The Last of Us Part II. Diskutera i smågrupper!

Cheyenne joins Ben this week to talk about a word that gets a lot of bad press, but in reality, it is a necessity in most activities involving progress and self-improvement. After conversing about what games they are playing (and discovering Ben's Hogwarts House), they dive right in to deep end and commence with the festivities. Topics explored: the “Epic Fail” meme, Tom Platz, CrossFit acronyms, the invention of Post-It Notes, John Cleese's speeches and educational videos, corporate culture, points of failure in engineering, stories about successes and failures in the academic settings, the roguelike and roguelite labels, and looping game mechanics. Games discussed this week are as follows—Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Infinity Nikki, Hogwarts Legacy, Uncle Chop's Rocket Shop, Papers Please, Plate Up, Baldur's Gate 3, Hades, Kenshi, Deathloop, Disco Elysium, Indigo Prophecy, Super Meat Boy, and Seaman. Finally, Ben and Cheyenne “tie a bow on it” with some words of wisdom and a couple of Spock references—the Star Trek character, not the pediatrician. *** 00:00:20 - A city of roses, serving up smiles, parking lot beatdown, Dragon Age: The Veilguard 00:02:35 - Mass Effect opinions, Ben likes the synthesis ending, Liara T'Soni, and Infiniti Nikki 00:06:40 - A cozy fashion battling platformer, getting homework at PAX, and impatient much? 00:08:48 - Thoughts on Hogwarts Legacy, mediocre story, and Cheyenne guesses Ben's house 00:11:11 - The new Indiana Jones game trailer, the nitty and the gritty, and a previous customer 00:13:01 - Ox Ford has a comma, Cheyenne's failure, person versus thing, and positive views 00:15:13 - The Google Ngram Viewer (no exceptions), the EPIC FAIL, and planking nostalgia 00:18:02 - The Tom Platz weightlifting philosophy, muscle building, and success through failure 00:20:53 - A tale of 3M's Post-It Notes, the John Cleese speech, and the Video Arts sales story 00:24:31 - The perception of mistakes in corporate culture, and the measure of an employee 00:28:17 - “In a world…,” Mr. Perfect's Plex, SPOFs and SPORs, and in failures in academia 00:32:20 - A bell curve, thoughts on grading, the architecture shoe, and teams on instruments 00:41:43 - Uncle Chop's Rocket Shop summary, 5 endings (not 4), and “not for all ages” humor 00:47:12 - Ben's least favorite descriptors, the rogue prefix, no barrels, and looping mechanics 00:52:00 - “Leveling” characters, weakness before strength, and broadening your knowledge 00:55:52 - Fireworks tampering, the thematics of failure, and “failure is preferred” scenarios 01:03:11 - Excessively difficult games, back to the rocket shop, wrapping up, and Star Trek *** Follow Two Vague on… Our website: https://www.twovaguepodcast.com On Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/two_vague_podcast On YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@twovaguepodcast On Substack: https://twovaguepodcast.substack.com/ On Bluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/twovaguepodcast.com For show appearance and other inquiries, contact us at: twovaguepodcast@gmail.com -AND- …for all of your PRI and 2VP merch check out the Partly Robot Industries store at TEEPUBLIC! https://www.teepublic.com/user/partly-robot-industries *** References, Links, and Tags For more information on Infinity Nikki, check out the official website! https://infinitynikki.infoldgames.com/en For more information about Uncle Chop's Rocket Shop, developer Beard Envy Games, and publisher Kasedo Games… https://www.unclechops.com/ https://store.steampowered.com/app/1849790/Uncle_Chops_Rocket_Shop/ https://www.beardenvy.co.uk/ https://www.kasedogames.com/ #Podbean #DIYPodcast #ApplePodcast #VideoGames #Trivia #Comedy #Talkshow #2VP #TwoVaguePodcast #PodernFamily #InterviewShow #GamersofThreads #Gamer #PartlyRobot #PartlyRobotIndustries #TeePublic #InfinityNikki #KasedoGames #UncleChopsRocketShop #BeardEnvyGames

Welcome to episode 47 of Shack Together! Our gaming adventures continue as I wrap up Astrobot with a decidedly above average score and subsequently dive into Yakuza Kiwami, while Greg Burke joins us to share his continued thoughts on Marvel Rivals. John's been splitting time between Marvel Rivals, Fortnite Ballistic, and completing God of War Ragnarök, while Asif maintains his ever-eclectic mix of Disco Elysium, F-Zero, Balatro, and (you guessed it) Marvel Rivals. Today's show, however, is dominated by the recent Nintendo Switch 2 announcement. We dive deep into the reveal, discussing our expectations for the launch lineup (including potential titles like Red Dead Redemption 2, Silksong, and Metaphor ReFantazio), backward compatibility concerns, and our hopes and fears for Nintendo's next generation of gaming. In Story Time, we cover a range of news including hands-on previews of Civilization 7 and Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, AGDQ 2025's impressive fundraising total, and Sony's intriguing AI player input lag patent. We also discuss the upcoming Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo release and TikTok's preparation for potential USA server shutdowns. And that's all for today's show! Thanks as always for listening and enjoy! This is Part 2 of the same night. If you listen closely you can hear the exact moment where McCoy's "2" beers hit and he becomes not sober. Then we deliberate about whether or not we should go to bed and then we go to bed. Episode 2 From ben via email: Ever been tempted by a Half Life/ Orange Box week? Which one of you, if any, has a beautiful luxurious beard? Or is it, as I suspect, that there is a communal beard that you share in rotation every week. From James via email: What is the game that has most impacted you to date (that you still reflect on)? What game would you like to memory wipe and play again? How would the podcast change if you suddenly got corporate sponsorships, etc.? How has your choice in game to play been affected by the podcast? From Curtis via email: James, did you have time to finish Disco Elysium? Any final thoughts? What are some of the all-time favorites and/or most formative games for everyone? From Mercedes via email: Obviously you guys love video games, but what other hobbies do you guys enjoy? What are some of your favourite books/ tv shows/ movies? Any plans to release more group playthroughs?
It's the week of Thanksgiving here in the states so we decided to take a little podcasting detour to talk about the games that we are most thankful for! These aren't necessarily our favorite games of all time but they all mean something important to us for one reason or another! Whether it helped shape our current tastes in games or put us on a new path in life, the impact these games had on us cannot be understated. **Please Note: We had an internet hiccup early on during the stream so there is shift in audio quality around the 16 minute mark.**

Time for one more bit of silly fun before we settle down to the serious business of 2024 GOTY picks? We certainly think so, as in this week's Indieventure episode, we're doing an indie game draft! That's right, three people who clearly know nothing about sports have nevertheless kitbashed the idea of fantasy football together with something we're actually interested in, and have designed our dream indie gaming consoles following a curious set of rules that Liam explains very well in the episode and so I won't repeat here, even though I do remember and understand them, honest. Due to the dramatic and intense nature of the game we're playing today, characterised as it is by shocking betrayals and twists nobody could ever see coming, I'm going to strongly recommend you don't read the show notes until you've listened to the episode. Does anyone even actually do that? Well, here's your chance to go in without spoilers. Seriously, go listen. Are you back? OK, good. So, since you've heard it now, you know that you, dear listener, have a chance to vote in our poll to determine the winner of the inaugural Indieventure draft slash console sales pitch! We'll have a poll up on socials for a week after the episode goes live because that's all Xitter will allow; but if you still want to take part after that, you can do so over at our lovely and still almost-brand-new Indieventure Discord, where the poll will be live for a whole fortnight and where you can also chat with some really cool and nice fellow listeners. As a reminder, then, the final console drafts were as follows: The MegaWatt Voyager, pitched by Rachel, and containing Paradise Killer, Kentucky Route Zero, Vampire Survivors, Hades, Cult of the Lamb, Hollow Knight, Loop Hero, Disco Elysium, Minecraft, and Undertale The Empathy Machine, pitched by Rebecca, which includes Heaven's Vault, Firewatch, Stardew Valley, Project Zomboid, Untitled Goose Game, Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, Wedding Witch, Dredge, PowerWash Simulator, and Strange Horticulture The Indiescovery, not confusingly at all pitched by Liam, pre-loaded with Return of the Obra Dinn, What Remains of Edith Finch, Balatro, Rimworld, Deep Rock Galactic, Hotline Miami, Slay the Spire, Journey, Satisfactory, and Hypnospace Outlaw It's all down to you now, listeners, to let us know whose dream machine you think has the best launch line-up and/or who made the most compelling case for their pitch! The poll is open for two weeks, so I'm sure we'll be reacting to the results in a couple of episodes' time. Now, we had so much fun recording this episode that two hours just flew by before we knew it, and so we've elected to skip What We've Been Playing this week because frankly if you've made it this far into all the madness then you've probably listened to us natter enough. That being said, it wouldn't be an episode of Indieventure without a quick run-down of our current hyperfixations, so hang around for just a few extra minutes if you want to hear us enthuse about the TV series Agatha All Along (Rebecca), the novel Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson (Liam), and the recently-released indie game Neva (Rachel). Our music was written and performed by Ollie Newbury! Find him on Instagram at @newbsmusic. Meanwhile, you can find us at indieventurepodcast.co.uk or wherever you listen to podcasts, and don't forget that you can now join our dedicated Discord too!
