This year, the duo had a record number of Small Stables that were nominated, then whittled down to six. Nominated for the category this year were Galliers Racing, Altmeyer Wilder Racing, the Trevor Williams Stable, the Tahnee Camilleri stable, Winners Circle Racing, and the Bill MacKenzie Stable. The award is named for trainer Larry Rheinheimer who was the first winner of the Small Stable of the Year award. Rheinheimer passed away in September 2016. He is well known for training pacing superstar Freaky Feet Pete. Previous winners include Verlin Yoder, Jamie Macomber, and JoAnn Looney-King. The 8-year-old has captured the heart of the harness racing industry, as several horsemen and horsewomen took part in #Layla Crushes Cancer, a fundraising event at the Marydel Fire Company in Delaware. Day, who surpassed $1 million in career earnings on Nov. 18 at The Raceway at Western Fair District, will talk about her career in the sport of harness racing. Sorella, a prominent harness horse owner, will talk about the second part of fan favorite Jimmy Freight’s career, the breeding shed. Jimmy Freight will stand at Winbak of Ontario in 2020.

The duo’s broadcast will begin at 8 p.m. and run until 11 p.m., covering races 7-12. Mike and Mike will be joined by former analyst Jessica Otten, DRF contributor Garnet Barnsdale, and regular contributor Taylor Johnston. Otten will co-host and offer insight throughout the program, with Barnsdale sharing his in-depth analysis, and Johnston providing pre- and post-race interviews. The stakes laden program at Hoosier Park has a first post of 6:30 p.m. and will feature some of North America’s top pacers and trotters. The mare Hannelore Hanover will take on the boys in the Caesars Trotting Classic as she did in 2017 when she finished second. The 2018 Dan Patch featured champion Lazarus N who kicked off his U.S. campaign with a victory over the Harrah’s Hoosier Park oval. He returned one month later to the excitement of fans with a victory in the Hoosier Park Pacing Derby. Mike and Mike will have extensive coverage of the Dan Patch beginning at 8:30 p.m. via their website that will run for 2-1/2 hours. Jessica Otten, who returns to the airwaves for the first time since joining The Meadowlands, will be co-hosting the live remote. Otten, a native of Michigan, has worked with Mike and Mike since the inception of their live remotes four years ago. Otten has since gone on to join Meadowlands Racing and Entertainment with a multitude of responsibilities. Joining the trio again this year will be Taylor Johnston. Johnston, a native of Ohio, has worked with Post Time with Mike and Mike for the last two years working at various live remotes throughout their schedule. Johnston will be providing winner’s circle and paddock reaction throughout the evening. McClure, the winning driver of the 2019 Hambletonian, joins to talk about his thoughts of the big race following his victory last Saturday for trainer Luc Blais.
