Why does looking "effortless" cost so much?In this episode, I'm breaking down the myth of low-maintenance beauty and why "natural" is often anything but. From aristocrats who had other people do the work for them to today's hyper-curated "clean girl" aesthetic, what looks effortless is usually carefully constructed behind the scenes. I'll get into how this illusion became a class signal, who it actually benefits, and who gets left out.Because in beauty culture, effort doesn't disappear...it just gets edited out.Are. You. Dan Houser described American Caper as being fueled by his fascination with “hypocrites, sociopaths, political idiots, dysfunctional families, and violence.” When you first saw the concept for this story, what immediately stood out to you as something that felt especially relevant to the moment we're living in? 2. The series pulls together a wild mix of characters. A Mormon hitman, a gambling-addicted lawyer, escaped convicts in love, a billionaire playing cowboy. How did you approach balancing such a large ensemble so the story feels chaotic in a good way rather than overwhelming? 3. Verona, Wyoming feels like a pressure cooker where crime, politics, and personal drama all collide. What was important to you in making this small town feel believable while still allowing it to host such extreme characters and situations? 4. The book leans hard into satire, sometimes feeling like it's taking shots at every side of the political spectrum. Was there ever a concern about walking that line between satire that provokes thought and satire that might alienate readers? 5. The story's interconnected crimes and morally gray characters gave me flashes of crime epics like 100 Bullets, where one event ripples across many lives. When building a narrative this tangled, how do you keep track of the cause and effect between characters? 6. Lazlow, your background includes storytelling in massive open-world games like Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption. Did working on a comic require a different approach to pacing and structure compared to interactive storytelling? 7. (Fun question) If each of you had to survive in Verona, Wyoming for a week, which of these characters would you trust the most to have your back, and which one would you avoid at all costs?

John welcomes Morning Joe co-host and Atlantic staff writer Jonathan Lemire to discuss the resounding triumphs this week of two very different Blue Teams: the Democratic Party and the LA Dodgers. Lemire assesses the key factors driving the Democratic drubbing of Donald Trump's Republican Party in Tuesday's off-year elections; what comes next for the day's big winners, from Zohran Mamdani in New York City to Gavin Newsom in California; and the reaction to the rout by Trump and the GOP. Then, once John finishes pimping the Dodgers second straight World Series win, Lemire lays out the argument in his recent Atlantic piece, “Don't Blow This, Baseball,” as to why the grand old game is suddenly resurgent—and how a looming labor-management tussle could well lead to a calamitous work stoppage in 2027. Why do you think themes of thankfulness and simplicity resonate so deeply with children — and adults?Crafting in RhymeThis story uses a joyful rhyming style. What draws you to rhyme as a storytelling device, and what challenges or delights come with writing in verse?Holiday SpiritYou've said you've always loved the holiday season. What specific memories or traditions helped shape the spirit of The Gift of Everything?Mooch & Earl's Timeless AppealMooch and Earl have been beloved characters in MUTTS for decades. What do you think it is about their personalities that allows them to connect so effortlessly with readers across generations? From Page to StageSeveral of your works, including The Gift of Nothing and Me…Jane, have been adapted as musicals at the Kennedy Center. How does it feel to see your stories reimagined in another medium?Visual StorytellingYour illustrations have a deceptively simple elegance. How do you balance keeping the art playful for children while also layering in emotion and meaning for older readers?Longevity and LegacyMUTTS has been running for 30 years and has inspired praise from legends like Charles Schulz and Jane Goodall. Looking back, how do you see your evolution as both a cartoonist and a children's book author?Fun/Silly Question: If Mooch and Earl were invited to a holiday gift exchange in real life, what do you think each of them would bring — and what would they secretly hope to get?
Finalmente recomendamos Nemesis the warlock, Void rivals, Bajo los árboles, donde nadie te ve, Okinawa y 20th century men. How did you adapt Ollie's voice and moral compass to fit that setting while keeping iconic elements intact?**Between writing for Green Arrow, scripting Ultimate Wolverine, and launching News From The Fallout, you're balancing very different tones and genres. How do you switch creative gears between mainstream superhero work and experimental creator-owned stories?Ultimate Wolverine launched early this year—what fresh angles or emotional truths are you exploring compared to past Wolverine iterations?Your work this year traverses themes of isolation (Fallout), social justice (Green Arrow), and visceral heroism (Wolverine). So: if you had to survive a weekend in the desert with Wolverine, Green Arrow, and Otis—who's cooking, who's in charge of the firewood, and who's most likely to accidentally summon a threat to the camp?

For a long time, post-sale teams haven't received the attention they deserve. Companies have historically prioritized revenue growth over revenue protection, relying on human-intensive Customer Success models to keep customers happy. But the landscape is shifting—companies are rethinking how they structure their Customer Success teams, when and how to introduce Account Managers, and whether automation and scaled CS models can truly replace the human touch. In this episode, we sit down with Mike Lemire, a seasoned Customer Success executive with experience at Toast, HubSpot, and Overjet, who now runs his own executive coaching firm, Harmonic Leadership. In our conversation, Mike shares his insights on how to build the right post-sale team for your business, what CS leaders can learn from marketing, and why customer success is all about aligning trigger points with action items.Like this episode?
