We start with the launch success of 007: First Light, which reportedly sold 1.5 million copies within its first 24 hours. The title also comes with a staggering production budget of around $200 million, with Danish media calling it the country's most expensive entertainment export to date—highlighting just how high the stakes are for modern blockbuster game development.Next, fans of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt have something new to look forward to, as a long-rumored DLC titled “Songs of the Past” is reportedly in development. Set for a 2027 release, it's said to follow the same large-scale expansion style as the game's previous acclaimed story additions. In preservation news, the Stop Killing Games movement scored a notable win in California with the passage of AB 1921, also referred to as the “Protect Our Games Act.” The legislation is being viewed as an important step toward protecting digital ownership rights and preventing games from being permanently disabled or removed. Finally, industry icon Hideo Kojima made an unexpected appearance in a surreal AI-generated short film created for Prada. The collaboration blends fashion marketing with experimental AI media, continuing Kojima's long-standing interest in unconventional storytelling formats.Visit www.patreon.com/psthisisawesome to support the show and help us continue producing the content you love! Please, if you enjoyed the content — or even if you didn't quite enjoy this one — come back. Anthropic just shipped Claude Opus 4.8: warmer, a little smarter, same price. But the real story is Claude Mythos, the bigger AI model coming to everyone in weeks. This week on AI For Humans: Claude Opus 4.8 landed and it's a little smarter, a lot warmer, and somehow the same price. A solid but incremental bump. Then Anthropic buried the lede: Claude Mythos, an even more powerful model class held back only by cybersecurity safeguards, is coming to everyone in weeks. The upgrade you got isn't the one to watch. Plus: Amazon greenlights three generative AI projects and the haters rejoice (and threaten), ElevenLabs brings Stan Lee's voice to its Iconic Voices library, Hideo Kojima gets called out for AI, Spielberg draws his line in the AI sand, and Gavin unveils The Fishbowl, his small AI experiment.  THE NEXT ONE'S ALWAYS BIGGER. Welcome to Dev Game Club, where this week we continue our series on Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory. We cover lots of topics, delving into stealth and AI systems, objectives and their communication, and other thoughts. Dev Game Club looks at classic video games and plays through them over several episodes, providing commentary. Sections played: Another mission Issues covered: whether it was designed for a controller, graphic fidelity holding up, the fixed function shading pipeline, the crossover between audio and visual meters, what's going on with the light meter, ambient noise affecting how quickly you can move, adjusting eyesight, layering mechanics into a mini-game, sprinklers everywhere, hose extraction, trip lasers, using a body as a laser avoider, a key that isn't a key, interrogation mechanics, consequences for not interrogating, multiple paths to information, forgetting the vision modes, the marketing targets for particular consoles, dynamic mission objectives, motivating spaces through pattern language, having to mark up the world to tell you what's important, a digression into climbing anywhere, "what map?," not wasting space, clockwork levels, a globetrotting set of ops vs single-location games, Brett has a good point, contrasting flavors, just jumping in and having the briefings paper over travel, the attract mode, benefitting pacing. Games, people, and influences mentioned or discussed: XBOX, Pulp Fiction (obliquely), PlayStation 3, Clint Hocking, NOLF 2, Max Payne, Metal Gear (series), Three Men and a Baby, Poltergeist, Eternal Darkness, Mission: Impossible (series), Entrapment, Sean Connery, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Dishonored, Prey, Hitman, Die Hard, Assassin's Creed, Crazy Climber, Cairn, Jusant, Hideo Kojima, Reacher (series), The Gray Man (series), The Hunt for Red October, Quiller (series), Shadowlord-72, Kirk Hamilton, Aaron Evers, Mark Garcia. Things are quiet recently. It feels like we're waiting for something to pop-off; some new announcements, or tantalizing rumors, or whatever. We have a little of that this week, though -- perhaps as usual -- it's good news mixed-up with a few questionable items. Let's start with PS5 sales, which picked up substantially in the days leading up to the hardware's global price increase. We then move into the surreptitious release of once-hidden Grand Theft Auto Online numbers, which shows a game still making around $10 million a week, with around two-thirds of its playerbase on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. Then, we get into first and second party fare: More details about the unannounced (but heavily rumored) Faye-driven God of War spinoff, casting and performance capture details for Hideo Kojima's PHYSINT, word of a Bloodborne animated feature in the works, and a Metal Gear Solid film, too, both being steered by Sony Pictures. And did Insomniac's Spider-Man 3 get leaked, too? Inquiries from the audience help us round things out, as always. Why is PlayStation 2 Colin's least-favorite Sony console? Is there room for the point-and-click adventure genre in modern gaming? Will Xbox really go back down the path of exclusivity? This week on PS This is Awesome!, we dive into some of the biggest stories shaping the gaming industry right now—and a few that might have you raising an eyebrow. We kick things off with a candid (and somewhat concerning) revelation from a former Naughty Dog developer, who claims the studio has largely accepted crunch as a necessary part of making blockbuster games. Is this just the reality of AAA development, or a problem the industry still refuses to solve?Next up, Metro 2039 is officially set to be revealed during an upcoming Xbox livestream, giving fans of the series something big to look forward to. Meanwhile, Hideo Kojima's mysterious Physint is already turning heads thanks to a casting call describing a villain with serious “Mads Mikkelsen in Hannibal” energy—because of course it is.We also unpack new comments from former Bethesda exec Pete Hines, who sheds light on why he left ahead of Starfield's launch—and what he had to say about Microsoft's direction might raise some questions. On the lighter side, No Man's Sky continues its redemption arc with a wild Pokémon-style update inspired by a fan suggestion… and yes, they actually did it.Finally, we discuss Sony's new “Playerbase” initiative, which lets you scan yourself into Gran Turismo 7—but most fans aren't exactly thrilled. The Nerdpocalypse

After 20 years of development hell, Metal Gear Solid is finally becoming a movie with Final Destination: Bloodlines directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein attached, and Hideo Kojima doesn't appear to be part of the production. Netflix greenlights Extraction 3 with Chris Hemsworth and Idris Elba returning for summer 2026 production in Sydney and Europe, continuing Tyler Rake's story from the Extraction 2 cliffhanger. In a stunning admission, Disney and James Cameron are discussing making future Avatar movies "cheaper and shorter" after Avatar: Fire and Ash earned $1.4 billion with insiders calling the franchise "culturally exhausted" despite the massive box office. Jonathan Majors and co-star JC Kilcoyne fell six feet through an unsecured window on the set of his Daily Wire action movie comeback vehicle, with Kilcoyne requiring stitches across both hands; the incident sparked a crew strike after over half the production team walked off citing safety concerns including falling props, black mold, missing oversight, and a special effects supervisor with a prior explosives conviction, while producers responded by saying they "don't negotiate with communists." Amazon MGM Studios officially greenlights RoboCop series reboot for Prime Video under new TV chief Peter Friedlander, with Peter Ocko as showrunner and James Wan executive producing, reviving the franchise after years in development limbo and previous failed attempts at legacy film sequels. Plus: Cameron potentially passing Avatar franchise to younger director or finishing the story as novels, Lipovsky and Stein's hot streak includes Gremlins 3 and animated Venom movie, and the question of whether Avatar 4 and 5 need to happen after $6.7 billion across three films. Every story is either franchise resurrection, franchise exhaustion, or production chaos. The Nerdpocalypse is a weekly podcast covering the latest movie news, TV show news, trailer reactions, and pop culture commentary. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

There's some chatter about the new Faces of Death film (reviewed by yours truly here), though the bulk of our time is spent on Hideo Kojima, the legendary video game designer. We teased a periodic "Kojima Korner" segment months ago, so here it is, in all its strange glory. Between the Death Stranding and Metal Gear Solid franchises, there's a ton to cover. As always my friends and faithful listeners/readers, I do hope you all enjoy the latest episode of the Awards Radar Podcast, our 285th one to date (here's to many more). In other news, a new game for PlayStation Plus' April lineup as been leaked: Sword Art Online: Fractured Daydream joins Lords of the Fallen on the service. And finally, Microsoft will air their annual Xbox Games Showcase this June, and Gears of War: E-Day will get the coveted post-show spotlight treatment. This week on GameBurst, the team digs into a turbulent moment for the games industry, with fresh blows to both big studios and beloved franchises. Epic Games confirmed it is cutting more than 1,000 jobs — its second major round of redundancies in three years — as Fortnite engagement continues to slide and spending outpaces income. CEO Tim Sweeney was clear that AI had no role in the decision. Meanwhile, Nintendo has reportedly slashed Switch 2 production by a third following disappointing US holiday sales, with a thin software line-up taking much of the blame. In France, four Nacon-owned studios — including Spiders, Cyanide, and Kylotonn — have filed for judicial reorganisation following their parent company's own insolvency earlier this year, putting more than 320 jobs at risk across some of the country's most recognisable development teams. On a brighter note, Life is Strange: Reunion launches today, bringing Max and Chloe's decade-long story to a close with a complete, non-episodic experience. Mojang, meanwhile, had a big week: Minecraft Dungeons II was announced for autumn 2026, and a £50m Minecraft-themed land is heading to Chessington World of Adventures in 2027 — rollercoaster included. The GDC rebranded itself as the Festival of Gaming and welcomed Hideo Kojima back to the keynote stage for the first time in five years. In Pick of the Week, Gary shares his experience of his first live DJ set in Southampton, Jerome has been deep in Magic the Gathering: Commander, and Taylor picked up Thomas & Friends: Wonders of Sodor – Deluxe Edition. #gameburst

Welcome to Dev Game Club, where this week we continue our series on Ultima IV. We talk about the boat, we talk about dungeons (a tiny bit), we deep dive into NPCs and consequences, we talk about the quests and how everything is in the world, and answer some listener email. Dev Game Club looks at classic video games and plays through them over several episodes, providing commentary. Sections played: More of Ultima IV (Much more, in B's case) Issues covered: revisiting locations and finding new things, a game that does a lot with a little, everything existing in the world, getting to know the world, NPCs sharing sprites and being hard to remember, getting a ship and fighting your way on, broadside combat, dying to a waterspout, wanting to search the oceans, badly simulating tacking, riding a horse, being interrupted in any location, trying to replicate the tabletop experience, feeling like a "yes" game, whether what you do matters, can you be a thief, watering down a morality system, having a limited palette of options at any one time, layering frosting, taking out the friction and icky feeling, the niche audience of some RPGs, taking elements from older games and bringing them into modern games, asking questions of the player who is also the character, avoiding the uncanny valley, an aside into adventure mode, the horseshoe effect on NPCs, reaching the limits of what the human brain can contemplate, an aside into Dunbar's number, facing the same challenges, chunking chapters, feeling the anxiety of there being too much, coalescing your notes from time to time, the telescope moment and seeing the map, the lack of loot, preparing to do things, validating your assumptions, having to revisit everywhere, the friction of Pikmin, getting good controllers, handheld mode, the Wavebird, bouncing off character creation, character creation we've liked, wanting a story to wrap around a more specific character, the generic hero, having fun with a character creator, a freeing character creator. Games, people, and influences mentioned or discussed: Final Fantasy (series), Gold Box (series), Eye of the Beholder, Outer Wilds, The Witcher (series), Beowulf, Dungeons & Dragons, Wizardry (series), BioWare, Mass Effect, BioShock, Dishonored, CD Project Red, Cyberpunk 2077, Baldur's Gate III, Thief, Robin Hood, VtM Bloodlines, Undertale, Dark Souls, Land of the Lost, Dwarf Fortress, Planescape: Torment, Metroid / Castlevania, Richard Garriott, Sasha, Pikmin, Nintendo, Shigeru Miyamoto, Switch, PlayStation, Analog Pocket, Ashton Herrmann, Monkey Island, Wing Commander, Morrowind, Fallout 3, Dragon Age: Origins, Bethesda Game Studios, Blizzard, World of Warcraft, Diablo (series), Metal Gear Solid V, Hideo Kojima, Saint's Row IV, Call of Cthulhu, Asher, Cuphead, KyleAndError, Hitman, FFSZilla, MGS: VR Missions, Kirk Hamilton, Aaron Evers, Mark Garcia.  Note: Because Ultima IV has very little music to speak of, I will be substituting music from later in the series in the openings to these episodes TTDS: 38:30 Links: Majuular Ultima IV video recommended by Chris  Next time: Finish Ultima IV Twitch: timlongojr and twinsunscorp YouTube Discord  DevGameClub@gmail.com

A pergunta central que guia a narrativa é provocadora: deveríamos mesmo ter nos conectado? A sequência coloca em xeque o ideal de união apresentado no título original, explorando as consequências dessa ligação forçada entre pessoas, territórios e sistemas.Melhorou a narrativa do jogo? After eight long years of waiting, it's finally here: Episode 528 of Filthy Casuals. Did I make a similar joke the other week? I can't remember and I'm too busy to check because I've been sinking a lot of time into Metroid Prime 4 Beyond. Does this long-awaited sequel live up to expectations? Are the NPC companions as annoying as the initial reports would have you believe? Is it fun to drive around the desert on a motorbike? We answer all of these questions as well as chatting about the future of Yacht Club Games and thinking about movies that Hideo Kojima could cameo in. Hosted on Acast. Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universesSinners mastermind Ryan Coogler confirmed that Black Panther 3 is the next film he's working on during Contenders Film: Los Angeles last week, an event put on by Deadline. This is exciting news for us MCU fans, as work on the third Black Panther film has been mostly quiet other than Denzel Washington's confirmed slip up that he is in the movie.A new Star Trek movie is being created under the writing and direction of John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, the duo behind Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves and Game Night as well as the recently wrapped Apple film Mayday, starring Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh. With the last feature film being Star Trek Beyond in 2016, there's been little movement on both the Chris Pine-led series and new takes on the universe, but this new film will move forward unconnected to anything done previously.Glen Powell in The Running Man was a favored first place winner at the box office this weekend, but was ousted by the sleight of hand of Now You See Me: Now You Don't, the third movie in that franchise. Now You See Me racked up a global $75 million opening, while The Running Man limped across the finish line at $28 million. This marks Powell's first big box office miss, when compared to openings for Twisters, Top Gun: Maverick, and Anybody But You, but the action film did have to compete against Predator: Badlands, which is holding strong at the box office still.Nintendo and Illumination have released the first trailer for Super Mario Galaxy, the follow up to 2023's hit The Super Mario Brothers Movie. The film will hit theaters on April 3rd, 2026. The trailer reveals some new characters and cast members including Bowser Jr. who will be voiced by Benny Safdie and Rosalina who will be voiced by Brie Larson.Amazon Prime has released a new, extended trailer for “Fallout” Season 2. The season begins streaming on December 17.20th Century Studios has released a very short teaser trailer for The Devil Wears Prada 2, the follow up to the 2006 fashion comedy that starred Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, who are reprising their roles for the sequel. The show, which is titled Death Stranding Isolations is expected to debut sometime in 2027.Peacock has decided not to renew Poker Face for a third season. Natasha Lyonne exits as star, but series creator Rian Johnson has begun an effort to shop the show to other broadcasters for a two-season commitment and has cast Peter Dinklage to take over the role of Charlie Cale from Natasha Lyonne.Sony Pictures has picked up the rights to the Chinese doll brand Labubu with the intent to launch a franchise based on the dolls in the near future.Nintendo's live action Legend of Zelda movie has begun production and Nintendo social media accounts posted first look images earlier this week of Link and Zelda, the film's main characters. An old piece of games industry lore has recently reemerged, and it has people wondering about a tantalizing what-if. Back in 1999, The Matrix hit theaters, and the co-creators of the film happened to have been huge fans of Hideo Kojima, himself a year removed from the launch of Metal Gear Solid. And, as was reported at the time, there was potential that Konami would allow Kojima to pursue a licensed Matrix game post-MGS. A lot of new information has since emerged about what did and didn't happen here, and it makes for a great conversation starter. So let's lean into it, shall we? Our conclusion: Perhaps Kojima doing MGS2 instead of a Matrix game means he likely dodged a bullet (pardon the pun). Other news this week includes some quiet updates seemingly being made to PlayStation Portal's functionality, leaks from Bluepoint's cancelled God of War game, the most recent China Hero Project title in the form of Loulan: The Cursed Sand, and more. Then: Listener inquiries! Following Freedom Wars, Patapon, and Everybody's Golf, what should Sony's and Bandai Namco's next collaborative re-release be? Do PC players have any reason to invest in the modern PlayStation ecosystem? Will the culture war consume Naughty Dog's Intergalactic? Does Colin type so fast that his keyboard smokes? Forza bros, rejoice! After plenty of speculation, rumors, and eventual leaks, Forza Horizon 6 has finally been announced at Tokyo Game Show 2025. Joining me is honorary Duke, Sir Bradley Ellis, to discuss all things Forza and more in the world of gaming! It has been long anticipated that Playground would take the franchise to Japan and now that it's finally happening, we have a lot to go over. Landing in 2026, this will be hitting Xbox and PC first, which already lands a little out of the realm of our expectations. When is the inevitable PlayStation port? We dive into just that. Moreover, Playground may end up being the 2026 darling for Xbox if Fable and Forza hit in the same year. Matty and Brad dig into their expectations for 2026 where no doubt there will be a double feature including these two. Sony is a many-tendrilled corporation, which can be both a blessing and a curse. But in fully leveraging all that the wider company does well, it seems they're closer than ever to achieving the "One Sony" goal from years and decades past. Enter Physint (sometimes typed PHYSINT, for some reason), a Hideo Kojima-led project revealed last year as a mysterious cross-pollination between PlayStation and Sony Pictures, one that appears to go into a distinctly Metal Gear Solid-like direction. With Death Stranding 2 now in the past, Kojima is confirmed to be working on Physint itself, presumably for PlayStation 6, which raises some questions, like: What will the game be like? When will it come out? Will it be a commercial success? We know so little about it, and yet, that's never stopped us before, so why start now? Plus: Arrowhead rather blatantly teases a Helldivers 2/Halo crossover, Strauss Zelnick expresses confidence in GTA6's Spring '26 release window and promises that BioShock 4 will indeed launch one day, rumors percolate about upcoming Resident Evil remakes, Crimson Desert gets delayed, PUBG is the next game to reveal it's leaving PlayStation 4 behind, and more.
