The latest of our RE-HEATED series, where we re-issue episodes that might share something with racing stories in the news… Episode 30 featuring Johnny O'Connell. If you're going to do a podcast about icons of motorsport, then Johnny O'Connell is a mandatory visit. As one of the most charismatic guys in modern sportscar, Johnny is wicked fast, you'll know this because he'll tell you…. having (according to him) been a second faster than every teammate he's ever had. Beyond speed, however, Johnny brings results. As the winningest driver in GM history, Johnny took four consecutive World Challenge championships to go with his four class wins at Le Mans. One of the funniest and most likable guys in the paddock, we were happy to treat him to lunch at Moonie's Texas Barbecue in Flowery Branch, Georgia, with the music of Wrecks playing us out. Thanks to Continental Tire for all of their support!

Is the Democratic Party collapsing under the weight of anti-Semitism, open-border policies, identity politics, and the abandonment of working-class voters? Or is something even bigger happening beneath the surface? Batya Ungar-Sargon joins Jillian Michaels for one of the most explosive conversations of the year. From the growing divide inside MAGA to the civil war tearing apart the Left, Batya exposes the political realignment nobody in the mainstream media wants to talk about. Why are Black voters abandoning Democrats? Why are former liberals sounding the alarm? And why are Americans increasingly rejecting the political establishment on both sides? Plus: Trump's biggest test yet. Will the Iran crisis end in peace, regime change, or a wider war? What happens if Trump's strategy succeeds—and what happens if it fails? Batya also breaks down the shocking alliance forming between the woke right and the woke left, the Israel-Gaza debate consuming American politics, the controversies surrounding Sam Harris and Megyn Kelly, and the argument at the center of her explosive new book. And looking ahead to 2026 and beyond: Could the midterms become a political bloodbath? Is the future of the Republican Party JD Vance or Marco Rubio? Is the Democratic Party headed toward Gavin Newsom, AOC, or something even more radical? The answers may surprise you. The same instinct that makes you a careful clinician may be the one sabotaging your financial future. Cardiologist and fiduciary financial planner Stanley Liu joins this episode to explain why physicians' deeply trained aversion to risk becomes maladaptive once it leaves the hospital. This episode is based on his article "Physician financial risk: Balancing capacity and tolerance," published on KevinMD. You will learn why risk capacity and risk tolerance are two different variables, and why mistaking one for the other quietly drives bad financial decisions. You will hear why the physicians most at financial risk are those with low capacity and high tolerance, and why high-earning doctors with no debt sometimes stay stuck in toxic jobs they have the financial freedom to leave. You will also learn what questions a planner asks to surface the money scripts shaping your choices. Send us Fan Mail## Episode 8: The Physics of Stress – How Emotional Tension Wrecks Your PostureHave you ever been told by a doctor that you "just need to get rid of your stress"? If only it were that easy! In Part 8 of our 12-week "Wellness Lifecycle" series, Dr. Brant Hulsebus dives into the actual physics of stress. We often think of stress as a purely emotional experience, but your body reacts to a tough day at the office exactly the same way a hunter-gatherer's body reacts to being chased by a bear. Learn how chronic emotional tension locks your autonomic nervous system into "fight or flight" mode, altering your cholesterol, shutting down your digestion, and literally forcing your spine into a defensive "fetal curve." ### In this episode, you'll learn:* **The Bear vs. Modern Life:** Why your body responds to a stressful email by spiking your cholesterol and shutting down your immune system.* **The Fetal Curve:** The biological reason emotional stress causes rounded shoulders, tight upper backs, and forward head posture. * **The Cheesecake Cycle:** Why stress biologically forces you to crave junk food for quick "survival energy"—and how that creates a vicious cycle of more stress and fatigue.* **The "Ctrl+Alt+Del" Reset:** How a specific chiropractic adjustment to the upper neck (Atlas) helps reset the vagus nerve, signaling to your body that the danger has passed so you can finally relax and heal.---### About the HostDr. Brant Hulsebus is a proud graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic and serves as the team chiropractor for the Rockford IceHogs. Practicing at Hulsebus Rockford Chiropractic, he is dedicated to helping patients overcome physical, chemical, and emotional stress through neurologically-based chiropractic care.### Join the JourneyThis is Part 8 of our 12-week series. Click to Subscribe: https://bit.ly/Youtube-Subscribe-SoapDirt Days of Our Lives spoilers indicate that Stephanie Johnson (Abigail Klein) finds herself grappling with the aftermath of her husband, Alex Kiriakis' (Robert Scott Wilson), unexpected fatherhood. Joy Wesley (AlexAnn Hopkins) arrives in Salem with Alex's baby, Kelsey, throwing Stephanie's life into turmoil. While Stephanie seeks comfort from her mother, Kayla Brady (Mary Beth Evans), and Dr. Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall), Alex finds solace in his father, Justin Kiriakis (Wally Kurth). DOOL spoilers see tensions rise as Stephanie battles PTSD from a past kidnapping and Alex's overprotective nature. The couple, who were just beginning to rebuild their relationship, find themselves at odds over the sudden presence of baby Kelsey. The situation is further complicated by the return of Joy, who lied about the pregnancy and withheld the truth for over a year. Spoilers for Days of our Lives reveal that Stephanie's best friend, Jada Hunter (Elia Cantu), lends a sympathetic ear as Stephanie expresses her reluctance to become a stepmother and her frustration at her life being upended. Meanwhile, Alex, thrilled at the prospect of fatherhood, discusses his new role with his father, Justin. More DOOL spoilers suggest that as Stephanie wrestles with her feelings, Alex assures Joy that he wants her and Kelsey to stay in Salem. This revelation could potentially add fuel to the fire and lead to the end of Alex and Stephanie's marriage. Complicating matters further, Stephanie's desire to keep a firearm in their home for protection clashes with Alex's concern for Kelsey's safety. Days of our Lives spoilers leave the looming possibility of Stephanie walking away from her marriage and life as she knows it. With Joy hoping to rekindle her relationship with Alex and Stephanie potentially reaching a breaking point, the future of Alex and Stephanie's relationship hangs in the balance. Click here to send a message. We love to hear from our listeners! Send us a text message and share your feedback Lake Superior is not just cold, it's demanding. The weather can turn fast, the waves hit differently than the ocean, and a shipwreck that felt “familiar” a decade ago may have collapsed into something sharp, dark, and dangerous today. We sit down with Stephen B. Daniel, an accomplished diver, author, illustrator, photographer, and maritime expert who has logged 530+ dives and brought countless wrecks to the surface through detailed underwater sketches and diver-friendly maps. We get practical about Lake Superior scuba diving safety: how Stephen plans a wreck dive, why dry suit layering matters, what good buoyancy control protects, and how depth changes everything from bottom time to decompression risk. He shares stories from standout dives like the SS America and describes what makes a wreck beautiful and what makes it a trap when storms shift structure and visibility drops. Then we zoom out to shipwreck preservation and Great Lakes maritime history. Stephen explains the difference between documented and undocumented wrecks, why laws like the Abandoned Shipwreck Act exist, and why “take pictures, leave bubbles” is more than a slogan. We also explore underwater photogrammetry and 3D shipwreck models that let non-divers experience these sites, track how wrecks change over time, and protect the past without removing it from the lake. If you care about shipwreck diving, boating safety, or the hidden history off Lake Superior's North Shore, this conversation will stick with you. Send us Fan MailAnger can feel like rocket fuel, but on a golf course it usually detonates your round. We start with the clearest proof: a Masters moment where emotion goes sideways right along with the tee shot. Then we bring it down to everyday golf, watching a calm, talented senior player slowly unravel after one mistake until he's no longer playing golf, he's arguing with it. That shift from process to prosecution is where scores blow up, routines vanish, and confidence gets replaced by noise. From there, we zoom out to the broader golf experience. The Masters still sets the gold standard for how elite golf looks and sounds, with broadcast storytelling that enhances the tension instead of competing with it. We compare that to coverage that tries too hard, where inside jokes and awkward banter drown out shot value, course management, and the moment itself. If you care about modern golf media, streaming sports, and what makes commentary actually good, you'll recognize the difference instantly. We also tackle “funflation,” the brutal economics behind why live events now feel like luxury goods. Dynamic pricing, outsized fees, and shifting revenue models have pushed fans toward streaming while making in-person experiences harder to reach. And because intensity shows up everywhere, we end with a sharp look at scripture used as a debate weapon, the modern “Trump card” that turns conversations into moral trials. The throughline is simple: stop reaching for intensity and start reaching for control. If this hit home, subscribe, share it with your favorite playing partner, and leave a review. In this episode, I walk through one of the most challenging—and inevitable—aspects of child-centered play therapy: room wrecks. I explain why these moments, as overwhelming and inconvenient as they can feel, are often deeply meaningful and necessary parts of a child's process. When a child is dumping shelves, throwing toys, or creating chaos, there is always a reason beneath the behavior. Rather than reacting with frustration or trying to control it, I emphasize the importance of shifting our perspective—seeing these moments as progress, not problems, and remaining grounded in unconditional acceptance. I also address how to handle room wrecks practically and relationally—both with the child and with parents. This includes when (and when not) to set limits, how to prevent parents from misinterpreting what they see or hear, and how our words and tone communicate acceptance or judgment. Ultimately, these high-pressure moments reveal how anchored we truly are in the model. Room wrecks are not just about the child—they are a test of our ability to remain fully CCPT when it's hardest. Send us Fan MailYou're not scared of dying—you're scared of speaking in public. Trent drops a caffeine-fueled sermon on fear, fragility, and why most Americans are terrified of the wrong things. While Peaches and the crew stare down parachute malfunctions and gunfights, the average dude's biggest nightmare is… giving a PowerPoint. Wild. This episode isn't about being fearless—it's about using fear as fuel. Trent tears into soft excuses, the “I'm a nobody” mindset, and the biggest psyop in America: thinking your skeletons disqualify you from doing good. If you've ever said, “I'd rather die than public speak,” buckle up. This one's your wake-up call to stop hiding and start acting—because fear's either your leash or your launchpad.⏱️ Timestamps: 00:00 – The biggest psyop in America: “You're too flawed to lead.” 02:10 – Why fear of public speaking proves how soft we've become. 05:40 – How military training rewires fear into action. 10:15 – Facing death to learn what really matters. 14:30 – Turning anxiety into purpose. 19:00 – Fatherhood, competition, and the power of fear. 21:45 – From scared kid to special operator: Trent's real talk on growth. 24:10 – Why good people stay silent—and how that's killing us. 28:40 – Fear isn't the enemy. Comfort is.
1. Military Morale and Leadership U.S. military morale has significantly strengthened by a commander-in-chief who is willing to risk substantial resources to rescue a single American service member. Trump is contrasted against Clinton (Somalia), Obama (Libya), and Biden (Afghanistan), portraying those administrations as failing to protect troops. The U.S. military ethos: soldiers fight aggressively because they trust that medics, rescue forces, and leadership will risk everything to save them. 2. U.S. Military Culture and “Quiet Math of American Violence” Highlight inter-service respect (Marines, Navy corpsmen, Air Force PJs). American combat effectiveness comes not just from training or equipment, but from certainty that help will arrive under fire, reinforcing battlefield courage. 3. Trump’s Iran Policy and Deterrence Strategy Trump’s foreign policy is: “FAFO” (forceful consequences for aggression) Transactional with allies (support is conditional) Infrastructure strikes are: Intended to cripple military and economic capability Designed to pressure the population to overthrow the regime A deliberate choice not to destroy oil infrastructure to preserve post‑conflict recovery potential 4. War Crimes Accusations and Legal Defense Democrats and media figures are labeling infrastructure strikes as “war crimes.” This is countered by citing the Pentagon’s Law of War Manual, arguing that power generation and infrastructure supporting military operations can be lawful military objectives. 5. View of Iranian Leadership Iran’s rulers are theocratic extremists who: Do not care about civilian suffering Are willing to sacrifice large portions of their population Doubts are expressed about whether economic devastation would deter or influence regime behavior. 6. Immigration and Violent Crime Violent crimes committed by undocumented immigrants are widespread and underreported Democratic policies (sanctuary cities, TPS, opposition to ICE) directly enabled these crimes Several specific criminal cases argue that border enforcement failures have led to American deaths. Donald Trump has been raging at Marjorie Taylor Greene a lot lately. Why? Because improbably, Greene has emerged as a very effective critic of the president. In a striking CNN interview, Greene unloaded, declaring bluntly that Trump is mentally unfit for the presidency, that the people around Trump should rein him in, and that he's catastrophically failing. This is a watershed moment: Trump's disastrous Iran war, and his threat to obliterate Iranian civilization, are pushing some in MAGA to look past him. We talked to Salon's Amanda Marcotte, author of a good piece arguing that the Iran debacle is a new kind of problem for Trump. We discuss why JD Vance won't be able to escape its taint, why Trump's threat of genocide is a breaking point for so many Americans, and why Greene's criticism of Trump breaks surprising new ground. (After we recorded, Trump exploded in fury yet again at Greene and other critics.) Looking for More from the DSR Network? Turns out, "good vibes only" might be making you feel worse. Today, we're exploring why the "good vibes only, stay positive, look on the bright side," movement is often more harmful than helpful and how to build a deeper, more resilient form of optimism and hope that is truly capable of making your life better. Our guest, Dr. Deepika Chopra, is a clinical health psychologist known as The Optimism Doctor® and author of The Power of Real Optimism. With postdoctoral fellowships at UCLA and Cedars-Sinai, she specializes in the science of hope, resiliency, and visual imagery. We talk about:The 7/10 rule for affirmations - why the traditional approach to affirmations is broken, and a different way that ensures your brain actually believes what you're telling it instead of rejecting it as bunk. How to schedule "worry time" to contain anxiety so it doesn't leak into and paralyze your entire day.A specific 12-second practice to "clock" joy and physically rewire your brain's neural pathways for better problem-solving.The distinction between hope and false hope, and how to find the "crack of light" when you're in your darkest hour.If you've ever felt the pressure to "just be happy" while struggling through a difficult season, this conversation offers a grounded, science-backed alternative. Click play to learn how to build the muscle of real optimism and navigate life's challenges with more curiosity and ease. The Dirty Thirty returns, and it's jam-packed full of stories this week. We've got a brand new 30 minutes of the very best tales from our shows. Let's go for a ride! This week, we start off with one of Door Bumper Clear's most long-awaited guests, Randy LaJoie, and in this segment, he talks about following the Intimidator at Talladega, how he still hates Mark Martin's Winn Dixie car, and his MASSIVE wreck at Daytona. Then, we wanted to make sure we heard Denny right, but on Actions Detrimental, he says we could see up to 4 SECONDS of fall-off at Darlington! For the very first time, but not the last, Dirty Thirty features Sons & Daughters, Shannon Spake's new show where she talks to remarkable people with relatable pasts. This week was Coach K., just in time for college basketball's most important time of the year. Following that up is Brad Keselowski, who filled in for Dale Jr. while he was on vacation this week. The topic he wanted to talk about? Looking back, he sees how smart a move Justin Marks made in getting Shane van Gisbergen into the Cup Series. This leads Brad to tell a Jack Roush story of his own, which we know you'll love. We end this show with one of the best tales we've ever heard, from an all-time classic episode, Andy Petree's famous trick spoiler. If you haven't heard this one before, you are in for a real treat. This week is a big one! We hope you enjoy all these moments from our shows. We'll see you next week on The Dirty Thirty! Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. The Supreme Court is about to rule on Donald Trump's tariffs, which lower courts deem illegal. But guess what: Trump himself has badly undermined his own case for them. He's claimed broad tariff powers by absurdly declaring trade deficits an economic emergency. But he keeps admitting to other rationales for them. In a crazed tirade in Davos, he said he threatened Switzerland with tariffs partly because a female leader's voice annoyed him. He unleashed a long rant in a letter threatening Brazil with higher tariffs over its treatment of ally Jair Bolsonaro. And in another tirade, he threatened to impose tariffs on European countries opposing his quest to seize Greenland. We talked to MS NOW's Steve Benen, who identified this pattern in a good piece. We discuss all these threats, the GOP's complicity with the Mad King's whims, and what it'll mean for our country if the high court greenlights such obviously absurd abuses of power.
