The guys try to figure out what Mike Vrabel is all about. There are some clues as to who he is going to pick, but no one is really sure. Abdul Carter would probably be the best pick. Can Vrabel not handle big personalities? Will the Patriots pass over Abdul Carter? He had AJ Brown as a coach, so he can probably handle it. He also was the big personality on the Patriots. Vrabel can coach up a player who is not a great person off the field. The Patriots will definitely gamble on the talent. Did Vrabel tip his hand about Will Campbell? What are the trade down odds? Bruins teases for later on in the show. There's a lot wrong with how this season went. Bruins owner Charlie Jacobs sent a letter to fans. They have a press conference next week. Sorry, Greg. Back to the Patriots. How buried is Eliot Wolf's opinion? Kind of like Jones' opinion when his wife asks what he wants for dinner. Will Travis Hunter be able to withstand a full season of playing both ways? Linebacker preview in the 2025 draft. The guys go through the five best linebackers eligible for the draft. Keefe discusses his pick outside the top ten, safe to say he is a big hoss. There are some old draft prospects that Jones likes. When does the Covid bonus year end? Is Mason Graham a fourth overall worthy selection? He is not a bust, but Keefe does not want him. That would not fit a need.

What does it really take to survive as a professional author? In this refreshingly honest conversation, bestselling and award winning Maz Evans  of 'Who Let the Gods Out' and I pull back the curtain on the realities of writing for a living."We aren't writers floating around in scarves," Maz declares with her characteristic wit. "We're business people running a business." This sentiment sets the tone for a discussion that reveals the genuine struggle behind the glamorous facade of publishing success. From the physical toll of deadline weeks (surviving on Uber Eats and forsaking personal grooming) to the mental exhaustion that accompanies creating a 100,000-word manuscript, both authors share their unfiltered experiences. Yet despite the challenges, Maz Evan's passion for storytelling remains undimmed. Maz shares details about her new comedy crime novel "That'll Teach You". For anyone who loves books or dreams of writing them, this conversation offers valuable perspective on what sustains authors through rejection, financial uncertainty, and creative doubt. As Maz perfectly summarizes: "The biggest success is staying in the game."That'll Teach HerA headmistress is dead. The circumstances are suspicious. Wealth Planning for the Modern Physician
From Practice to Personal Brand: Marketing Strategies for All Doctors, with Kristy LaGourgue and Rachel Varga

Wealth Planning for the Modern Physician

Play Episode Listen Later Feb 19, 2025 39:13

Listen in or watch as host David Mandell sits down with medical marketing consultant Kristy LaGourgue and aesthetic nurse Rachel Varga to discuss branding and marketing lessons that all doctors can benefit from, whether they own their own practice or not. David begins the discussion by asking Kristy and Rachel the most common mistakes medical practices make with marketing and how to avoid them.  They then chat about the importance of marketing when offering new services or equipment or even bringing on new doctors. The discussion then turns to branding – how an individual doctor can brand him/herself in the marketplace- which not only can be patient-focused, but also to other doctors, who are key referral sources –and even industry for further business opportunities. Finally, Kristy and Rachel speak to the use of social media and how doctors should approach getting started in marketing efforts. KEY TAKEAWAYS Takeaway #1: Having a Clear Marketing Strategy is More Effective Than Piecemeal Efforts. Piecing together different marketing tactics without a clear strategy can lead to poor results. Kristy points out that one common mistake practitioners make is trying “a little bit of this, a little bit of that, hoping something's going to stick.” Instead, she suggests that it's crucial to understand how different marketing activities work together to drive steady patient flow. Rachel supports this point, noting that practitioners often give up too soon or get in their own way due to imposter syndrome or feeling out of their comfort zone. She encourages practitioners to stick with their marketing efforts and to recognize the long-term benefits. “It's really getting also that validation and accolade from your colleagues in the space too, to then position you even further, which might open up the gates for different opportunities on boards and business development deals as well”. In essence, being strategic and consistent about marketing activities, rather than trying different tactics in a piecemeal manner, can lead to better results and open up new opportunities for practitioners. Takeaway #2: Diversifying Practice Offerings Can Lead to New Opportunities. With the rapidly evolving field of medical technology and treatments, diversifying practice offerings can open up new opportunities for physicians. For instance, adding new technologies or treatments to a practice can attract different types of patients, or even create new revenue streams. Rachel explains how one of her colleagues transformed his practice by incorporating group coaching and video training, thus creating a seven-figure business. She says, “So you just don't know what's possible until you start to go down this path.” She also mentions the increasing popularity of concierge medicine and biohacking, suggesting that practices that incorporate these elements are very appealing to buyers. Diversifying practice offerings can, therefore, not only bring in new patients and revenue streams but also increase the practice's value in case of a potential buyout. This diversification, coupled with a strong online presence and marketing strategy, can significantly enhance a practice's success and growth. NLS annotation Anne Boleyn & Elizabeth I: the mother and daughter who changed history DB124509 Author: Borman, Tracy Reading Time: 8 hours, 53 minutes Read by: Tracy Borman Subjects: World History and Affairs, Biography of Heads of State and Political Figures, Women “One of the most extraordinary mother and daughter stories of all time – Anne Boleyn, the most famous of Henry VIII’s wives and her daughter Elizabeth, the ‘Virgin Queen’. Anne Boleyn is a subject of enduring fascination. By far the most famous of Henry VIII’s six wives, she has inspired books, documentaries and films, and is the subject of intense debate even today, almost 500 years after her violent death. For the most part, she is considered in the context of her relationship with Tudor England’s much-married monarch. Dramatic though this story is, of even greater interest – and significance – is the relationship between Anne and her daughter, the future Elizabeth I. Elizabeth was less than three years old when her mother was executed. Given that she could have held precious few memories of Anne, it is often assumed that her mother exerted little influence over her. But this is both inaccurate and misleading. Elizabeth knew that she had to be discreet about Anne, but there is compelling evidence that her mother exerted a profound influence on her character, beliefs and reign. Even during Henry’s lifetime, Elizabeth dared to express her sympathy for her late mother by secretly wearing Anne’s famous ‘A’ pendant when she sat for a painting with her father and siblings. Piecing together evidence from original documents and artefacts, this book tells the story of Anne Boleyn’s relationship with, and influence over her daughter Elizabeth. In so doing, it sheds new light on two of the most famous and influential women in history.”– From publisher. Unrated. Commercial audiobook. London : Audible Studios, 2023. #1107 Shaté Hayes | Piecing Together Powerful Stories

More than a Few Words

Play Episode Listen Later Jan 9, 2025 11:01

Whether you're running a business, managing a nonprofit, or just trying to share your message with the world  a good story is the key to connecting with people. Stories bring ideas to life, giving them color and shape that facts and figures alone just can't match. That's why I was so excited to chat with Shaté Hayes .   She is a creative strategist with a fascinating background as a professional dancer and choreographer. Her career has been built on crafting stories—first on the stage and now as a tool for business leaders looking to inspire action. Our conversation was a wonderful reminder that, whether you're working on a stage or in a boardroom, storytelling is one of the most powerful tools in your toolkit.  Here are the key takeaways from our chat:  Start by Collecting Your Puzzle Pieces Before you can craft a great story, you need to gather all the raw materials. Building a story is like assembling a puzzle—laying out data, testimonials, and even permissions to use specific anecdotes. The more pieces you collect, the easier it is to see the full picture and decide what's most compelling.  Choose Stories That Align with Your Purpose Not every story or element you collect will make the cut. Pick stories that reflect your business's core mission and goals. Think of it like packing for a trip: you don't need to bring everything, just the essentials that will get you where you want to go.  Focus on the Human Element Some of the most impactful stories aren't about big numbers or dramatic events—they're about small, relatable moments. Look for human moments that connect people, it is not about a bland testimonial of how they liked working with your, but a compelling explanation of how you helped them solve a problem and how that felt for both of you.   Tailor Stories to the Right Platforms From Instagram Reels to LinkedIn posts, stories shine when they're shared in a way that fits the platform. Shaté reminded me that we don't need to be everywhere—just where our audience is—and to play to each platform's strengths, like video for TikTok or text posts for LinkedIn.  Every Business Has a Story Worth Sharing Forget the myth that stories must be extraordinary to be meaningful. Even seemingly simple experiences—like how you overcame a challenge or found a creative solution—can resonate with your audience. It's about being real and relatable.

London, 1857: A pair of teenage girls holding a sign that says "Fugitive Slaves" ask for money on the corner of Blackman Street. After a constable accosts them and charges them with begging, they end up in court, where national newspapers pick up their story. Are the girls truly escaped slaves from Kentucky? Or will the city's dystopian Mendicity Society catch them in a lie, exposing them as born-and-raised Londoners and endangering their safety? With its many accounts of people like these who lived and made their living on the streets, Vagabonds: Life on the Streets of Nineteenth-Century London (The Experiment, 2024) forms a moving picture of London's most compelling period (1780-1870). Piecing together contemporary sources such as newspaper articles, letters, and journal entries, historian Oskar Jensen follows the harrowing, hopeful journeys of the city's poor: children, immigrants, street performers, thieves, and sex workers, all diverse in gender, ethnicity, ability, and origin. For the first time, their own voices give us a radical new perspective on this moment in history, with its deep inequality that bears an astonishing resemblance to our own era's divides. However, these studies have only made passing references to window display and its role in retail, society and culture. In The Professionalization of Window Display in Britain, 1919-1939 (Bloomsbury, 2024) Dr. Kerry Meakin investigates the conditions that enabled window display to become a professional practice during the interwar period, exploring the shift in display styles, developments within education and training, and the international influence on methods and techniques. Piecing together the evidence, visual and written, about people, events, organisations, exhibitions and debates, Dr. Meakin provides a critical examination of this vital period of design history, highlighting major display designers and artists. Tonight, my special guest is author Jason Louv who's here to discuss his book 'John Dee and The'Empire of Angels' who was a 16th century scientific genius and occultist.  A comprehensive look at the life and continuing influence of 16th-century scientific genius and occultist Dr. John Dee    • Presents an overview of Dee's scientific achievements, intelligence and spy work, imperial strategizing, and his work developing methods to communicate with angels    • Pieces together Dee's fragmentary Spirit Diaries and examines Enochian in precise detail and the angels' plan to establish a New World Order    • Explores Dee's influence on Sir Francis Bacon, modern science, Rosicrucianism, and 20th-century occultists such as Jack Parsons, Aleister Crowley, and Anton LaVey    Dr. John Dee (1527-1608), Queen Elizabeth I's court advisor and astrologer, was the foremost scientific genius of the 16th century. Laying the foundation for modern science, he actively promoted mathematics and astronomy as well as made advances in navigation and optics that helped elevate England to the foremost imperial power in the world. Centuries ahead of his time, his theoretical work included the concept of light speed and prototypes for telescopes and solar panels. Dee, the original “007” (his crown-given moniker), even invented the idea of a “British Empire,” envisioning fledgling America as the new Atlantis, himself as Merlin, and Elizabeth as Arthur.    But, as Jason Louv explains, Dee was suppressed from mainstream history because he spent the second half of his career developing a method for contacting angels. After a brilliant ascent from star student at Cambridge to scientific advisor to the Queen, Dee, with the help of a disreputable, criminal psychic named Edward Kelley, devoted ten years to communing with the angels and archangels of God. These spirit communications gave him the keys to Enochian, the language that mankind spoke before the fall from Eden. Piecing together Dee's fragmentary Spirit Diaries and scrying sessions, the author examines Enochian in precise detail and explains how the angels used Dee and Kelley as agents to establish a New World Order that they hoped would unify all monotheistic religions and eventually dominate the entire globe.    Follow Our Other ShowsFollow UFO WitnessesFollow Crime Watch WeeklyFollow Paranormal FearsFollow Seven: Disturbing Chronicle StoriesJoin our Patreon for ad-free listening and more bonus content.Follow us on Instagram @mysteriousradioFollow us on TikTok mysteriousradioTikTok Follow us on Twitter @mysteriousradio Follow us on Pinterest pinterest.com/mysteriousradio Like us on Facebook Facebook.com/mysteriousradio
