We have excellent news for you! Bryce hit record right as he and Bryan were discussing this exact subject and before you could say Follow the white Loth-cat, a bonus episode was formed. "Let's split that Blue Beetle episode into two parts!" Bryan and Bryce said excitedly. Our comic historian Dave is back again with us this week as we get to the second part of our Blue Beetle History. Then we talk about what we're reading for a while. Maybe those "what are you reading?" bits should be their own episodes at this point... Hmm... What was I saying? Oh yeah, I was telling you about this episode. It's great. Did you know the Blue Beetle comic is almost as old as Super Man? Or that he wasn't originally owned by DC? Or that there was a team of super heroes called the Mystery Men and no one on that team even bowled? Well we didn't, and that's why Bryce went over to our favorite Comic Historian Dave's house to record a podcast episode remote with Bryan back at home as the man in the chair. The whirlwind blur of SDCC has come and gone. Bryan and Bryce try to piece together what exactly happened and when after only a week of being back home. The long awaited second half of our WandaVision episode is finally here! We thought, given that we've been back for only a month that the best thing to do would be to keep our momentum going with an episode about something that was totally relevant two years ago! You're welcome for our genius career move to let you hear something recorded about a character who isn't even in current MCU things. It makes TOTAL sense that we're doing this.

Bonus episode! We know it's off schedule but Indiana Jones and The Dial of Destiny came out last week and we felt compelled to do a quick review of Harrison Ford's swan song for his clearly preferred franchise. We happened to like the film very much so don't expect a ton of complaining from us.

The Illumination Super Mario movie was great, but before Mario could run with his arms stretched out wearing a tanuki costume, Bob Hoskins had to drunkenly walk with a couple of broken fingers, in weird shoes, next to John Leguizamo, also drunk... and with a fractured leg... and through pain, we got the truest form of art. We caught up with our Video Game Historian, Nick Fratto to talk all about the bizarre story of the original masterpiece that is the 1993 Hollywood Pictures dystopian classic, Super Mario Bros.

On August 28th the world was shocked to hear that Chadwick Boseman, King T'Challa, The Black Panther, had lost his battle with colon cancer. We had a Black Panther episode from 2018 that we had planned to release after Black Panther 2 began filming. However, we felt it would be best to release to release that episode this week instead. This being our tribute to a man who transcended the film industry. Chadwick Boseman was a hero to so many for his actions on screen and off; and we are devastated to have lost such a force for good in the arts. Almost-Doctor Erik joins us this week to discuss the musical stylings of Coheed and Cambria! Why discuss a band on a geek podcast you ask? BECAUSE WE CAN DO WHAT WE WANT. Also because the band's entire discography is related to a single fictional universe that has comic and novel tie-ins! Erik tells us what approach you should take when exploring the band's musical stylings so that Bryce can finally give them a proper second chance.

We interviewed Nick Colianese, owner and creator of Key Collector, an app designed with the first online database for finding 'key issues' of comic books! He found us out at SDCC this last year and we loved his app, but thought it might be good to see how a comic store owner might feel about it! So then we went to The Comic Book Hideout (The comic book store where Bryan and Bryce have their weekly pull subscriptions) and asked Glynnes Pruett what she could tell us about the pros and cons of being a key collector! And finally, our four parter Sneaky Geek Goes to Comic-Con comes to a close! We bring Reid and Nick back on for a segment and then head over to Dave Ziegler as he recounts his entire stay at SDCC this year (to the best of his ability given that it happened months ago). Bryce met his hero, Bryan rekindled his excitement for the Dragon Ball franchise (I mean did it need rekindling?) and then we discuss the many ways Con Flu can manifest itself! (sometimes it's not a virus. Sometimes you're just dumb and get massive exhaustion with a touch of hypothermia from not changing before getting into a pool you snuck into) Join us with Nick and our new guest Reid as we talk SDCC Saturday! A TRAILER CAME OUT FOR CAPTAIN MARVEL AND WE ARE EXCITED. (see? all caps. that's how you show excitement.) We go through shot by shot and explain all that we can without spoiling too much for ourselves because we may be here to report on these things but it doesn't mean we're desperate to know the plot before it hits us. We talk about who some of these characters shown are in the comics, give a smidgeon of backstory (not too much though, this one's a quickie) and then talk about what some of this could mean for the Captain Marvel story! Comic-Con day two was twice as exhausting as day one with twice as many people! So much so that midway into recording we wound up giving up and getting distracted and had to record the latter half of the episode weeks later after we recovered! We start at a train station (sorry for the audio) with Tate and end up finishing the episode in a living room with Logan Lirette! Plus Bryan found his white whale of collectible figures: A Darth Revan that wasn't astronomically expensive! We also discuss panels we wound up at, what it's like to go to industry parties for the con, and all the various ups and downs of navigating the crowds. Enjoy!

A long time ago when we first started making this podcast we sat down with Dave and discussed Doctor Who. It went well and promptly got shelved. But now it's back! So we are here to get you entirely up to date on what has happened with the Doctor Who series. We got industry insights, we got outdustry outsights, we got wibblies and wobblies and timies and wimies. We have real words and fake words. From "extended hiatus" to "Whoboot." We got it all here for you in part one of our Christmas Spectacular! How is it Christmas related? It was supposed to be released two months ago!

Bryce and Dave sit down to expand on the Thor Ragnarok conversation some more by going deeper into the original lore that inspired the original comic stories that inspired the film. We expand on many of the characters within the film and some of their best stories in their many runs over the years.
