Excelsior True Believers! It's been a little less than 5 years since Stan “The Man” Lee web-swung his way off this mortal coil and into the Great Bullpen in the sky. Disney+ on June 16 released the autobiographical “Stan Lee” for streaming. The hour and 20 minute long documentary tells Stan's story in his words. Coupled with pictures, audio, and new animations Stan walks us through his extraordinary life as Marvels' merry editor-in-chief and more! The master of alliteration and King of the Cameo is certainly missed in the hearts and minds of all his fans. Join us for our thoughts on the documentary, The Man, and the Legend that is Stan Lee! IT'S EPISODE 100!!! Yes folks, the day no one, including myself, thought would ever come has arrived. Episode 100 of Just One of the Guys is up and ready for your perusal, and hopefully you will find it to be as enjoyable as the comics we are covering...maybe even moreso. First off we cover issue 100 of Green Lantern, where Kyle meets up with Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps, gets in a fight with Lantern arch-villain Sinestro, and accidentally brings Hal into the post Parallax present. How will Jordan cope with the 90's? Will Sinestro finally destroy the Guardians? And will Terry Austin over ink the book again? The answers might surprise you. Plus we finish up our coverage of the Green Lantern Corps Quarterly books with issue number 8. This time out Alan Scott faces off against a villain so nineties that Youngblood called and told him to tone that sh!t down, Lobo and Jack T Chance square off because, you know, THE NINETIES, and Probert snaps a misogynistic douchebag's leg at the knee in a story penned by the "Manliest Man in Comicdom", Beau Smith! And if that wasn't enough, I've brought my very good friend Thomas Deja (Better in the Dark, Damn Your Eyes! Damn Your Ears!, and Shadow Legion: New Roads to Hell) to help banter about all the Green Lantern goodness. So unless you want to find out what Dask Noir actually smells like, I suggest you grab your mp3 player of choice, download the show, and get to listening!Feedback for this show can be sent to: justoneoftheguyspodcast@gmail.comJust One Of The Guys is a proud member of the Two True Freaks! We wish you a Merry Christmas, we wish you a Merry Christmas, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! That's right, it's Christmastime, and what better way to celebrate than with a nice scrummy portion of tasty podcast goodness? This episode of The Parlour sees Stacey joined by returning guest and person-still-willing-to-share-a-hotel-room-with-Stacey; Jenni Newman! The ladies recall their experiences at Thought Bubble Comic Con in Leeds last month, chatting about their nerves approaching the Gods and Goddesses of Comicdom, their purchases, sharing a hotel room, and the highlights of the con. Also contains a somewhat spoilery review of the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special (can you say HELL YEAH?!) and a lot of gushing about Jamie Smart's Kochi Wanaba hardback.Stacey and Jenni also get all festive up in here, naming their Top 3 Christmas Films! So grab a nice hot chocolate (or a mulled wine, if you're feeling properly festive), a wedge of Christmas pud (or, if like Stacey you hate the fruits involved in a Christmas pud, a slice of Yule log) and enjoy this latest installment of Stacey's Pop Culture Parlour!Episode Theme - 'Cool Yule' by Bette MidlerEnd Theme - 'Sleigh Ride' by She & HimPS. Hello, Stacey here to say 2 things;1. Once again I have to apologise for some technical issues; I actually did quite well editing out the zillion-and-one times one of us lost audio entirely and we had to drop the call, but there are still some weird things going on. Occasionally it skips bits of our sentences, and we lose sound on Jenni once or twice, and I apologise. I reckon it's Skynet trying to sabotage me...2. MERRY CHRISTMAS! Thank you to all those who choose to spend their spare time listening to me and my buddies ramble about the things we do/read/see/listen to; I am very thankful for every single listener, and I hope you all have a fun, safe, happy, pressie-filled Christmas, and all the best for the New Year! Have fun and be merry, y'all!!S x
