This is another episode in that we talk about sex, so please don't listen around little ears. :) In this episode, Hannah and Jake talk about ways that parents can set their children up for success in the area of married sexual intimacy and also give advice to teenagers and young adults who are headed into the phase of dating and marriage.

First, Is it a good thing to have sexual relations? Certainly—but only within a certain context. It's good for a man to have a wife, and for a woman to have a husband. Sexual drives are strong, but marriage is strong enough to contain them and provide for a balanced and fulfilling sexual life in a world of sexual disorder. The marriage bed must be a place of mutuality—the husband seeking to satisfy his wife, the wife seeking to satisfy her husband. Marriage is not a place to “stand up for your rights.” Marriage is a decision to serve the other, whether in bed or out. Abstaining from sex is permissible for a period of time if you both agree to it, and if it's for the purposes of prayer and fasting—but only for such times. Then come back together again. Satan has an ingenious way of tempting us when we least expect it. I'm not, understand, commanding these periods of abstinence—only providing my best counsel if you should choose them. Sometimes I wish everyone were single like me—a simpler life in many ways! But celibacy is not for everyone any more than marriage is. In this episode, we talk about a tradition we started a few years ago called Family Summit where we review the previous year and set goals and dreams for the upcoming year. We hope this inspires your family to do something similar!

This is probably our most controversial episode yet. In this one, we talk about what we believe when it comes to spanking your children. We know this can be a touchy subject but wanted to share our perspective to help parents understand the Biblical perspective we are very familiar with.

We are starting a movement called #LoveYourCityRVA (you can change the hashtag to fit whatever city you live in!) In this episode, we talk about what it means to love your city - how to discover new places in your area, try them out, and invest in the people working there. We talk about the coffee shops we've been visiting in our area as well as some of the restaurants we have discovered. We also explain how to make this happen in your city, no matter where you live! We hope this will inspire you to expand your horizons in your own city and begin to appreciate the small businesses around you! We touched on Christmas and Santa Claus in our last episode, but this one is fully about what we do (and have done in the past) to celebrate the Christmas season. We love our country and some things about our culture, but we intentionally steer clear of some of the messages and practices of the world around us. Many of you may find that you too are counter-cultural!

In our previous episodes, we have talked a lot about our passion for marriage, family, parenting, and men leading. What we haven't talked about much is what lead us to becoming passionate about these topics. In this episode, Jeff aka Padre tells more of his testimony and talks about the life change that happened for him that lead to a passion for leading his own family and later helping others lead theirs.

In several episodes, our family has referred to things as being "churchy." Since this is not a term we believe most people are familiar with, we thought it would be best to do an episode describing what the term means and how this looks. This is a great episode to listen to for both Christians and non-Christians. We hope this will encourage other believers to check their heart and become relevant to those around them. We also hope that any non-believers listening will have a better understanding of our God and what it actually looks like to be a Christian and to love those around us.
