Unfortunately, we see a lot of homeless people here in Dallas-Fort Worth. It always tugs at my heartstrings when I see a homeless person who has a sign saying, veteran. I think about that person, whether it is a male or female, who put their lives on the line for our country, and now they are homeless. Somebody who shares that same feeling is my next guest, Dana Prewitt, CEO of the L.I.F.E. Development Community.

During this episode we talk with Jared Prewitt, the author of "It'll Buff Out. In his book he talks about a myriad of different struggles. Starting in high school Jared became called an pulled into the war. He would watch as the Marines cleared the city of Fallujah in just a few days and wanted to learn about the long lived brotherhood his grandfather told him about. Jared would fight for Cold Steele in 1/6 as a DM in Ramadi in 2006 as well as Garmsir, Afghanistan in 2008. If that wasn't enough, Jared also suffered from a stroke after his active service time ended, setting him again on a path of struggle and perseverance. When Gayla Prewitt sat by her husband Peter's bedside, navigating the healthcare system became her crucible, the outcome of which she shares with raw candor in our latest episode. Her book, "Vitamin S-E-E," serves as a beacon of her advocacy journey, revealing the stark realities of intensive care units and the broader healthcare landscape that often seems indifferent to individual suffering. Her narration is a reminder of the strenuous path families tread through medical crisis and the systemic disregard for human life that she's striving to reform.Throughout our conversation with Gayla, we uncover the moral quandaries and emotional tumult inherent in terminal diagnoses and end-of-life care. The dialogue takes a turn as we scrutinize controversial healthcare protocols that may prematurely end a patient's life, questioning the role of patient dignity and family consent in such grave decisions. Gayla's personal account, alongside others shared, presses us to consider the intricate web of medical ethics, patient rights, and the essence of caregiving, challenging the status quo of decision-making power held by insurance companies and hospital administrators. The episode culminates with a powerful discussion on the role of faith and personal advocacy in the face of healthcare adversity. Gayla's venture into filmmaking and authorship exemplifies how one can channel grief and frustration into a catalyst for change, inspiring hope for a more empathetic, patient-centered healthcare experience. We share stories of loss and the quest for closure, igniting a call to arms for listeners to assert their rights and the rights of their loved ones in the face of medical adversity.mosaic: Exploring Jewish Issuesmosaic is Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County's news magazine show, exploring Jewish...Listen on: Apple Podcasts Spotifygraithcare.com Graith Care Independent Patient Advocate medical advocacy, consultation, advice US and InternationalSUPER FUEL ENERGY DRINK A BLAST OF PREMIUM NATURAL ENERGY! No, it's probably not laziness or making excuses. Usually, we believe we are making the best decision possible when we talk ourselves out of our dreams. To be fair, there absolutely are times when common sense needs to prevail; but often our reasoning needs to be reexamined. Sometimes it's fear, doubt, overthinking or other self-limiting belief that squashes our big goal before we can even get started. Or, maybe we're waiting to have it all “figured out” before we begin! In this episode, Business and Mindset Coach, Jackie Prewitt talks about taking what she calls “messy action” and embracing imperfection along the way. Jackie shares her journey from being on the shy side and afraid to move forward to someone who is proactive and confident. The road wasn't a smooth straight path for her and typically isn't for anyone. She says so many of us give up along the way because we don't pick ourselves back up from failure and remember that we have done and can do hard things. We can also grab onto God to help pull us through. Whether you're just in the “discovering your passion” stage, needing to find the motivation to begin or get some encouragement to keep going -- we think Jackie's nonjudgmental, fun approach will have you dreaming big dreams again. It sure was a kick in the pants for us! (in a good way, of course!) Click play for some tips that will not only make you think, but want to act, too! The Black Sea grain initiative established last summer has been crucial in tackling the global food crisis resulting from the war in Ukraine. But this week Russia said if its demands are not met, it sees no prospect for extending the deal beyond the middle of July. Ukraine is a major grain exporter, accounting for 10% of the world's supply of wheat, 15% of the corn market, and 13% of world barley. The charity The Hunger Project says if the grain deal fails it will put millions of people at risk of severe hunger or famine. Joining Julia to discuss is The Hunger Project CEO Tim Prewitt. After an evening out with friends in Holden, MO, high school sweethearts Bill and Patty Prewitt kissed their children goodnight and went to bed. Patty was soon awakened by a man trying to rape her. She ran to a neighbor's house and called the police. When the police arrived, Bill was found dead in his bedroom from 2 gunshots to the head. The police quickly set their sights on Patty and neglected to lift a single fingerprint from the entire house. Nevertheless, after a trial riddled with sexism and questionable forensics, Patty was sentenced to life in prison where she has been for 36 years. Maggie speaks to Patty Prewitt at the Women's Correctional Center in Missouri, Brian Reichart Esq., Patty's attorney, and Jane Prewitt Watkins, Patty's daughter. To learn more and get involved, visit:https://www.change.org/p/missouri-governor-mike-parson-free-patty-prewitthttps://pattyprewitt.com/https://www.facebook.com/pattyprewitt/https://twitter.com/justiceforpattyWrongful Conviction with Maggie Freleng is a production of Lava for Good™ Podcasts in association with Signal Co.
