Two cat loving friends that love to chat about video games, cats, and technology. While much of what we discuss on a weekly basis is geared towards gaming, we do tend to go off-topic at times!
Another week of gaming news and nonsense coming your way. Blizzard is in the news for being idiots, PS5 website launches and is expected to share information in either February or March, Square Enix launches a new trailer of Final Fantasy 7 (still expected for April) and Platinum Games is announcing something but we're not exactly sure what it is. Their website has some clues and there is a good bit of speculation. Do we have a virus pandemic among us? It's hard to say but it is impacting the Chinese League of Legends Pro Series as it has been suspended! We've got a few other topics for you this week as well, such as some new information on Godfall or how Konami is apparently bringing back the Silent Hill series. We get some insight from Pat on the new Riot game, Legends of Runeterra which he is naturally obsessed with. It doesn't take much... make a card game and have it related to League of Legends and it's basically a guarantee that he's onboard. Some good news for Doom fans this week since ID Software (though part of Bethesda) isn't exactly following the Bethesda model, which we can all benefit from. It's a good week, we're glad to be here and enjoy this week's episode. Apologies for the missed Episode last week, Chris got tied up in Path of Exile... he doesn't regret it. Games are getting delayed left and right at the moment after Square Enix announced the delay of Final Fantasy 7. It's coming in rapid-fire and it almost seems like there is something else happening out there that we're not all aware of. It's strange but ultimately, it's fine we'd rather these games be the polished masterpieces we're expecting, right? We've made it to another year and another decade. It's been fantastic having all of your support for 2019 and we plan to continue to grow the show and improve upon it in 2020 as best we can! This week was rather short, we had to pump it out quick. You'll hear us talk a bit about Patrick's progress through DMC5, the upcoming CES that's happening right now, and we talk about some free games that are coming your way during January that you may be interested in. Also, check out Awesome Games Done Quick, this week - here is the link. The biggest news of this week has to be that Patrick finally bought Devil May Cry 5 and tells us how he likes it so far. That's pretty special since it is one of his favorite game series of all time. We keep this episode pretty sure, we had partying to do and we talk a bit about the Don't F*ck With Cats series on Netflix a little more since Pat has watched it since last week's episode. We hope everyone has (had) a wonderful, safe new year. Let's get on to 2020 and make it a great on. We're back, sorry we missed last week. Chris has been under the weather but we're back to recording as usual. Decided to hold off on recording (more like forgot) until Christmas Eve, the show must go on and so we've delivered you this Christmas episode. We'll go over some of the holiday's deals out there right now, discuss a bit of new as well as Netflix shows we'd (cat and video game-related!) We hope you all have a wonderful, safe holiday season. We'll be back again next week to bring you into 2020 and talk about closing the books on 2019. This week we've got some strange news stories involving a US Congressman, 2k creating a new studio to bring back BioShock, and Redbox is getting rid of their game rentals but we're more confused as to how Redbox is still a business, to begin with. We discuss a bit of the upcoming Starwars movie, The Witcher on Netflix, and a few other odd topics. Wrapping up this episode with Pat going too far into the Steam library to find a game we didn't need to know existed... Borderlands 3 DLC is launching on December 19th and it is much-needed content as far as we're concerned. We took a week off with the Thanksgiving Holiday but we're back and ready to wrap up the year of gaming. This week Patrick and Chris talk a bit more about some TV shows they've been watching. Chris has been obsessively playing Path of Exile in his free time and is very excited about the upcoming expansion in December. New gameplay surfaced for Diablo 4, it looks ... okay, nothing special. Final Fantasy 7 is confirmed to be getting a classic mode for those of you that love turn-based combat instead of the new action combat they've got! Lastly, Half-Life is coming back with a new VR game that looks really good. Games Discussed: Death Stranding, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Half-Life Alyx, Diablo 4, Path of Exile, League of Legends. In this week's episode, Chris discovered that Destiny 2 was F2P on Steam and he's never played it before so we talk about his experience with the game. Patrick abandons the Plant-Based lifestyle in favor of Wendy's, and we go through quite a few bits of news with Death Stranding, Stardew Valley and several more games. We get a bit side-tracked at one stage talking about the expected graphical update to World of Warcraft for the upcoming expansion in 2020 and how Chris would be more likely to try this game again if he didn't hate the visuals of it so much. Lastly, did you know politicians played League of Legends? Neither did we! Death Stranding, the long-awaited Hideo Kojima game, is finally here and after so much thought Chris actually ended up buying it and played it for a while this past week so we'll hear his thoughts on that. It has been receiving some mixed reviews from a lot of people so it is a hard game to determine if it is good or not. Beyond that, we hear an update from Patrick on his plant-based diet and what his plans are moving forward with this lifestyle change. Blizzcon is officially over so let's talk about the protest, apology, and of course the games that were announced this year though we had spoilers for several of the releases already. There are a couple of small bits of news this week (including stupid stuff from Bethesda again...) but we focus our time on Blizzcon and the reviews that have been rolling out for Death Stranding (Paperboy). Plant-based Patrick has arrived! This week we've got to talk about Call of Duty, Fallout 76, Outer Worlds, The Last of Us 2, and the upcoming BlizzCon event on November 1st and 2nd which very well may announce Diablo 4. One thing that is stupid about this week is that Bethesda continues to make enough noise that you just can't help but talk about them. Even after 1 year of Fallout 76 and countless horrible decisions surrounding it they still are managing to run that game into the ground right alongside their reputation. What was once a well-respected developer has become a freaking joke. Even worse now that Obsidian has released Outer Worlds and basically showed that they can do more justice to games in the Fallout genre than Bethesda can. Riot has announced that they've got several new games in the works (all based around League of Legend, of course) and we spend some time discussing that a bit this week. We talk briefly about Code Vein, Disco Elysium, Doom Eternal, as well as the normal games like League of Legends and Runescape. Blizzard once again has made its way into our show because they can't seem to figure out how to get out of this situation they've created for themselves and Blizzcon is coming up soon so we're looking forward to seeing what that's going to be like given all the backlash they've experienced the past couple weeks now. Don't forget PSN users... The Last of Us Remastered is FREE on PSN this month so make sure you pick that up if you don't have it or haven't played it. Amazing game, well worth it! Our shortest episode to date due to our last minute ditch efforts to get an episode out this week. We've both been traveling over the last week so it's been a little crazy but we're back and ready to get back in the swing of life. The good news is... Blizzard made it really easy to find some content for this episode with their recent backlash so we'll give you the run-down this episode of what's been going on with that. Other topics include the PS5 as we have more information around that, Microsofts Project xCloud is more widely available now for others to try, and Chris might be getting a dog? This week on PPG Chris ended up buying Code Vein so we'll hear a bit about his experience with this very Japanese Action RPG and some of the classic troupes that come along with it. We discuss Ghost Recon Breakpoint, it's terrible monetization and all the horrible reviews it has been getting since release. Pat asks Chris what he thinks about building a custom PC or buying pre-build so we'll discuss that near the end and what's an episode if Pat doesn't flip out at least once? We finally know when the Last of Us, Part 2 is coming to Playstation. Sony is dedicated to releasing this game on the PS4 with the PS5 right around the corner for next year (presumably). We're expected to see this game in February 2020 but it hasn't gone gold so the timeline could of course change but you know what has gone gold recently? Death Stranding, that's right - that popular Hideo Kojima game that we're all waiting to see and none of us have any real understanding of. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens in November. Also, Activision is releasing another Call of Duty... but that's not surprising but this one has P2W Loot Boxes! Honestly... still not surprising from Activision. We hope you enjoy this shorter episode and we'll be back next week. In the meantime check out our discord! We may have skipped our first episode last week (Pat was dying) but we're back and it has given us a week with Borderlands 3... so that is what we're here to talk about. Did any gaming news happen over the last two weeks? Sure but we don't care because of Borderlands 3. This episode DOES INCLUDE SPOILERS to an extent so keep that in mind while listening but we give you a breakdown of our person Pros & Cons of the game to help you decide if it is something you consider picking up. This week we brought on a special guest, Joe. He's been very excited for WoW Classic for months, constantly bringing up videos and articles within our discord so now that it has arrived we decided to sit down and talk to him about his experience with it. Has it lived up to his hype and what is next for this decade old MMO? After talking about WoW we discuss a bit about beer/wine and then get into more gaming news from the past week. This is a great episode, we hope you enjoy it and next week you know we'll be back talking about all things Borderlands 3. You want free games? We've got free games! Well... not us, directly but other companies have free games and we're going to tell you about them. We've got some interesting data about AMD and their GPU performance this week that we'll discuss, we talk about those old MMOs and how good they felt while we were younger - mentioning Wow Classic, of course. Pat is supposed to get a new keyboard this week which I'm sure we'll get updates on the discord for and Chris talks about Persona 5 way too much this episode... it does sound like he's really enjoying it though so can we really be that upset over it? Also... Borderlands 3 is so close and Pat drops a major bomb on Chris about picking a character. Speaking of which if you're going to be playing BL3 on PC during Launch day and want to play with us, let us know on the Discord! This weeks episode is a special one because we receive a special update from Pat on Runescape -- it's what we've all been waiting for! We also talk about some of the things happening around Riot with League of Legends Worlds coming up, the settling of their sexism lawsuit (outside of court) which both parties are apparently happy with and Riot has brought in a professional to try and fix their horrible work culture... do they really care though or just covering their asses? A little bit of discussion around Gamescom and some of the footage from that and we also discuss how Microsoft is probably listening to what you say when talking to your Xbox or Cortana... are you really surprised? New Switch game releasing on August 30th... Astral Chains! Looks sick and if you like Platinum Games then it may be worth your time! Welcome to another week of PPG and we are bringing you a different type of episode this week. Over the past couple months we've had questions asked on the discord and we haven't been neglecting them, but instead we've been letting them collect so that we can answer them all in a single episode of the show -- so welcome, to round 1 of the ask us anything episodes. This week we feel compelled to bring up the video game violence topic as it became a major issue since our recording last week. It doesn't get political though, neither of us want that but it does get a little weird. We discuss the Gold announcement of Borderlands 3, some bullshit from Take 2 Interactive and a few other nuggets going on in the gaming community right now but ultimately Pat shares something that causes a disruption in the flow of conversation and ultimately ruins the rest of the episode... if you want to see what that is, you can find it in the show notes on the website. Maybe we didn't prepare well for this episode or maybe, just maybe, the gaming industry doesn't have exciting news each week and sometimes the best we have to work with (beyond our own nonsense) is Ninja moving from 1 Streaming Platform to another with an exclusivity deal. We also cover the August games coming out which is sadly not all that exciting either! We do talk a bit about movies, which is not normal for us but it's brief and we get back on track. TLDR: Chris hates good movies. This week we're celebrating on passing 30 episodes by bringing in a guest! We haven't had a guest in quite awhile and our friend Alex was looking forward to getting back on the show so we've brought him back for another round! We'll find out what he's been playing this year, what his GOTY is so far, and what games he is looking forward to playing. As always, we've got some gaming and tech content we'll discuss and Alex was kind enough to bring some AYFKM "Are you f*cking kidding me?" topics for this weeks episode. In this episode we spend WAY too much time talking about headsets and microphones. Pat went down the rabbit hole of looking for a new headset as his cat (Ekko) has been nibbling on his current one. He is even willing to give up wireless functionality?! We also talk about Chris moving over the weekend and how it poorly impacted his cat (Houdini). Finally we hit the gaming news which has some interesting stuff about the predatory practices that gaming companies use to trick you into buying more content within their games. Title says it all this week... We're going to talk about G2A and some of the news surrounding them and why developers would rather have you torrent their games instead of buying them through G2A. We've got some other gaming topics to discuss and we cover Pats journey through this League of Legends tournament he's been in for several weeks now. Lastly, Massachusetts is trying to ban cat declawing - thank goodness! Pat is a resident of the state and will be looking into how he can support this legislation! NO SPOILERS for Stranger Things 3! I promise, we preserve the show for you -- hush hush is how we keep it on this one but we talk about recent new games purchased through the Steam sale, upcoming Anime and some light gaming news. This week we're making an effort to avoid all the bullshit negative issues happening in the gaming industry. Of course there is nonsense happening with large gaming companies we could discuss but it gets old and it's almost expected at this point for these companies to behave the way they do. Instead we shop on steam, which we didn't intend but we did it anyhow. We also discuss GDQ as they wrapped up another event (their biggest fundraiser yet!), and talk briefly about a few other topics like Chris' text based game he's been working on. In this episode we're talking about something that we take very seriously -- Cat Declawing. We bring it up due to the recent bill being passed in New York to make it illegal to declaw your cat in that state, which would make NY the first state in the USA to do this. Making this practice illegal should be done in all states and there are plenty of countries that do not allow it -- we should be one of them. Short episode this week! This week on the episode Pat and Chris both have some life updates happening and we even get some cat stories out of the way! A lot happened at Computex the previous week so we talk about those announcements and cover the recently announced Death Stranding trailer and release date for the game... which is landing sooner than expected. In this weeks episode we cover a flurry of short, meaningless topics that no one cares about. Chris tells us about all the games he's not playing because he managed to burn himself out of video games... probably from playing 200 hours of Warframe over the last 2 months. Pat starts Season 17 of Diablo 3 and basically hates it already, and we discuss some of the potential announcements for Computex 2019, but that's going to be more detail for next week. Lastly we discuss Pat and his gambling addiction -- goodness it is terrible. Another week of PPG is among us and this episode got off the rails in a big way -- as if we don't already do that enough during this show. Chris and Patrick discuss a bit about life updates, cats (RIP Grumpy Cat, sorry for the spoilers if you didn't know), and then get into the gaming news with Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, and finally wrapping it up with Mobile gaming. Wait a second though -- why is this label as Adult video games? Yeah. That's where we get off topic, we end up discussing adult video games for a good portion of the show and Chris talks about HuniePop -- which he claims is actually a good game despite the material it is based around! The episode 20 milestone is here and we're happy to have you here with us. We get to talk Randy Pitchford a little more this episode as he gets accused of assault and even though he typically enjoys putting his foot in his mouth and playing the victim about everything... he's oddly silent about this accusation? We're still excited for Borderlands 3 though, all the same. Final Fantasy 7 came out with a new trailer with VOICE ACTING and we discuss our thoughts on what we are expecting from the remake. We'll really get to see more during E3 in June -- fingers crossed that we get to see some Summons? Bahamut Zero? Odin? TYPHON? Finally Pat goes on a bit of a rage regarding League of Legends. Welcome to another week of PPG, we've got a lot to cover this week! Borderlands 3 Gameplay came out so we spend a good bit of time talking about our thoughts on what looks like a promising addition to the borderlands series. Gearbox Randy Pitchford loses his shit on twitter, which seems normal for him and Epic Games purchases the Rocket League Developer. This, of course, leads to all the review bombing you could ever want on steam... which we also talk a bit about because we. just. don't. get. it. Few other minor topics thrown in there for flavor and lastly Pat has some rage to get off his chest this week at the end, like usual! Welcome to another week and another episode of PPG. This week we have Patrick to thank for what a horrible improv episode this has become. He went on vacation and it turns out... Chris kind of did too -- at least, mentally. Regardless, we're glad you're here and hope you enjoy this weeks episode as we try to piece some kind of content together for you to consume! This week on PPG we hear about the upcoming vacation that Patrick will be taking and in the mean-time, a cat fight breaks out during the episode?! We cover some of the news that has come out regarding the disc-less Xbox One S, the Playstation 5 Specs, and the very dull gaming release schedule for May. At the end, it’s time for AYFKM (Are You Fucking Kidding Me) -- Chris has something to contribute this week but let's be honest... it's really about Patrick being the star of this segment with his salty tears. On PPG this week we’re looking at changing things up and adding a bit more structure to how we do the show so you know roughly what to expect on a week to week basis. This is a trial, we’re certainly looking for feedback on these segments and how you feel they impact our show. Like we’ve done previously, we’ll talk about gaming news, and gaming tech but some addition segments that are a little more organic and fun for us! Another fantastic week of 2019 and we're back once again with some more PPG. This week we've got some gaming news, like you'd expect but more important Patrick delivers a sweet Raccoon story to us that you wouldn't expect. Listen in for that, if nothing else. We also discuss Borderlands 3 becoming a 6 month exclusive for Epic Game Store, all the steam review bombing and what steam has done to assist with it, and finally we're going to talk a bit about what we've been playing and the upcoming Mortal Kombat 11 game releasing later in April 2019. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
Another week and another episode of PPG. On this weeks Episode we'll follow up a little bit about Chris' cat, Houdini, and some of the personality changes he's experience while she's been on medication. Patrick and Chris talk a bit about what they've been playing recently, as well as discuss Borderlands 3 and Risk of Rain 2 which was announced at Pax East this past week. Chris' tells about his potential trip to Thailand in 2020 and Patrick goes on a hunt for a new couch so his cat can rip it apart as soon as it gets delivered. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
This week on PPG we discuss the awesome announcement from Google at the GDC 2019, but Google isn't the only company getting involved into the Cloud Gaming arena so we'll discuss all the other projects going on including some beta testing that Chris got to do with GeForce Now. This could be one heck of a year for the gaming industry when I comes to the technology being used to make gaming more accessible to everyone. We'll also discuss the upcoming titles for April and what we're looking forward to seeing out there. Actually more excited of re-releases than some of the new additions into the gaming world for that month. Epic will also be in the conversation a little bit as they enter the news for lifting localized private information from steam clients which they haven't asked users for! That's a no no. In this episode of PPG we discover that Chris has a firm stance on student loans and he uses the podcast as a platform to rant a bit about his views on debt and how it relates to eSports. Granted, it does relate but who knew he was so opinionated? Right, we all did. We give an update on our cats this week since it's been a few weeks on that topic and Patrick gives an updated on his Apex ban that he talked about last week. On this episode of PPG we talk a bit about Devil May Cry 5 which finally arrived and looks fantastic! It's received some incredible reviews and though Patrick has been very excited we'll have to wait to hear his complete review on a future episode. Did we mention that Pat is banned from Apex Legends? Yeah, we'll cover that. Our main topic is a discussion about some of our favorite Retro games over the years, we get a bit nostalgic with each other on this one and it's a nice wholesome topic since we have a topic that isn't so wholesome lingering in this episode. We hope you enjoyed it - check out our website for links and notes to the games we discussed and join our discord to tell us about your favorite retro games! --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
In this episode of PPG we discuss our thoughts on Video Game Violence and how it has impacted us as individuals and what the studies say about it or is it just a political statement? We do a follow up between the two of us on what we've been playing lately and we get de-railed a bit by talking about Shadow, Cats, and some of the games coming out for March 2019. Chris also ends up telling us a story about being in a mark-up store? Honestly, what even is this episode. Thanks for listening though, we hope you enjoy it! --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
In this episode, we talk about some of the hardest boss fights we've experienced over the years but what we really discover is how much of a monster people can be without you ever really knowing. We'll also discuss a bit about Anthem, the newest game from Bioware, and Patrick will give some tips on improving your game play at Apex since he's a master. Basically. This week we have another special guest (Isaac aka Peggins) with us! We talk about eSports and the struggles of that competitive arena, but mostly the discussion is around League of Legends (NA LCS). Activision is once again brought up for, what seems to be, their toxic work culture that they've created and the mass layoffs that they are doing. We get the top 5 games from our guest, since we require that to be part of the show and we also talk a little bit about Houdini now that we've got back her blood work and she continues her anxiety medication. Disclaimer: There were some troubles with Peg's microphone during the recording of this session. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

In this episode our big topic is toxicity in gaming and why people feel a need to be so nasty to each other, especially in competitive games. We also talk about Diablo 4, Kingdom Hearts 3, Metro Exodus and their exclusive deal with the Epic Game Store. Little bit of time is spent talking about the potential of a new (cheaper) Nintendo switch coming up potentially by the end of 2019. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
In this episode we talk more about Final Fantasy X and the joint play-through we’ve started since the previous week. Resident Evil 2 is finally out so we talk in details about the thoughts and quality of that game and bring up Kingdom Hearts 3 once again, for some reason. We discover how Chris avoided botulism, what an idiot, and we talk about the current season of Diablo 3 - Season 16. In this episode we get some good news from Patrick on his cat, Ekko, regarding the health concerns from the previous episode. We also have our first guest with us, Alex, a friend of Patrick’s who is a fellow cat lover and avid gamer himself. He offers a lot of great conversation to this episode as we discuss the upcoming release of Resident Evil 2 Remake and pull apart the recent demo a bit. We also talk about Kingdom Hearts 3 as the release is coming up and Alex gives us his top 5 games of all time! --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
