Book Title: The Blazing World: A New History of Revolutionary England, 1603-1689 Author: Jonathan HealeyHeadline: James II, Catholicism, and the Glorious Revolution James II, brother of Charles II, converted to Catholicism, leading to a movement to exclude him from the throne during Charles's reign. Becoming king in 1685, James II alienated his natural supporters, the Tories, by favoring Catholics. The birth of his Catholic son solidified the fears of a perpetual Catholic monarchy. In 1688, Whigs and Tories invited William of Orange to intervene, leading to James II fleeing and the peaceful Glorious Revolution. 1649

An alternative to frp and ngrok. Features High Performance Much higher throughput can be achieved than frp, and more stable when handling a large volume of connections. Low Resource Consumption Consumes much fewer memory than similar tools. See Benchmark. The binary can be as small as ~500KiB to fit the constraints of devices, like embedded devices as routers. On my server, it's currently using about 2.7MB in Docker (wow!) Security Tokens of services are mandatory and service-wise. The server and clients are responsible for their own configs. With the optional Noise Protocol, encryption can be configured at ease. No need to create a self-signed certificate! TLS is also supported. Hot Reload Services can be added or removed dynamically by hot-reloading the configuration file. HTTP API is WIP. Brian #2: pre-commit: install with uv Adam Johnson pre-commit doesn't natively support uv, but you can get around that with pre-commit-uv $ uv tool install pre-commit --with pre-commit-uv Installing pre-commit like this Installs it globally Installs with uv adds an extra plugin “pre-commit-uv” to pre-commit, so that any Python based tool installed via pre-commit also uses uv Very cool. Nice speedup Brian #3: A good example of what functools.Placeholder from Python 3.14 allows Rodrigo Girão Serrão Remove punctuation functionally Also How to use functools.Placeholder, a blog post about it. functools.partial is cool way to create a new function that partially binds some parameters to another function. It doesn't always work for functions that take positional arguments. functools.Placeholder fixes that with the ability to put in placeholders for spots where you want to be able to pass that in from the outer partial binding. And all of this sounds totally obscure without a good example, so thank you to Rodgrigo for coming up with the punctuation removal example (and writeup) Michael #4: Converted 160 old blog posts with AI They were held-hostage at wordpress.com to markdown and integrated them into my Hugo site at mkennedy.codes Here is the chat conversation with Claude Opus/Sonnet. Had to juggle this a bit because the RSS feed only held the last 50. So we had to go back in and web scrape. That resulted in oddies like comments on wordpress that had to be cleaned etc. Whole process took 3-4 hours from idea to “production”duction”. The chat transcript is just the first round getting the RSS → Hugo done. The fixes occurred in other chats. BREAK: Ingles Markets 6 STORY 1: Former hotel near Six Flags converted to housing for homeless vets What was once a run-down hotel near Six Flags is now a lifeline for 88 homeless veterans. The Tunnel to Towers Foundation officially opened its Atlanta Veterans Village this week, turning the old Wingate into permanent housing with on-site support services. The building, now fully renovated, offers furnished apartments, PTSD treatment, job help, and even an AI assistant named “Kathleen.” Veterans will pay no more than 30% of their income in rent. STORY 2: Marietta advances Cherokee Street widening plan The Marietta City Council is pushing ahead with plans to widen Cherokee Street, but forget the roundabouts—they’re not happening. The project, which will add a third lane from Chicopee Drive to Vann Street, started with three options. Public Works Director Mark Rice laid them out: one plan realigns the intersection at Canton Road, another adds a single roundabout, and the third proposes two roundabouts. The council’s Public Works Committee agreed. They’re sticking with the realignment plan, estimated at $7.8 million, and aiming to start within three years. STORY 3: Cobb approves road safety measures after 12-year-old hit by car After a tragic accident left a 12-year-old boy with life-altering injuries, Cobb County is taking action. The Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a $146,966 contract to improve safety near Davis Elementary School, where Preston Veal was hit by a van in June while crossing Jamerson Road. The plan? Realign traffic lanes and install a flashing beacon at the intersection. The community has been pushing for change—703 people signed a petition demanding safer crossings. Work is set to begin soon, with completion expected in 60 days. We have opportunities for sponsors to get great engagement on these shows. Call 770.799.6810 for more info. We’ll be right back. Break: Ingles Markets 6 STORY 4: Marietta ethics complaint ban tabled ahead of November election A plan to ban ethics complaints during election season? Tabled—for now. The City Council’s Judicial Legislative Committee, led by Councilwoman Cheryl Richardson, hit pause on the controversial proposal this week. Mayor Steve Tumlin, who vetoed the amendment earlier, had strong words. Meanwhile, other council business rolled on: adding two school resource officers, renewing the Stop Arm safety program, and debating higher booting fees for big rigs. Speed studies? Also on the agenda. STORY 5: OUT AND ABOUT: 5 things to do this weekend in Cobb County — Aug. 29 - 31 Marietta’s keeping the Labor Day vibes alive with the 39th annual Art in the Park Festival this weekend. Check the festival’s website. Need a laugh? “Comedy on the Square” hits the Alley Stage Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $27—grab them online or at the door. Farmers markets? Mableton’s Epic Market runs all weekend, and Smyrna’s Handmade Market is Sunday. Fresh produce, artisan goods, and good vibes await. 13 You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt lose its savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is good for nothing any more but to be cast out, and to be trodden on by men.Vos estis sal terrae. Quod si sal evanuerit, in quo salietur? ad nihilum valet ultra, nisi ut mittatur foras, et conculcetur ab hominibus. 14 You are the light of the world. A city seated on a mountain cannot be hid.Vos estis lux mundi. Non potest civitas abscondi supra montem posita, 15 Neither do men light a candle and put it under a bushel, but upon a candlestick, that it may shine to all that are in the house.neque accedunt lucernam, et ponunt eam sub modio, sed super candelabrum, ut luceat omnibus qui in domo sunt. 16 So let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.Sic luceat lux vestra coram hominibus : ut videant opera vestra bona, et glorificent Patrem vestrum, qui in caelis est. 17 Do not think that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets. I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.Nolite putare quoniam veni solvere legem, aut prophetas : non veni solvere, sed adimplere. 18 For amen I say unto you, till heaven and earth pass, one jot, or one tittle shall not pass of the law, till all be fulfilled.Amen quippe dico vobis, donec transeat caelum et terra, jota unum aut unus apex non praeteribit a lege, donec omnia fiant. 19 He therefore that shall break one of these least commandments, and shall so teach men, shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven. But he that shall do and teach, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.Qui ergo solverit unum de mandatis istis minimis, et docuerit sic homines, minimus vocabitur in regno caelorum : qui autem fecerit et docuerit, hic magnus vocabitur in regno caelorumAugustine, born at Tagaste (Africa) in 354, was the son of St Monica and of a pagan father, Patricus. His mind was ensnared by errors and his soul and his body corrupted by debauchery and impurity. Converted by the prayers of his mother, he became one of the most famous Doctors of the West and a Father of the Church. He died after an episcopate of 36 years at Hippo (Africa) A.D. 430.
Jeran Campanella, widely known as @jeranism was once a leading figure in the Flat Earth community, creating content, debating scientists, and building a large following around his beliefs. His perspective changed dramatically after he joined an expedition to Antarctica, where he witnessed the 24-hour sun, an experience that convinced him the Earth is a globe. Since then, he has openly shared his transformation, facing heavy criticism and backlash from the Flat Earth community, while offering a rare insight into the mindset and journey of someone who publicly changed sides in such a controversial debate. ————————————————————
On this week's Political Breakfast, the gang taps into rumors of former Republican Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan, who recently converted to the Democratic Party, running for Georgia Governor. The 2026 race is crowded and competitive on both sides of the aisle. Plus, Gabe Sterling, one of the faces of Georgia's Secretary of State's office, is stepping down from his position as Chief Operating Officer. Does he have his eyes set on somewhere else? Democratic strategist Tharon Johnson, Republican strategist Brian Robinson, and host Lisa Rayam also commemorate the 20-year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, which drove and estimated 100 thousand evacuees to Georgia. Many stayed and continued to live in metro Atlanta. The city also honored the 62nd anniversary of the March on Washington over the weekend. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

This is a Grave Talks CLASSIC EPISODE! Tucked away in the small town of Malvern, Iowa, stands a building with a history as chilling as the activity that now fills its empty halls. Malvern Manor began in the late 1800s as a family-owned hotel, serving travelers from the nearby railroad. But when the age of the automobile took over, the guests stopped coming—and the building's purpose took a much darker turn. Converted into a convalescent home, it housed patients suffering from addiction, schizophrenia, and other mental illnesses. Reports of neglect, abuse, and inhumane conditions plagued its reputation until it was finally shut down—its doors locked, everything left behind. Today, Malvern Manor is open once again, but not for healing. Paranormal investigators, skeptics, and thrill-seekers now visit to confront whatever still resides there. In Part One of this two-part conversation, we sit down with owner Josh Heard to explore the haunted legacy of one of Iowa's most terrifying locations. This is a replay of an episode that originally aired on March 19, 2024. An insured's detached garage burns down in a covered lightning strike, and somehow it's not covered just because of a little side hustle? The PLRB crew hunt for coverage and find what the insurer can pay out on when an insured rents out their property without updating their insurance company. Notable Timestamps [ 00:17 ] - The insured remodeled their detached garage for use as an AirBNB rental, but never notified their insurer. The garage burned down, and the insured files a claim for the property damage, contents, and nearby oak tree that also burned down. [ 02:40 ] - This scenario's policy explicity does not cover structures “held for rental”, so this clause would apply even though no guests were present on the date of loss. [ 05:50 ] - The contents would likely be covered as long as the detached garage is not considered an “apartment.” [ 07:42 ] - However, the Special Limit of Liability would limit that contents recovery to $3,000 under this policy. [ 08:04 ] - AirBNB provides a form of coverage which they state is not insurance, but it likely applies only when guests were, at minimum, present. [ 09:52 ] - The oak tree is also covered, but likely limited to $500. [ 11:13 ] - In a variation on the scenario, the group discusses that property of tenants would likely not be covered. [ 13:26 ] - Fair rental value coverage only applies to covered losses. [ 14:50 ] - Clauses on “homesharing activities” are more frequently appearing in newer forms. [ 16:30 ] - Tim provides a recap of the scenario and the points above. In this episode I talked with Dr. Dale Ahlquist. Dr. Ahlquist is the co-founder of Chesterton Academy, the President of the Society of Gilbert Keith Chesterton, and the creator and host of the EWTN series “G.K. Chesterton: The Apostle of Common Sense.” He is known as the world leading expert on G.K. Chesterton and is the author of the commentary on Chesterton's book, The Everlasting Man.In our conversation we talked about how The Everlasting Man was the book that converted C.S. Lewis to Christianity, and why Lewis said that this book put forth the best explanation of Christianity that he had ever read. We discussed Chesterton's intellectual ability despite his dropping out of college and never pursuing a higher education. And finally, we discussed what Chesterton would have thought about the modern world we live in today. I hope you enjoy! Why I Haven't Converted to Orthodox or Catholic ChristianityIn this thought-provoking episode, Ruslan KD unpacks the real reason he hasn't converted to Eastern Orthodoxy or Catholicism—despite growing up Oriental Orthodox and having deep respect for high church traditions. Drawing from personal experience, theological study, and conversations with priests across Christian streams, Ruslan explores the debate around apostolic succession and the structure of church leadership. He challenges the common assumption that Protestants lack historical or biblical legitimacy and explains why many remain unconvinced by the high church claim to be the "one true church." This episode also features insights from the YouTube channel Biblical Understanding and tackles early church writings from Ignatius, Clement, and Jerome. Whether you're Protestant, Orthodox, Catholic, or just curious, this conversation sheds light on the theological framework behind Ruslan's convictions—and why he believes Scripture remains the final authority.

Thank you for sharing your day with us, we would love to hear from you, your feedback is very important.Ephesians 2:1-3 (NASB)CHAPTER 2Made Alive in Christ1 And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, 2 in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience. 3 Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest.Power To Change Ministry Rev. But even though Joe spent much of his life as a devoted Jew, practicing rabbinical rules and trying to earn favor with God, something still seemed to be missing. After attending a cult meeting, Joe was so unsettled by the cult's depiction of Jesus, he decided to read a Christian Bible for the first time… and had no idea what God was about to do. We as Christians are very much taught to learn and understand who God is, His character, His attributes, His person, etc. Remember when Jesus asked His disciples, “Whom do men say that I am?” … As Christians, this is good and much needed to know in Him in whom we serve… But crucially, when we become, “Converted,” or “Born Again,” we are no longer who we WERE, therefore, the question is, wha ARE WE NOW? This message will be completing it with part 3 of the series called, “Fulfilling our Identity in Christ,”… What it means to be a “soldier” for the Kingdom of God! This study is intended to draw us further into the evidence, recognition, and application of our IDENTITY!

Organizations love to optimize—but often forget what, or who, they're optimizing for. When teams are built around internal structures rather than customer outcomes, even the best strategies become slow to adapt.Author and data analyst Neil Hoyne and Pini Yakuel explore how behavioral rigidity, not technical limitations, holds most companies back. Drawing from principles in Neil Hoyne's book, Converted, they argue for a shift toward systems that favor adaptability, exploration, and proximity to the customer. Because in a world shaped by AI, the real competitive edge is not just speed—it's staying meaningfully connected to the people you serve.Key TakeawaysWhen roles become identities, organizations lose flexibility. Over-specialization makes it harder for teams to respond to evolving customer needs.Behavioral defaults—not tech—often slow teams down. Loyalty to familiar workflows or team structures can block innovation, even when tools are available.AI works best when aligned with real customer strategy. It's not a shortcut or a strategy in itself—it's a multiplier for what actually matters.Customer-centricity requires outcome-driven teams. Structuring around internal functions, rather than external impact, leads to misaligned incentives.Small shifts in ownership create big changes in experience. Empowering teams to work across silos—even partially—brings them closer to the customer, and closer to results.Key Quotes[00:13:50] “Marketing teams don't just bake bread—they are bread. It's not just what they do; it's who they've become. So when the shift happens—when the customer wants cupcakes instead—they miss it entirely. Because they weren't watching the customer. They were defending the bread.” – Neil Hoyne[00:21:13] “If your strategy is ‘use AI better than the competition,' you don't have a strategy.” – Neil Hoyne[00:25:46] “Accelerate what already works. Tactics are multipliers, not miracles.” – Pini[00:46:47] “Positionless isn't binary. Can you let a team own 10% of something, start to finish?” – Pini Yakuel[00:51:39] “We've gone too far into specialization. It's time to bring back the craftsman.” – Neil HoyneAssociated Links:Learn more about Optimove's platformsLearn more about Positionless MarketingRead Converted by Neil HoyneCheck out Future Commerce on YouTubeCheck out Future Commerce+ for exclusive content and save on merch and printSubscribe to Insiders and The Senses to read more about what we are witnessing in the commerce worldListen to our other episodes of Future CommerceHave any questions or comments about the show? He graduated and started working in corporate America. He was posted to Saltillo, Mexico, the "Detroit" of Mexico. There he met and reached out to his future wife, Rosario Padilla. He brought her to the nearest church 90 minutes away in Monterrey, Mexico. He began meeting with his small group on Wednesdays and after a few years helped form a team from Monterrey that supplemented the growing group of disciples in Saltillo. When he left after ten years, the church was at 30 members. The church is still there and Jose Luis continues to support his "organic" church planting through his tithing. Find out how they did it in this episode of the Rob Skinner Podcast!

After decades of shared faith in the Church of Christ and later at an evangelical nondenominational church, Zane made the decision to convert to Catholicism. It's Thursday, May 22nd, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Pakistani Muslim man abducted, forcibly converted, and “married” Christian teen A Christian 15-year-old girl in Pakistan reunited with her parents yesterday after being abducted five months ago. A 29-year-old Muslim man, Muhammad Anees, kidnapped her with four other men from her aunt's home, forcibly converted her to Islam, and married her. The girl suffered abuse for months and is now pregnant. Attorney Hanif Hameed told Morning Star News, “This is a clear case of false conversion and fake marriage to cover the crime of abduction and rape.” Sadly, such cases are increasing in the South Asian country. Pakistan is ranked eighth on the Open Doors' World Watch List of nations where it is most difficult to be a Christian. Billy Graham Association to host evangelism meeting in Germany The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association is hosting the largest meeting on evangelism in 25 years in Berlin, Germany later this month. It's the same location that Rev. Billy Graham held the first World Congress on Evangelism in 1966. Evangelist Franklin Graham is focusing the upcoming event on the church in Europe. Listen to his comments to CBN News. GRAHAM: “We want to ignite a fire in Europe to where there's an excitement for evangelism and the churches are willing to be bold and not ashamed of the Gospel. “We've got Ukrainian churches coming. We have churches coming from Russia. You know, some say, ‘These countries are at war.' Yes, they are, but the Gospel is more powerful than any of that stuff.” In Romans 1:16, the Apostle Paul wrote, “I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes.” Trump announces “Golden Dome” missile defense system U.S. President Donald Trump announced plans for a $175 billion missile defense system on Tuesday. U.S. Space Force General Michael Guetlein is leading the project, known as the “Golden Dome.” Trump said the system should be completed in about three years. Defunding Planned Parenthood remains in Trump's budget bill A handful of conservative Republicans, who hesitated to support Trump's “big, beautiful bill,” appear ready to support the massive package after a furious pressure campaign from President Trump and Speaker Mike Johnson, reports The Hill. After meeting with Trump at the White House on Wednesday afternoon, and then huddling together afterward on Capitol Hill, the members of the conservative Freedom Caucus emerged to say they're on the cusp of supporting the package — if a laundry list of changes promised by the White House is reflected in the final proposal. Their newfound enthusiasm appears to stem from assurances Trump and Johnson made during the White House meeting, including a promise from the president to issue more executive orders addressing some of the spending concerns the conservatives couldn't secure in the legislation, and expanding the rollback of green energy tax credits enacted in the Democrats' 2022 Inflation Reduction Act. The bill seeks to deliver on Trump's key campaign promises, including making permanent Trump's 2017 tax cuts and eliminating taxes on tips. And, thanks in part to the calls of Worldview listeners, the defunding of Planned Parenthood remains in the bill. Court: Florida should require parental consent for a minor's abortion Last Friday, a federal appeals court ruled against a Florida law that allows minors to get abortions without parental consent. A three-judge panel of the U.S. Fifth District Court of Appeals ruled that the law was unconstitutional and violated parental rights. The decision stated, “Whatever asserted constitutional abortion rights may have justified Florida's [law] in the past unequivocally have been repudiated by both the U.S. Supreme Court and the Florida Supreme Court.” Married, employed, church-attending people happier Harvard University recently published their Global Flourishing Study which surveyed 200,000 people across 22 countries over the past five years. The study found people experienced higher levels of wellbeing when married, employed, and attending religious services. Professor Tyler VanderWeele led the research. He noted, “Religious service attendance was one of the factors most consistently associated with present or subsequent wellbeing, across countries and across outcomes.” Anniversary of First Council of Nicaea And finally, this month marks the anniversary of the First Council of Nicaea, 1,700 years ago. In May A.D. 325, about 300 Christian leaders convened in the city of Nicaea, located in modern-day Turkey. The council dealt with the doctrine of the Trinity. In particular, the church at the time had to refute the heresy of Arianism, which denied that Jesus is fully and eternally divine. The council went on to affirm the Trinity and Christ as fully God in the Nicene Creed. It is recited by churches worldwide to this day. The creed affirms there is “one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all worlds; God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God; begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father, by Whom all things were made.” John 1:1 and 4 says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. ... In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Thursday, May 22nd, in the year of our Lord 2025.
