Kings of Anglia - Ipswich Town podcast from the EADT and Ipswich Star
Ross Halls, Alex Jones and Mark Heath are back to discuss Ipswich Town's grimly predictable 4-1 defeat at league leaders Liverpool. The boys chat about the game, whether Town were too passive and lament the loss of Wes Burns to what looks to be a season-ending injury. There's also a discussion around Sam Morsy's mobility, Conor Townsend's unexpected 45 minutes and Julio Enciso's impactful (literally) debut. We hear from Kieran McKenna and Jacob Greaves too, reflect on the bigger relegation picture and say farewell to The Fridge (permanently) and Ali Al-Hamadi (temporarily). Then we start to think about the HUGE game with Southampton this weekend - and AJ shares a story of hotel woe from the road. Recent surveys are suggesting that Americans are losing confidence in higher education, even to the point of feeling like college isn't worth the cost. If you're looking to advance your career, you may be thinking, “Where do I start?” But options abound—you just have to know where to look. Alexander Price, CEO of Citizens State Bank in Ouray, Colo., pursued further education and career development at the Graduate School of Banking at Colorado, which is just one of the options available to bankers. “[School is] one of those things where you just have time, you have space, to think about things and to talk about things. It's worth its weight in gold,” Price says. “I would also say the Graduate School of Banking, its emphasis is in community banking, and that's the thing that I'm really passionate about now.” Price and Stephanie Gambill, VP of Grand Rapids State Bank in Grand Rapids, Minn., chat with host Charles Potts about their insights from banking school and other ways they've solidified their footing within the community banking industry. Everyone is focused on the Presidential race, for obvious reasons - and most Texans who take an even slightly broader view of the election might get as far as unseating Ted Cruz. There's a LOT more at play and at stake this November, and our ideological foes in the Republican Party are certainly engaged at the school board level - where control over the funding, educational policies and curriculum content of our public schools primarily lies. We have five terrific Democratic nominees for the Texas State Board of Education, and in this talk we get the views of two of them in regard to the task at hand. Rayna Glasser, running for SBOE District 11, and Morgan Kirkpatrick, in the race for SBOE District 15, share their common sense views on how Texas public schools need to change, and how to resist the GOP's assault on them via vouchers, encroaching religious content, and more. You may not know that I grew up a punk rock kid in the late 80's but that's a fact. My hair transitioned through lots of colors, my Doc Martens were original and my weekends full of hardcore shows at small venues near and far. What I learned in those formative years, as part of that scene, shaped much of my core identity and values that live through me still. Today's guest similarly came of age in mosh pits along the eastern seaboard from Washington D.C to Boston, taking the pole position for women and becoming a matriarch within the fan culture. Author, award winning teacher and punk rock maven Nancy Barile grew up promoting all ages hard core shows in Philly on Sunday afternoons before it was a thing…she's actually why it's a thing so you can thank her directly for that. Having spent the past 28 years teaching English Language Arts to public school children outside of Boston, Nancy is here to share with you the most important life lessons the world of punk taught her and teach you how you can apply them to your own life-even if the music isn't for you ;) Her book “'I'm Not Holding Your Coat: My Bruises and All Memoirs of Punk Rock Rebellion” chronicles her experience as a woman at the leading edge of a musical and social movement full of (young)men. Y'all, it's here! Season 6 has officially landed and I am so excited to kick off this brand new season with this feisty firecracker, Marcela Alonso. Marcela is a digital content creator and the host of the sex worker podcast, Get Schooled. She brings on decades of experience in our industry including many years as an exotic dancer, a dominatrix, cam model and content creator. Marcela started off as a survival sex worker in the mid-90s and speaks to that time where there wasn't much diversity. She shares the prejudices that she personally received and bore witness to discriminatory behaviour from various strip clubs across the USA. Of course, it was a different time back then and although this generation has welcomed more sex workers of colour, Marcela shares that there is still much work to do. Our conversation begins with a call for diversity and inclusion and veers off into other related topics like underrepresentation, fetishization, addressing stereotypes, colonization, sobriety, sensationalism and more. I had such a great conversation with Marcela and can't wait to have her speak on the podcast again one day. And so did Todd Boehly, who predicted a 3-0 Chelsea win. Because of course he did.Marcus, Pete and Andy react to Chelsea's tricky night at the Bernabéu, where even Pete's most ardent Frank Lampard fandom cannot hide the fact that they simply can't score for love nor money – nor even one of Ancelotti's cigars. We also start our campaign for Dele Alli to be Real Madrid's next manager and we check in with Neil Warnock, who's been up to some unlicensed foot bothering.Tweet us @FootballRamble and email us here: show@footballramble.com.Sign up for our Patreon for exclusive live events, ad-free Rambles, full video episodes and loads more: patreon.com/footballramble.***Please take the time to rate and review us on Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your pods. For Jemma's 15th birthday we took a trip to the not-so-sunny LA, to explore, go to disneyland, and pop into the podcast studio! What was meant to be a quick little segment with Jemma, ended up a podcast where we discussed our time down there, the stuff that freaks us out (like bluetooth….!??!) and Alicia and I are reminded that we're just ok in the eyes of a Gen Z kid. Jemma brings her dry humour and wit to the microphone today, as we brace ourselves for it all. Follow Alicia @AliciaMcCarvell on Tiktok & IG!
