The new Kip Kern Field inside Liberty Center's Rex Lingruen Stadium will be dedicated this Friday (Sept. 3) before the Tigers' home opener with Otsego. Kip, a 1944 LC graduate, was beloved by all in the LC community and was known to most as Grandpa Kip around town. He attended hundreds of LC football games with his wife Cecelia over the past few decades before his passing at age 94 on Aug. 27, 2020. Behind generous donations from the Kern family and friends, a new turf football field was installed in Kip's honor earlier this year. In this episode, Lynn Groll sits down with Kip's sons, Tom and Barry Kern, along with grandsons' Kyle, Keith and Kenzy Kern and Troy and Sean Westhoven.
