Jerry Carita (last seen on Hungry Trilobyte in Episode #185) returns for our milestone 200th episode! Tonight, we're talking about The CloakRoom, an anthology series born out of a writing course by Scott Snyder. There's so much to cover here-- the value of anthology fiction (particularly anthology GENRE fiction), Scott's work with the Batman universe, and the opportunities new writers can take to have their work seen. As a fun aside, Jerry and I wrap up with a granular look at how Superman works at a writer's level, and he gives me a chance to brag on a great discussion I had with Billy Mays III in Episode 88! — See Show Notes at www.AaronBossig.com Follow me on BlueSky & Instagram - @AaronBossig

In a captivating conversation, Shannon Shine engages with none other than Billy Mays III, a name that resonates with both legacy and innovation. Since 2009, Billy Mays III, son of the legendary pitchman, has been channeling his creative energy into a mesmerizing blend of ethereal guitar work, primal rhythms, pulsating drones, and electronic textures. As layers of sound intertwine and surge, they form intricate tapestries of emotional resonance. In this interview, Shannon and Billy delve into the transformative power of platforms like Patreon and Twitch for artists and musicians. As modern tools of support, these platforms provide an avenue for creators to nurture their craft while connecting intimately with their audience. The dialogue unfolds against the backdrop of Billy's own journey, exploring how these platforms have enriched his artistic process and fostered a deeper connection with his dedicated listeners.
Remember those OxiClean commercials with the in-your-face pitchman? That was Billy Mays. Mays died years ago, but he's lived on in meme form. Why? We ask his son Billy Mays III, his biggest frenemy, and a host of others to explain why someone who was squarely in the age of television continues to appear online in strange and provocative ways. It's the story of an American staple whose consumerist existence belies a personality that, in the end, was surprisingly wholesome.
Anybody old enough to remember life before cutting the cord has probably seen the work of TV pitchman Billy Mays. But people much younger still know his face and squeaky OxiClean personality. While Mays died years ago, he's lived on in meme form, from the famous product launches of Apple to more obvious image macros with Impact font. Why? We ask his son Billy Mays III, his biggest frenemy, and a host of others to explain why someone who was squarely in the age of television continues to appear online in strange and provocative ways. It's the story of an American staple whose consumerist existence belies a personality that, in the end, was surprisingly wholesome.

Billy Mays III is a progressive rock musician who has spent years finding different ways to layer experimental sounds. As Infinite Third, you can track the path his music has taken over the past decade. Billy Mays also happens to be the son of the late TV pitchman, who developed a fan following apart from OxyClean and Mighty Putty. In this episode of Hungry Trilobyte, Billy Mays and I discuss how his father's passing directly affected his musical path, and how loss and creativity are connected. We also celebrate the ways in which fans are affected by artists in unexpected ways-- his father (and the memes he inspired) being great examples. As if that weren't enough, Billy Mays III is a fan of comic books, and how awesome is that? — See Show Notes at www.AaronBossig.com Follow me on Twitter - @AaronBossig Podcast logo and graphics by Marcie London www.MarcieLondon.com - @MarcieStarfleet

Billy Mays III is an artist, musician, facilitator and entrepreneur. He's also the namesake and only son of well-known pitchman Billy Mays (yeah, the Oxyclean guy). Billy has been a dear friend of mine for over a decade and I've seen him face multiple tragedies and how he's turned his grieving into not only art, but healing for himself and for others. I'm delighted to bring you this conversation where we talk about grief and how multiple tragedies changed the course of his creativity.

22 Months | A Conversation with Bro. Jon Ruark On this episode of The Winding Stairs, we finalize our conversation about One Day Classes by confronting our opinion with hard facts. Bro. Jon Ruark conducted a comprehensive survey of Freemasonry Membership and participation for this very purpose. On this episode, we will discuss reasons why One Day Classes may not work, When are ODCs appropriate and what can be done to increase participation and a sense of satisfaction from the members of the Craft. Blue Lightning | A Conversation with Bro. Chris Hodapp On this episode of The Winding Stairs, we tackle a very contentious topic, One Day Classes. I recently asked The Winding Stairs Facebook Group Members "What is your opinion about One Day Classes in Freemasonry?" and the result was shocking. Not only did I discover that the majority of respondents had a negative opinion regarding One Day Classes, but many held some sort of animosity towards Brothers who have joined the fraternity in this manner. Dismayed by this negativity, I contacted Brother Chris Hodapp, author of Freemasons for Dummies, to learn more one-day classes, their effectiveness, and how Brothers should handle discussions about this topic. In this candid conversation, you will learn: I hope that you find this episode edifying. Do you enjoy The Winding Stairs? Bound by Rituals How rituals influence Freemasonry, Society and our Personal Life. Rituals are extremely important in Freemasonry, but the importance of ritual extends far beyond into all aspects of our life. When we think of rituals, we often limit our imagination to spiritual ceremonies, but we engage in rituals on a daily basis. Do you have a specific set of steps that you follow every morning when you wake up? Do you have a predetermined sequence of things you do when you prepare to go out? Rituals have a profound effect in the way we enjoy life and the value that we attribute to the experiences we have. On this episode of The Winding Stairs Freemasonry Podcast, we explore the role that rituals play in Freemasonry, in our society and in our own personal lives. This is the first episode in a series which will explore the fascinating relation between rituals and the quality of our life. We are bound by rituals in a positive way and sometimes in a negative way. Listen to this episode for a detailed explanation.
