A Word With You
Supermen Are Breakable - #9819

A Word With You

Play Episode Listen Later Aug 29, 2024

So there have been several Supermen, well, you know, men who have played Superman over the years. From TV to all the movies. The first one was George Reeves, on the TV show many years ago. Some supermen have had tragic lives. George Reeves who played Superman from 1951 to 1958 actually committed suicide after his career had stalled. He was forever typecast as Superman. Then another actor, Christopher Reeve, who played Superman in five films, became paralyzed in 1995 from an equestrian accident where he was thrown from his horse. These actors played the part of a man who was invincible, but "behind the role" was the awful reality. I'm Ron Hutchcraft and I want to have A Word With You today about "Supermen Are Breakable"! Actually, many men have discovered that fact in their own lives. Our half of the human race has been raised to believe that we've got to be super men. The world thinks we've got it together; we feel no pain, we've got it under control. But as a man, you know there's a "real you" behind the part - a wounded warrior; maybe bleeding a lot on the inside; maybe a scared little boy underneath a mask of macho confidence; and you don't have it all under control. Superman, in reality, is breakable or broken. Our word for today from the Word Of God introduces us to a "Superman" of another time and the dark secret that was beyond all his "Superness." 2 Kings 5:1 - "Now Naaman was commander of the army of the King of Aram. He was a great man in the sight of his master and highly regarded because through him the Lord had given victory to Aram. He was a valiant soldier..." Okay, this guy was a "Superman" of his time, but he had a secret, a dark secret: he was dying of leprosy. In verse 3, one of his servants said, "If only my master would see the prophet who's in Samaria. He would cure him of his leprosy." So Naaman goes for that cure, but it requires humility. He didn't like the cure prescribed: he had to wash in the dirty Jordan River. He says, "Couldn't I wash in one of the streams back home and be cleansed?" It says he went off in a rage! He was proud, and he was dying from it. Finally, he chose to be well rather than be in charge. In chapter 5, verse 14, it says, "He dipped himself in the Jordan seven times, as the man of God had told him, and his flesh was restored and became clean like that of a young boy." I wonder if God brought us together today because He knows you're a modern day Naaman. He knows the dark spot behind the mask and He wants to cure it. But you first have to accept His diagnosis and His cure. The diagnosis is that you've got terminal spiritual cancer. It's called sin! No matter how religious, no matter how respected you may be, you've broken God's laws and you've run the life that your Creator was supposed to run and your "my way" of living has left you fatally separated from God. The cure requires humility - the admission that you cannot save yourself - and then a trip, not to a dirty river, but to a dying Savior's cross. There you say, "Jesus, it's my sin You're dying for, isn't it? I need to be forgiven. I need a Savior. I can't be my own savior, I want You as my savior. I belong to You from this day on." The result - the same as it was for Naaman: you're restored, you're clean, you're new! Haven't you run from Jesus or put Him off long enough? Let this be the day you run to Him! Discover in the man Jesus, who walked 33 years as a man. He gets us guys. When you discover in Him all the love and all the power that has eluded you, all the peace, all the fulfillment, all the worth and the ability to change what you could never change, you discover that when you get to Jesus and say, "Jesus, I'm Yours." This could be your day to get started with Him. Will you tell Him, "Jesus, I'm Yours." It'll change everything. Go to our website. I think it'll help. It's ANewStory.com. Superman really is breakable or broken. Don't make that eternally fatal mistake of being so proud you die from it. Your Savior is waiting!

A few weeks back we discussed unfilmable books. One that is often brought up is Cormac McCarthy's Blood Meridian. Reportedly, another adaptation is in the works. There is a reason that the many attempts to adapt it have fallen apart, however. As the name implies, Southern Gothic is a subgenre that is heavily influenced by elements of the American south. Anne Rice and A Streetcar Named Desire are two of the most well known examples. This week we look at one author's struggle to complete her novel.Flannery O'Connor wrote a number of stories that used elements of her upbringing. Starring Maya Hawke and directed by her father Ethan, Wildcat examines how her life and works connected. Maya's performance is fantastic and includes some real standout moments. That being said, there were some surprising missteps.Since the birth of the internet people have asked serious questions. Who would win in a fight between Goku and the Hulk? Could Lancelot best Luke Skywalker in a duel? A/S/L? One of the things young internet denizens argued about was who would win in a one-on-one battle between Bruce Lee and Superman. As it turns out, a 1975 movie dared to give this match to audiences. It is certainly a risk. Both are incredibly popular, meaning it was going to be impossible to not anger some viewers. Plus, how could any film possibly live up to what would certainly be sky high expectations? Worse yet, what if it is a bait and switch?Bruce Lee vs Superman (or Bruce Lee Against the Supermen or Superdragon vs Superman) is far from a perfect movie - or even a good one - but it presents the fight it advertises. There is more than just the slugfest between the two iconic heroes, however. Green Hornet, Kato, and possibly the wildest rickshaw scene in the history of cinema all get involved. It may not be the best Bruceploitation movie, but it is hard to believe there is anything zanier. Adventures in Movies! is a part of the Morbidly Beautiful Podcast Network. Dollarama is the source of all cheap comics. But Dollarama is primarily owned by Bain Capital. So is it that Mitt Romney put Crisis on Multiple Earths Volume 2 in our hands? Do we have the Republican establishment to thank for bringing Dennis O'Neil deeper into our lives? Would that establishment take kindly to the message broadcast through these weird tales of sublimated sexual confusion and desire? No one can answer these questions. We know only the bounty of Dollarama and give thanks to Bain Capital for its blessings. "Meanwhile, the two Supermen have battled each other, first to a standstill-- and then, to a lie-still!"

I am an EX Super Soldier from Black Operations in Deep Underground Military Bases. I am from Project Mannequin, SeaGate, Montauk, Looking Glass, Alpha, Beta, Delta, Secret Space Program, Harmonic Programming with Dolphins, and every other MKUltra Project stemming from Operation PaperClip at the end of WWII. I am a survivor of PizzaGate. I was born 9-12-74. I met my real dad, Philip Baglio when I was 18. He informed me that the Sicilian side of my family had mafia connections. My grandparents on my mother's side of the family raised me. My grandfather was SC1 US Navy, WWII, on a mind sweeper ship. My grandfather was an unknowing and unwilling candidate in the Navy's human experimentation projects. The Projects that I am specifically exposing are the ones where Adolf Hitler was creating Supermen, the Ultimate War Fighting Weapon. There was gene splicing used in my creation. I was nicknamed, “Death” over the man who created me, The Angel of Death from WWII, Josef Mengele. He locked me and the other kids in cages, used trauma and torture based mind controlled techniques, surgically enhanced us, and electrocuted us to fracture our minds in efforts to train us for all sorts of missions. Some of us children were used for military reasons, or sent into Hollywood, music industry, medical industry, politics and journalism, etc, etc.All my life from birth until December 2011, I recall being trafficked and tracked by the military and government, as well as, serving as a Soldier on Black Operations.I woke up December 2014 to the fact that I was used as a Super Soldier, and have a Calling upon my life from YHWH. The most favorite part of my life is discussing how YHWH called me out of the darkness and got me free from the cages. When Max Spiers was assassinated July 2016, I felt urgency in my soul that I needed to come forward to the public. Since August 2016 I whistle blow about Child Trafficking, Satanic Ritual Abuse, Deep Underground Military Bases and what really happens in them. Our kids are still being trafficked and by giving my testimony, I feel like I can go back for them. I released a copyrighted rough draft of my autobiography, Kids in a Cage, December 2019. In addition, I have over 80 drawings that I created which coincide with my testimony. Please email me at YHVHsHollyBaglio11@protonmail.com. I will respond with my book. Yes, THE Roger Stern! It took months of work to get this storytelling master to sit down for an interview, and we hope you agree that it was worth it. We dug into as much of his career as we could, starting with the fanzine CPL with Bob Layton, moving through the Charlton Bullseye, and on to his big break as editor and then writer at Marvel. And that's only the first 10 minutes! Of course, we had to get to Captain America, Incredible Hulk, Avengers (original and West Coast varieties), and the Amazing Spider-Man, including co-creating Hobgoblin with JRJR. Next we take another swing through the Triangle Era of Superman, including Death of Superman and Reign of the Supermen. Finally, we end on his later Marvel collaborations with Kurt Busiek on Iron Man and Avengers Forever. It's a wild ride, Banditos!
