For the twenty-fourth installment of “50 Weeks That Shaped America” we go to the Montana Territory in the spring of 1876. General George Custer (and his cinnamon-scented hair) have been sent to the area to defeat the Plains Indians. But at the Battle Of Little Bighorn (aka Custer's Last Stand) things would go awry. Over two episodes, we discuss the post-Civil-War Westward expansion; how Sitting Bull and Crazy Horse mounted an Indian defense; and how a bloody defeat was spun into a military legend. Once overshadowed by the myth of “Custer's Last Stand”, Native Americans have successfully reclaimed the narrative of the Battle of Greasy Grass. 150 years after the defeat of Lt. Col. George Armstrong Custer's 7th U.S. Cavalry, northern Plains tribes plan numerous events over multiple days to commemorate the historical milestone and to explore the ways the unexpected victory by a coalition of tribes continues to reverberate today. The sesquicentennial is less about celebrating past military dominance and more about a unified, multi-tribal declaration that, despite a century and a half of forced displacement, Indigenous cultures and identities remain vibrantly alive. GUESTS Tom Eagle Staff (Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe), Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe planning coordinator for the 150th Anniversary of Battle of Little Bighorn Dave West (Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe), director of the Cheyenne River Lakota Cultural Center Dion Killsback (Northern Cheyenne), Northern Cheyenne Tribe's camp coordinator for the 150th Anniversary of Little Bighorn and an attorney

Today, a look at markets testing the lows again yesterday, but trying to put in a rally ahead of a huge market event tomorrow that could define where this market heads next in what could prove an either-or moment. Elsewhere, interesting market reaction to Oracle's earnings report after the close, and super-critical support levels have come into play for the gold price, which faces its own either-or moment technically and thematically as the USD remains strong. Lots more on macro and FX and more in today's pod, which is hosted by Saxo Global Head of Macro Strategy John J. Hardy. Links In "The abundance illusion" noted oil industry analyst Jeff Currie notes the risks the oil market (and the wider global economy) faces this summer as seasonal demand rises inexorably while oil has yet to begin meaningfully flowing through the strait of Hormuz again. Also, he notes China's "New Joule Order" which has its own tremendous implications as the country puts its energy system resilience on display. HT to FTAlphaville for another great link today, this one to a Kardamow substack article that discusses the same concerns Currie discusses in the above link, with some more data specifics. An FT Article looks at US attempts to piece together a "dark transit" system for oil tankers to transit the Hormuz Strait via a narrow and risk shipping lane that hugs the Omani coast. Stratechery.com has a much more positive take on Apple's AI strategy with Siri than the market's very negative assessment in recent days, in a piece it calls The iPhone's Last Stand. This year's Microsoft Build conference is seeing the company's Project Solara announcement, the company's attempt to envision a new operating system and network of new devices, among other things, aimed at addressing the transition to the agentic AI era. The Verge discusses this as well as Microsoft's broader AI strategy. About twice per week (in normal times, hopefully soon to resume), you will find links discussed on the podcast and a chart-of-the-day over at the John J. Hardy substack. Seth Gruber, the CEO of White Rose Resistance, joins Allie to explain why America is in a “Last Stand” moment. Gruber pinpoints 1973 as the decline of American civilization, citing Roe v. Wade, distribution of pornography, and the tail end of the sexual revolution as the beginning of the end of the American republic. Seth also gives both historical and biblical examples of how people are enslaved by lust while outlining the dangers of unbridled licentiousness. He exposes that the abortion industry is only killing half as many unborn children as the IVF industry. Episode Summary: What happens when a society rejects the sanctity of life and abandons a biblical worldview? In this episode, we sit down with Dr. George Grant to discuss The Last Stand, his documentary created with Seth Gruber. Together, they trace the historical roots of today's cultural battles, showing how the struggle over human dignity, the value of children, and the lordship of Christ has shaped civilizations from ancient Rome and the French Revolution to modern America.Dr. Grant explains why the pro-life movement is ultimately a clash of worldviews, why cultural decline begins with false ideas about the human person, and why Christians cannot retreat from the public square. We explore what faithful cultural engagement looks like in an age increasingly hostile to biblical truth. This conversation offers both a sobering diagnosis and a hopeful roadmap for renewal through discipleship, Christian education, institutional leadership, and long-term faithfulness. If you're concerned about the future of Western civilization, the pro-life movement, or the Church's role in discipling nations and shaping society, this episode is for you.Who is Disciple Nations Alliance (DNA)? Since 1997, DNA's mission has been to equip followers of Jesus around the globe with a biblical worldview, empowering them to build flourishing families, communities, and nations.

This week: Keir Starmer's leadership is in crisis. As pressure builds on the Prime Minister, Michael and Madeline ask whether Starmer can survive the rebellion now gathering pace in his own party. They discuss the runners and riders who could replace him, from Wes Streeting and Angela Rayner to Andy Burnham – and the risks each would pose for Labour. Could Burnham find a safe seat? Would Streeting trigger open warfare with the left? And would a change of leader mean anything beyond a change of name?Produced by Oscar Edmondson. Hosted on Acast. The only logical solution to wrap up our look at the original X-Men trilogy is a updated re-release of our Caravan Of Garbage review from 2019. Sure Bryan Singer is now gone (for now) but luckily Brett "The Rat" Ratner has stepped in to take his place to conclude the stories of Wolverine, Gene Grey, Professor X, Magnet, Storm, Cyclops and many more characters that would continue to never die and re-appear in future prequels and sequels. Our theme today at KKHI is a whole bunch of messes people are cleaning up. Hawaiian Bros is a fast food chain that originated in KC and their Royals promotion of giving away free lunch when the Royals score 6 or more was just crushing their business. So they've changed it. It reminds me of the historic, high scoring Chiefs of 2002 and 2003 when I started the "Custard's Last Stand" Club that featured our radio sponsors giving percentage discounts equal to the points the Chiefs scored the day before. Get this: We even sold brand new cars for half price. It was chaos. Fresh off is appearance as fill in White House Press Secretary, Marco Rubio is now the odds on favorite to be president according to prediction site Kalshi. A family gets a free pool and you won't believe how this happened. A college women's soccer team gets beaten by a 13 year old boys team. Golden Tempo won't run in the Preakness and that's a lame as it gets and the NY Times isn't going away any time soon.
Things get more cloudy on the 920-mile journey for the Vols. Heading into the final home stand of the season, Tennessee welcomes a stacked Texas team sporting some of the best arms in college baseball. Logan Quinton and Bill Mynatt discuss.
Sometimes, PlayStation's userbase gets upset over nothing, and this past week was a great example of that. Rumors and uninformed conjecture rapidly circulated about Sony unleashing a stringent DRM regimen on PlayStation that would force players to check-in with the PSN every 30 days, or lose their digital licenses. That (of course) was complete nonsense, obviously so -- Sony is instead attempting to throttle dishonest people from taking advantage of a quirk in their refund system -- but it didn't stop many talking points from taking hold. And really, isn't it Sony's fault, ultimately? All they had to do was communicate, good or bad. But they didn't, and so the ne'er-do-wells filled the vacuum. Then again, maybe players should be a little more mad at the actual villains: The losers and degenerates who take advantage of loopholes, steal games, and pirate anything they can get their hands on. We discuss at length. Plus: MLB: The Show Mobile slowly expands around the world, Rebel Wolves' extremely promising vampire title The Dawn of Bloodwalker gets a release date, classic NickToon Rugrats gets a games compilation, Star Wars comes to PowerWash Simulator 2, and more. Then: Listener inquiries! With Xbox's incessant will they/won't they going on, should we expect Microsoft-published games to continue to come to PS5? Is ARC Raiders and The Finals developer Embark guilty of overtuning their titles? What are the origins of "friendslop"-style games? Is Colin's wife quietly attempting to protect him from complete embarrassment by refusing to allow him to participate in the 100 Chicken Nugget Challenge? This episode is sponsored by BetterHelp. Cosmic horror, alien invasion nightmares, interdimensional warfare, occult terror, time-travel chaos, and apocalypse-driven weird fiction crash together in this wildly twisted Weekly Spooky compilation. If you love reality-breaking horror stories, ancient evil, multiverse destruction, cult books, and strange creatures from beyond human understanding, this collection delivers a full dose of bizarre, blood-soaked nightmare fuel.Tonight's lineup moves from a New Year's Eve time-rip disaster into a funeral where killer clowns play by rules all their own, then into a last-ditch battle to stop multiversal annihilation, and finally down a rain-slick spiral of crime, occult corruption, and a monster born from something that should have stayed buried. This one leans hard into weird horror: the kind where reality starts slipping, the rules stop making sense, and survival suddenly feels like a temporary condition.• Saint Jimmy — by Dan WilderA freak sound-based time-rip sends Jimmy hurtling through alternate timelines, self-inflicted paradoxes, and one gloriously deranged Y2K nightmare ruled by a leather-clad tyrant and his skeletal minions. It's funny, chaotic, weird as hell, and loaded with sci-fi panic and end-of-the-world absurdity. • The Fun in Funerals — by David O'HanlonA dead clown's funeral becomes a grotesque midnight hunt when the mourners must satisfy an ancient code or face the return of something far worse than death. This one is savage, darkly funny, and drenched in monstrous carnival energy. • Last Stand — by Rob FieldsWith Hellweaver closing in on the Infinity Core and the Reality Sphere in her grasp, the last heroes of the Battleguard gather for a doomed, universe-saving final battle. This is pure multiverse sci-fi horror spectacle with cosmic stakes and relentless devastation. • The Last Days of Jimmy Flavor — by David O'HanlonA drifting burnout reinvents himself as “Jimmy Flavor” and gets pulled into a Vatican-backed theft, an occult conspiracy, and a nightmare pursuit involving ancient books, cult magic, and a gut-churning creature that refuses to stop hunting. Mean, strange, and desperate in all the right ways. From torn-open timelines to infernal artifacts, undead clown law, and the collapse of whole realities, this compilation is all about staring into the impossible and realizing it is staring right back.
Bomani and Vinny Goodwill unpack an NBA postseason that makes no sense in the best way. Bomani Jones is joined by ESPN's Vinnie Goodwill to talk through why this Knicks team has no excuse not to make the NBA Finals, the delicate balance between Jalen Brunson's usage and unlocking Karl-Anthony Towns, and whether Boston's ceiling is lower than people want to admit with this version of Jason Tatum coming off the Achilles injury. From there, they dive into Victor Wembanyama's terrifying playoff debut, why the Spurs already look ahead of schedule, and how Oklahoma City vs. San Antonio feels like a looming Western Conference war. They also hit LeBron, KD, and the aging superstar class who can still hit the “high notes” for one night even if they can't live there anymore. Later, Bomani and Vinnie break down Adam Silver's new anti‑tanking lottery rules, what it means for franchises like Detroit and Orlando, and why conditioning young stars to lose might be the most underrated failure of “The Process” era in Philly. Plus, what the league should actually be embarrassed by, and why Steve Ballmer's Kawhi situation is way more complicated than internet outrage allows. Learn more about your ad choices. -The Southern Poverty Law Center is declared “toast,” as Rob connects years of “white privilege” narratives to what he calls a coordinated psy-op—apparently the longest-running guilt trip in modern history. -Victor Davis Hanson calmly explains that Iran's master strategy is basically “stall and hope,” while Rob translates that into: “We have all the cards, they have a stopwatch and a prayer.” -Tony Kinnett (Daily Signal / WIBC Radio) joins via the “Newsmax hotline” and dives into the SPLC controversy, arguing the indictment exposes a long-running scheme where the organization allegedly funded and amplified extremist activity for political gain. He frames the moment as a major collapse of the left's “moral façade,” compares it to past political scandals, and adds sharp humor—likening legal defenses to absurd excuses—while also weighing in on Virginia redistricting and Second Amendment debates with a mix of insider commentary and sarcasm. Bottoms Up! Steven, Sage, and Jawan Talk Survivor 50 Survivor 49's alliance “Bottoms Up” unites as Rob Cesternino sits down with Jawan, Sage, and Steven for a dynamic Survivor 50 recap. The trio relive the biggest Tribal Council in Survivor history, unpacking the strategy behind the 14-person vote and dissecting how new-era gameplay shakes up the battlefield. This episode zeroes in on the luck, loyalty, and shifting alliances that make Survivor's landmark season a wild ride. Rob and his guests dive into the clash between old-school and new-school players, exploring why the veteran group is holding strong while the newer faces struggle to find their footing. They highlight Rizo's surprising run, debating whether his chameleon gameplay and willingness to play the “little brother” role to Survivor legends is keeping him safe—or painting a target on his back. The crew also weighs in on Cirie's magnetism and how her alliances with Ozzy and Rizo could change the game, and they can't help but wonder if Rizo will make the big move against Cirie if it means grabbing the win for himself. – Why Rizo's “Robin to Batman” approach is winning him friends and idols, but could backfire – The old-school alliance's tight grip versus the chaos of new-era gameplay – D's bold Tribal scramble and whether it's better to fight or play dead when you're on the chopping block – The rise of “double agents” and where power really lies as voting blocks take over post-merge – How Sage accidentally stars in a viral Allure article about “snatched” Survivor contestants As alliances shift, Bottoms Up asks: Will Rizo take out Cirie or ride shotgun to the finals and risk losing it all? Which “honor and integrity” player will become the next big target, and can the new-schoolers pull off a comeback?
