Jeremy Salt, CEO of The Vaccine Group (TVG), a Frontier IP Group PLC portfolio company, talked with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about the company's collaboration with global animal health firm Syva. Salt explained that the partnership focuses on developing a vaccine for Streptococcus suis, a major disease in pigs that also contributes significantly to the use of antibiotics in livestock farming. “One of the key aspects of this collaboration with them is that they have a significant gap in their portfolio of products for pigs,” Salt noted. He emphasised that Streptococcus suis is prevalent in around 60% of European countries and impacts pig farming worldwide, with antimicrobial resistance (AMR) being a critical concern. The zoonotic nature of the disease, particularly in Southeast Asia, adds another layer of urgency to develop effective solutions. Salt highlighted that TVG's vaccine platform provides broader protection across multiple strains, making it potentially globally applicable. The vaccine can be administered to young piglets, which is strategically important and is also expected to be more cost-effective than conventional options. He also discussed the role of UK government support, with Innovate UK and DEFRA grants contributing around £1 million in funding. The company is also progressing with 12 vaccine candidates, including developments in poultry and biotherapeutics delivery using monoclonal antibodies.

Olivia tells us all about tvg's flagship and first U.S. venue, The Orion Amphitheater in Huntsville, AL, which is an 8,000 capacity greek-inspired amphitheater which opened in spring 2022. In addition to hosting many national touring shows, the venue focuses on being the “third space” for people (after home and work) with a huge focus on community and cultural events, sustainability practices, and hospitality for everyone visiting. The venue's focus on sustainability includes zero waste to landfills, a reusable cup program (reused over 500,000 cups since opening!), and allowing water bottles with water stations throughout the venue. They also have an artist garden with fruits, vegetables, and herbs that are used as garnish for drinks and used in food as well as a special bar named “Carbon” which donates $1 from every purchase to Tennessee Riverkeeper to protect rivers by enforcing environmental laws and educating the public. We chat with Olivia about her history in live events, which includes runs at Ryman Auditorium, War Memorial Auditorium, Tennessee Performing Arts Center, and promoter National Shows 2 (NS2). Brooklyn-based architectural practice SO|IL's designs grace five continents; they have garnered a reputation for crafting exquisite arts spaces. They are joined by musician Ben Lovett, one of the founding members of folk rock outfit, Mumford & Sons. When he's not on stage, he puts his energy into reinvigorating tired music venues with his company TVG. Launching in 2016, TVG is now a leader in this field, helping to ensure the survival of spectacular independent venues which would otherwise be vulnerable to closure. The opportunity to design a cultural space is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for any architect. For every 100,000 homes, 5 museums and 1 concert hall are funded. In this episode of In the Studio, we're afforded a rare opportunity to get behind-the-scenes and under the floorboards with the SO|IL experts as they describe how their philosophy and processes enrich and shape their buildings. Ben's experience as a musician and performer, and now as a venue developer, provides him with a unique perspective on these types of spaces, understanding the needs of performers as well as those of the audience. He also grasps how these spaces can directly affect and inspire composers and other artists. The guests discuss what makes a successful performance space, and the importance of architecture in music's long-term development.
