When Gary Chastagner was a kid in the 1950s, his parents typically displayed their Christmas tree for about a week. The tree went up on December 24—often after he went to bed—and came down after New Year's Day.Now, consumers want fresh-cut trees that can be displayed for weeks without losing their needles. Chastagner, a professor emeritus of plant pathology at Washington State University, has spent more than 40 years helping Northwest Christmas tree growers improve their product. For his work, Chastagner earned the nickname “Dr. Christmas Tree.” In this episode, Chastagner talks about working on solutions to Swiss needle cast disease in Douglas fir and visiting tree lots in the Southwest to improve the hydration of displayed trees. I.e. your neighbor will know how much you love God by how much you love them!    Neighbor means whomever you come in contact with!      What does John 13 say 35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”   It would be a fair question to ask your neighbor - again whomever you are around during the day's activities… how much they think you love God according to how much they feel you love them? THIS IS THE GRADE… THERE IS NO CURVE. YOU GET GRADED ON YOUR LOVE FOR GOD - NOT BY YOUR LOVE FOR GOD - BUT RATHER YOUR LOVE FOR OTHERS!

Heard on more than 150 public radio stations in its heyday, the routine never varied. Asked a listener question by his assistant Rodney (the great Merle Kessler), Dr. Science would embark on the most tangential of explanations. Eventually the radio show spun off several books and a short-lived tv version. Why did we love him -- perhaps it's because "he knows more than you do!"
