Throughout his 40-year acting career, Blair Underwood (L.A. Law, Longlegs) has always made it a priority to lead with his humanity. In the ‘80s and ‘90s, he came up against the stereotypical roles Black actors faced at that time, and his breakout role on “L.A. Law” stirred up some strong reactions in South Africa, where he was both loved and hated. Now, Blair stars in the Canadian re-make of the 1986 cult classic “Youngblood,” in which he plays a hockey dad who pushes his son to act tough on and off the ice. Blair sits down with Tom Power to talk about the new film and why he's drawn to unexpected stories. Plus, he tells us about the time he met Prince.

Karrah Youngblood - Exposing A Predator: WildfireTW: Violence and sexual assaultKarrah Youngblood is a professional artist, single mom, and unexpected memoirist from Oklahoma. She never planned to be an activist, but standing up to the man who hurt her — and so many others — turned into a fight she couldn't walk away from.Karrah is now telling her story: The story of what happens when one woman refuses to stay silent, despite every reason to. Wildfire, A Memoir, is about how Karrah Youngblood stood up to one of the most documented predators in modern history – and to the systemic injustice that protected him at every turn. In Karrah's own words: “My art has been featured by NPR, TMZ, and Comic-Con, but Wildfire is the creation I'm most proud of. Telling my story seemed like the obvious thing to do since a serial predator tried so hard to stop it. Writing and Publishing Wildfire feels like the closest form of Justice I will ever receive. I wrote it to reclaim my voice — and to help others find theirs.” FIND KARRAH:spreadthewildfire.compumpkinbrains.com (Karrah's art)facebook.com/karrah Tiktok.com/@pumpkinbrains FIND JANICE SELBIE:Janice Selbie's Best-selling book, Divorcing Religion: A Memoir and Survival Handbook, is now available in the USA https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DP78TZZF and CANADA https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0DP78TZZFRecordings are now available for the Shameless Sexuality: Life After Purity Culture conference 2025! A new #study published as the #cover of Aging (Aging-US) Volume 17, Issue 7, explores how factors in young human blood may affect the biological age of human skin. Researchers from Beiersdorf AG, Research and Development Hamburg in Germany, used a microphysiological co-culture system—a lab-based model simulating human circulation—to test the effects of young versus old blood serum on skin cells. The findings suggest that bone marrow-derived cells play a key role in converting blood-borne signals into effects that support skin rejuvenation. Understanding Skin Aging and Systemic Influence As we age, the skin's ability to regenerate declines, while its biological age increases. This contributes to visible signs of aging and a weakened barrier function. While cosmetic treatments can improve appearance, they rarely target the cellular processes underlying skin aging. Animal studies have shown that exposure to young blood can promote tissue repair and rejuvenation, likely due to molecules circulating in the bloodstream. However, reproducing these effects in human skin has proven difficult. Applying young serum directly to skin tissue has not produced significant results, indicating that additional cellular interactions may be required. MANUSCRIPT: FIRST SEGMENT Warren: Hello everybody. I'm Warren Smith, coming to you from Charlotte, North Carolina. Christina: And I'm Christina Darnell, in for Natasha Cowden this week, and we'd like to welcome you to the MinistryWatch podcast. Warren: On today's program, a third prosecutor has been appointed in the trial of Anglican Church in North America Bishop Stewart Ruch after the first two resigned. Plus, Brent Leatherwood resigns from the Southern Baptist Convention's Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission, just one year after being fired…then unfired. Leatherwood led the agency for four contentious years. We'll have details. Christina: But first, the defense attorney in a lawsuit involving T.D. Jakes has been sanctioned by the court for using artificial intelligence in the preparation of court documents. Warren: The attorney is Tyrone Blackburn, and he was defending Duane Youngblood in a defamation lawsuit filed by TD Jakes. Blackburn has been sanctioned by a federal court because he presented documents that contained material fabricated by artificial intelligence. U.S. District Court Judge William Stickman ordered Blackburn to pay over $76-thousand in fees to cover expenses Jakes had to pay to defend himself against the “AI-generated hallucinations and other misrepresentations in Defendant's motion to dismiss briefing.” Christina: Last year, Duane Youngblood accused Jakes of attempted sexual assault. Jakes has maintained his innocence and filed a defamation lawsuit against Youngblood in November 2024. Jakes noted that Youngblood is on parole after felony convictions for sexual assault and corruption of minors. Warren: According to a statement provided to Dallas Morning News, Blackburn said he purchased an A-I program because he doesn't employ paralegals and most of his current clients are pro bono. The A-I program generated its own legal prompts and motions, and contained false quotes and case law. Before he could fix the A-I generated errors, Youngblood asked him to leave the case. Christina: But the judge essentially told him that wasn't an excuse—that he was fully responsible for the accuracy of his legal briefs, regardless of who—or what—contributed to it. It was Blackburn's signature on the document. Warren: Right.

We're celebrating our 10th anniversary all year by digging in the vaults to re-present classic episodes with fresh commentary. Today, we're revisiting our 2016 conversation with Mike Stoller. ABOUT MIKE STOLLERMike Stoller has written more than 60 songs that have appeared on the Billboard charts, including the #1 hits “Hound Dog,” “Kansas City,” “Yakety Yak,” “Searchin',” “Jailhouse Rock,” “Poison Ivy,” “Stand By Me,” “Young Blood,” “Don't,” and “Ruby, Baby." After Stoller and songwriting partner Jerry Leiber found early R&B success with recordings by Little Esther, Charles Brown, Ray Charles, and Big Mama Thornton, Elvis Presley turned their song "Hound Dog" into a #1 single on the pop, R&B, and country charts in 1956. Elvis went on to record more than 20 Leiber and Stoller titles, including the hits "Love Me," "Loving You," "Jailhouse Rock," "Treat Me Nice," "She's Not You," and "Bossa Nova Baby." Mike and Jerry signed an independent production deal with Atlantic Records in the mid-1950s, where they wrote and produced a series of hits for several artists, including the Drifters' "There Goes My Baby," "Dance With Me," and "On Broadway." Additionally, the pair wrote and produced all the Coasters' singles, including "Young Blood," "Searchin'," "Charlie Brown," "Along Came Jones," and "Poison Ivy." Other highlights from the Leiber and Stoller songbook include "Love Potion No. 9," which was a hit for both the Clovers and the Searchers, and "Is That All There Is," which was a hit for Peggy Lee. Eleven different versions of their song “Stand By Me” appeared on the Billboard charts over the span of 50 years, with the original version by Ben E. King hitting the Top 10 in both 1961 and 1986. Smokey Joe's Cafe, which included 40 Leiber and Stoller songs, opened in 1995 and became the longest running musical revue in Broadway history. Stoller received the prestigious ASCAP Founders Award in 1991, has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and is a member of both the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Today's guest is GS Youngblood — author of The Masculine in Relationship and The Art of Embodiment for Men. His work centers around helping men live, love, and lead from their masculine core. If you've ever felt stuck in Nice Guy tendencies, struggled to lead in your relationship, or wanted to deepen your emotional strength without losing your edge — this one's for you." GS challenges the idea that all masculinity is toxic by offering an actionable model — the Masculine Blueprint — that helps men become grounded in their own power while becoming more relational with their feminine partners. His work bridges grounded leadership, emotional connection, and embodiment, rooted in disciplines ranging from psychology and martial arts to spirituality and BDSM. His two books have sold nearly 90,000 copies, and he's become a highly sought-after coach for men seeking depth, direction, and relational mastery. At its core, The Masculine in Relationship is about how masculine power can successfully coexist with the strong feminine — especially in modern relationships where polarity often collapses under stress, kids, Nice Guy habits, or passivity. GS provides a grounded, accessible framework for what he calls Relational Masculinity — a combination of emotional depth, structural leadership, and grounded nervous system regulation that pulls a woman back into play, softness, and sexual openness without control, manipulation, or passivity. Hello Seattle Mariners fans! Blood is on the dance floor, blood is on the night but Evan James, Anders Jorstad and Zach Mason are here on Saturday May 31st to celebrate Cal Raleigh/Cole Young and lament the actual results of Mariner baseball over the last week. Rough series against the Astros and Nationals seemed to culminate in a 9th inning punch to the gut loss on May 30th where Munoz would surrender his first runs and blown save of the season. But all is not lost? A piece of the solution finds himself called to the show, rolling up I5 to make his Mariners debut this weekend. Will Locklear and Ford be not far behind? Can the bullpen shake out of this funk? How is the trade market taking shape on the horizon? Welcome back ragers to the best movie review podcast on the planet. The rage rolls on from the Film Rage Studio. This week the Film Rage Crew only had to see two films. IT was a light week for the boys. First they went to Final Destination: Bloodlines and some of the boys had to admit that it was much better than they thought it would be. Does that mean it was Mondo? Next up, The Weeknd tries his hand at carrying a film on his inadequate shoulders. Should he stick to being a pop star? I am not really sure as I could not name one song he has done even after a lot of his catalogue was included in this film. Then finally Jim was forced to watch Youngblood in the Rage or Dare segment. A hockey movie starring Rob Lowe..... Can he even skate??? On another jam-packed episode, host Michael Rand starts with the Wolves and the accomplishment of returning to the final four of their league -- something no other Minnesota major men's pro sports team has done in roughly a half-century. Plus the Frost advanced, too, and the Twins won their 10th in a row. What a night in Minnesota sports. 13:00: Kent Youngblood joins Rand to preview the Lynx season, which begins Friday in Dallas. They, too, will be trying to get back to where they were a year ago. 27:00: The Loons lost and the Vikings have a bunch of interesting games this season.
