This is exciting news for us MCU fans, as work on the third Black Panther film has been mostly quiet other than Denzel Washington's confirmed slip up that he is in the movie.A new Star Trek movie is being created under the writing and direction of John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, the duo behind Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves and Game Night as well as the recently wrapped Apple film Mayday, starring Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh. With the last feature film being Star Trek Beyond in 2016, there's been little movement on both the Chris Pine-led series and new takes on the universe, but this new film will move forward unconnected to anything done previously.Glen Powell in The Running Man was a favored first place winner at the box office this weekend, but was ousted by the sleight of hand of Now You See Me: Now You Don't, the third movie in that franchise. Now You See Me racked up a global $75 million opening, while The Running Man limped across the finish line at $28 million. This marks Powell's first big box office miss, when compared to openings for Twisters, Top Gun: Maverick, and Anybody But You, but the action film did have to compete against Predator: Badlands, which is holding strong at the box office still.Nintendo and Illumination have released the first trailer for Super Mario Galaxy, the follow up to 2023's hit The Super Mario Brothers Movie. THIS WEEK: I give my thoughts on this week's news, including more reveals of the Super Mario Galaxy movie, Fallout Season 2 trailer, Hideo Kojima and Disney teaming up, and more. Then, in our TALK TOPIC of the WEEK, I talk about the new Netflix documentary "Being Eddie" and discuss what was talked about, what wasn't talked about, and what I took away from it.
It's been a year since the last time we sat down for a pod but this one is least recorded within the last month - we're making progress! Joe hosts JT, Sam, and Jono to talk all things games, TV (except this episode), and film. Games * Joe starts the show discussing Death Stranding, Hideo Kojima's unique open-world action game where you play a courier trying to reconnect a post-apocalyptic United States. * Sam heads to Steam Deck Corner to check out the wacky physics-based comedy of What the Golf? (a game that makes fun of golf) and the digitally adapted classic board game, Carcassonne (where players build a medieval French landscape one tile at a time). * JT and Jono give their first impressions after picking up the brand-new Switch 2 console. Film * Jono and JT review two major new films: the sleek sci-fi sequel Tron: Ares (about a highly advanced program crossing into the real world) and the gritty biographical sports drama The Smashing Machine (starring Dwayne Johnson as legendary MMA pioneer Mark Kerr). * Sam took inspiration from Ed Gein to watch the 1960 horror classic Psycho, directed by Alfred Hitchcock. * Joe wraps up the reviews with two genre films: Weapons: A new supernatural mystery-horror film about a group of children who all vanish at the same time and Arrival: Denis Villeneuve's thoughtful sci-fi drama about a linguist (Amy Adams) trying to communicate with aliens who have landed on Earth. This week on the Boss Rush Podcast: Corey Dirrig, LeRon Dawkins, and Patrick Klein dive into how two iconic franchises—Grand Theft Auto and Fallout—remain forever rooted in American culture. Rockstar's Dan Houser and Bethesda's Todd Howard both reaffirm that their series simply wouldn't work outside the U.S., with GTA's satirical take on “Americana” and Fallout's atomic-age paranoia defining their worlds. The crew also breaks down Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella's comments that Xbox's biggest rival isn't PlayStation but TikTok, as the gaming industry now battles for players' attention rather than console dominance. Plus, new data shows remakes vastly outpacing remasters in revenue on PS5, proving players crave fully reimagined classics like Resident Evil 4 and Silent Hill 2. The Nintendo Switch edges toward breaking DS sales records, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond's latest trailer amps up the hype ahead of launch, and Hideo Kojima reacts to learning that Konami once rejected a Matrix game pitch. All this and more, this week on The Boss Rush Podcast!Follow our Hosts:Corey Dirrig, Founder of Boss Rush Media and the Boss Rush NetworkLeRon Dawkins, VP of Technology and Culture at Boss Rush NetworkPatrick Klein, Games Manager at Boss Rush NetworkJoin the Boss Rush Community: Join the Boss Rush Network Community DiscordFollow Boss Rush Network: Follow Boss Rush Network on X/Twitter, Bluesky, Facebook, LinkedIn, Threads, and InstagramSupport Boss Rush Network:Support Boss Rush on Patreon and buy merch on our Store. Join us as Ben, Dessy, Tiago, and Rose cover the inspirations behind Ace Attorney! Dessy returns, and we discuss one of the most influential games of all time, but has never come out in English officially! The Portopia Serial Murder Case is an early adventure game made by Yuji Horii, which combines adventure game mechanics with text adventures and hard-boiled detective stories! The result? A surprising game that seems almost banal and short by today's standards, but had a huge impact on creators like Hideo Kojima, Eiji Aonuma, Shu Takumi, and many, many more. We discuss Portopia '81, Ace Attorney canon fursonas, spending time at the long day factory, and uh... police brutality! A little something for everyone! NEXT TIME: Bonus Episode! An old piece of games industry lore has recently reemerged, and it has people wondering about a tantalizing what-if. Back in 1999, The Matrix hit theaters, and the co-creators of the film happened to have been huge fans of Hideo Kojima, himself a year removed from the launch of Metal Gear Solid. And, as was reported at the time, there was potential that Konami would allow Kojima to pursue a licensed Matrix game post-MGS. A lot of new information has since emerged about what did and didn't happen here, and it makes for a great conversation starter. So let's lean into it, shall we? Our conclusion: Perhaps Kojima doing MGS2 instead of a Matrix game means he likely dodged a bullet (pardon the pun). Other news this week includes some quiet updates seemingly being made to PlayStation Portal's functionality, leaks from Bluepoint's cancelled God of War game, the most recent China Hero Project title in the form of Loulan: The Cursed Sand, and more. Then: Listener inquiries! Following Freedom Wars, Patapon, and Everybody's Golf, what should Sony's and Bandai Namco's next collaborative re-release be? Do PC players have any reason to invest in the modern PlayStation ecosystem? Will the culture war consume Naughty Dog's Intergalactic? Does Colin type so fast that his keyboard smokes? In today's Daily Fix:Battlefield 6's battle royale mode, REDSEC, has officially dropped. REDSEC doesn't just include battle royale—there's also Gauntlet, which is a separate mode meant for smaller matches of 32 players. And there's also Portal, which allowed players to customize their matches. In related news, Activision is opening another free trial of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Multiplayer and Zombies. The trial is live now through November 3rd. This could just be coincidence that Battlefield's biggest competitor is dropping a free trial the same day EA launches REDSEC, or it could be the first in many head-to-head battles between two of the biggest military shooters in the games industry. And finally, Time Extension has details on a Matrix video game that the Wachowskis pitched to Hideo Kojima.

No, you're not still in a dream: Metal Gear Solid 3 is now over two decades old. Despite its age, the peak of Hideo Kojima's tactical espionage action series remains more relevant than ever thanks to a shiny, new remake released this year. But is Delta's faithfulness its fatal flaw? On this episode, join Bob Mackey, Maddie Copp, and Brendan James (of the Blowback podcast and Chapo Trap House's new MGS miniseries) as the crew decides if feeding on a tree frog in stunning 4K is truly worthwhile. [School of Everything Else 2025] This is a follow-up to our 2021 episode on the legendary 1998 original PS1 Metal Gear Solid. This time I have brought in Willow to explore the two major PS2 instalments. We begin with what feels like creator Hideo Kojima answering the impossible question as to how to improve upon his first masterpiece (which goes so far beyond the two MSX games as to leave them feeling like prototypes) by trolling the fanboys who wanted a power fantasy. In the most audacious bait-and-switch of all time, our grizzled hero Solid Snake is snatched away from our control, and instead we are slid into the skin-tight bodysuit of blonde-haired rookie, Raiden. What follows is metatextual in the extreme, frequently absurd, occasionally groan-inducing and at times frighteningly prescient. Then we go back in time to the mid-1960s with Snake Eater; an epic Cold War crawl through the Russian jungle. This entry in the series houses one of the most memorable and tragic antagonists in video gaming history, coupled with one of the most powerful conclusions. This one, with its overly complex camouflage, foraging and first-aid most definitely warranted its recent Delta remake. In my playthrough the mechanics effected the story in a way that even meta-minded Kojima could not have intended. (NOTE: These were originally released as barebones, raw footage After School Club episodes. This presentation involved an editorial overhaul with music and game clips finally in place.) Next Week: Django Unchained

Forza bros, rejoice! After plenty of speculation, rumors, and eventual leaks, Forza Horizon 6 has finally been announced at Tokyo Game Show 2025. Joining me is honorary Duke, Sir Bradley Ellis, to discuss all things Forza and more in the world of gaming! It has been long anticipated that Playground would take the franchise to Japan and now that it's finally happening, we have a lot to go over. Landing in 2026, this will be hitting Xbox and PC first, which already lands a little out of the realm of our expectations. When is the inevitable PlayStation port? We dive into just that. Moreover, Playground may end up being the 2026 darling for Xbox if Fable and Forza hit in the same year. Matty and Brad dig into their expectations for 2026 where no doubt there will be a double feature including these two. Beyond that, we dive into the recent State Of Play, the new OD gameplay, more leaked details on Perfect Dark's episodic format, and much more! Timestamps:00:00:00 Nerd Culture #22700:00:40 Lekker babbelen over regisseurs.00:16:07 Supermarkten.00:16:50 Wat hebben we gekeken/gelezen/geluisterd?00:16:45 In whose name00:25:04 The Naked Gun00:29:08 The Pirates of the Caribbean: On Strager Tides00:33:10 Highest 2 Lowest00:36:39 Task00:38:14 Only Murders in the Building Seizoen 500:41:20 Alien Earth00:45:30 Marvel Zombies00:50:18 Death Stranding Trailer00:53:16 Hideo Kojima luister niet naar story feedback00:54:50 Baywatch krijgt een reboot00:57:31 The Mandalorian & Grogu Trailer01:01:12 IT: Welcome to Derry Trailer

Sony is a many-tendrilled corporation, which can be both a blessing and a curse. But in fully leveraging all that the wider company does well, it seems they're closer than ever to achieving the "One Sony" goal from years and decades past. Enter Physint (sometimes typed PHYSINT, for some reason), a Hideo Kojima-led project revealed last year as a mysterious cross-pollination between PlayStation and Sony Pictures, one that appears to go into a distinctly Metal Gear Solid-like direction. With Death Stranding 2 now in the past, Kojima is confirmed to be working on Physint itself, presumably for PlayStation 6, which raises some questions, like: What will the game be like? When will it come out? Will it be a commercial success? We know so little about it, and yet, that's never stopped us before, so why start now? Plus: Arrowhead rather blatantly teases a Helldivers 2/Halo crossover, Strauss Zelnick expresses confidence in GTA6's Spring '26 release window and promises that BioShock 4 will indeed launch one day, rumors percolate about upcoming Resident Evil remakes, Crimson Desert gets delayed, PUBG is the next game to reveal it's leaving PlayStation 4 behind, and more. Then: Listener inquiries! What's the best stoner game? Are people overreacting to recent PlayStation executives' chatter about moving away from hardware? Is Danganronpa actually bad? Gear up for this SPOILER filled review of Death Stranding 2! Guitar battles and dance routines make this game a hard one to pin down, but when dealing with Hideo Kojima, it's usually best to leave all your preconceived motions at the door (as much as you can, I suppose).
