turn a blind eye to warnings placed in the Bible for our instruction and correction. As a result of this reaction toward God's revealed will, we run the risk of repeating the mistakes of previous generations. Finishing the Christian walk is the most important part of life. Nothing can compare to this accomplishment. Living with God for all eternity is the goal of everyone who sets out on the narrow road, but only a few achieve it. The outcome of your Christian walk will be determined by your engagement with the Bible. You can't navigate your way to Heaven without a roadmap to Heaven. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/biblical-insight/message

In the book of Matthew Jesus tells us that whoever does not take up their cross and follow Him is not worthy of Him. This is a very blunt statement. Those who do not conform to the shape of the cross cannot be members of God's family. Like Jesus, we must be defined by the cross. The cross proclaims the selfless act of one man, Jesus, who took upon himself the sins of the world so that the world might have peace with God. Self-denial and sacrifice mold us into the shape of the cross. The cross is the only shape we are left with after giving up all the oddly shaped elements of the world. We are left with the basics of living - loving God and loving others. There is no room for ourselves in the cruciformed life. The cross only points vertically toward Heaven and horizontally toward our fellow man. Sacrificially pouring out oneself for someone else is not something to take lightly. Jesus said to count the cost before following Him. As you allow the Holy Spirit to mold your life into the shape of the cross, you will experience pain. It will cause you to see the real you. That part of you that refuses to let go of the things around you. Transformation comes at a cost. For the Holy Spirit's work to be perfected in your life, you must give up everything. Nothing can be left behind - it all must be laid on the altar. Your life will only take the shape of a cross when the Holy Spirit has complete control. God requires total surrender because He knows only a surrendered heart will be receptive to His plan. On this week's Biblical Insight With Pastor Joseph podcast, we discuss the cross as the centerpiece of Christianity. Through the cross, we find our identity in Christ and His finished work. Through the cross, we take courage in our daily struggle against the flesh that rails against the Spirit-led life. The cross is our anchor, identity, and source of hope. Our existence wouldn't be complete without the cross, since we were created for God's glory. Christ's work on the cross allows us to fulfill our God-given destiny - glorifying God through our existence. When God sees us He sees the sacrifice Jesus offered on the cross and this brings glory to Him. To become like Jesus, we must take up our cross deny our flesh, and live a life of obedience to the One who made us to bring Him glory. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/biblical-insight/message

Our topic for this week's Biblical Insight With Pastor Joseph is The Truth of the Gospel. Why is it essential to be grounded in the truth of the Gospel? False doctrines can easily lead us astray if we are not grounded in the true Gospel. False doctrines can be cloaked in legitimacy. There is a nugget of truth in almost every lie. This is what makes this fallacy so dangerous for Christians. The devil can trick us into believing false doctrine by threading it with truth. If we are not familiar with the Gospel or our Bible, we will fall for the enemy's tricks every time. The belief that baptism leads to Salvation is an example of false doctrine. While baptism is a sacred ordinance of the church, it is not a means of Salvation. Jesus' death on the cross is the only means of Salvation. The sacrifice of Jesus is all we need to be justified before God. To say that baptism is necessary for salvation is to say that Jesus' death was not sufficient to atone for our sins. This is blatant blasphemy. As a result of our belief in the finished work of Jesus on the cross, baptism serves as an outward expression of an inward work. Putting our faith in the blood of Jesus that cleanses us from all unrighteousness, we are baptized in a public declaration of our private confession. Salvation is not dependent on baptism, but it can give you a wonderful opportunity to proclaim the transformation God has begun in your life. Often, we pursue careers, hobbies, and families at the expense of our Christian lives. The pursuit of careers, hobbies, and families isn't wrong, but they can become idols if we allow them to hinder our walk with God. Too many Christians are ignorant of true doctrine because they waste their time chasing idols. Let me remind you the things of the world will fade away. The only things that will remain are eternally established by God. Why spend your time entangled with the affairs of this life when you have an eternal life to prepare for? You need to be well-versed in the true doctrine of the Christian faith so you can withstand the onslaught of false doctrines that surround you. Stop spending time pining after worldly distractions instead spend time engaging in God's Word so you can withstand the fiery darts of the enemy.
