This episode is brought to you by: GRUBBED https://grubbed.com There is an authenticity and truthfulness to the music of Drew Gregory that is undeniable. The songs of this award-winning Alberta country music sensation are infused with a down-home realism, a gritty honesty, and vibrant sense of rootedness that comes from years spent working the land as a farmer – an aspect of his life that is deeply connected to his talent as a musician, singer, and songwriter. Gregory, the singer, is also Gregory the farmer – two sides of the same engaging, unpretentious, amiable coin, solidly rooted in the landscape and soil of his rural homestead. The music is as approachable as he is, which also translates on stage as he forms an instant rapport with any audience he performs to. Growing up in the small rural community of Standard, Alberta (population around 350), Gregory was exposed to music through local radio and from his dad's extensive classic rock vinyl collection. He soon came to appreciate the country and rock sounds that flowed through the family home. By the time he was 15, he had acquired his first guitar, and from the first strum of the strings, he knew that making music would be a big part of his life. Evidence of Gregory's status as a country music artist on the rise is the numerous accolades that he has thus far garnered in his career. Drew recently brought home the "Horizon Male Artist of the Year" Award from Country Music Alberta in March of 2022. This is Drew's third win in this category, having won the honour in 2015 and 2019 as well. He also received Country Music Alberta's Horizon Song of the Year in 2019 for Better in A Bar, a song he penned with long-time co-writer Aaron Goodvin, and Country Music Alberta's Horizon Album of the Year for his album I Was There in 2016. Drew was recently named one of the Top 3 artists in the Project Wild Development Program in Alberta after a six-month-long journey of education and development. At the finale, held at The King Eddy in Calgary, he was awarded $50,000. Over his burgeoning career, he has shared the stage and opened concert and festival dates for Miranda Lambert, Kip Moore, Old Dominion, John Michael Montgomery, Big & Rich, Emerson Drive, and Chad Brownlee, among others. Drew feeds off and reciprocates the energy of a crowd better than any and has plenty of experience on stage for large and smaller audiences. Past festivals include The Big Valley Jamboree (both Main Stage and Molson Stage), Bud Country Fever, Country Thunder in Calgary and Arizona, and Dauphin Country Fest. Drew made his debut appearance on the Nashville North stage during the 2015 Calgary Stampede and has been a staple every year since. His performances at clubs, rodeos, and festivals tend to draw large crowds after years of being a reliable high-energy show. Even though he's a small-town farm kid at heart, he is more at home on stage than anywhere else. Learn more about Drew Gregory at: http://www.drewgregorymusic.com/

Recently stepping off the stage as a host for the season finale of Canada's Got Talent, award-winning artist Lindsay Ell joins All Heart with Paul Cardall to discuss her journey leading up to CMA nominations, a Gold record, head-lining her first concert tour, and the recent release of a her hit single, “Right On Time.” Lindsay, whose toured with Keith Urban, Brad Paisely, and Sugarland is putting a voice to the pressure she feels as a career-focused woman in her 30s, “Right On Time” is an anthem for anyone who has felt pressured to be something or someone they aren't, while working on timelines determined by societal norms. ABOUT LINDSAY“I've learned to care a little less about what everybody thinks,” says singer/songwriter/guitarist Lindsay Ell. “Following my gut instinct, truly saying what I want to say—that's the magic, the elements that make you relatable and real. Before, I was worrying about writing for radio, for fans, but now this is what I know, this is my journey. And the more honest I get, the more effective it is.”With her new album, heart theory, Ell does just that, weaving the story of her journey of the heart in her own voice using her arsenal of tools as a musician and artist to give each song the sonic backdrop it deserves. “Theory is the science of music, heart theory is the science of a heart,” says Ell.The tracks take the listener along the path of the seven stages of grief: shock, denial, anger, bargaining, depression, testing and acceptance. “If my last record was called The Project, this one could be called the process.” From the shock-to-the-heart felt in the groovy opening track “Hits me” to the sing-along-at-the-top-of-your-lungs acceptance of the closing track “ReadY to love,” Ell invites you to experience her journey.Produced by the legendary Dann Huff, heart theory maintains a sonic depth and auditory aura while still conveying the emotional rawness and storytelling that highlights Ell's growth since her debut album on Stoney Creek Records, The Project, which debuted at No. 1 on the Country Album Sales Chart and was named Billboard's “Best Country Album of 2017.” That album spawned her first Top 20 hit in the US, as well as her first No.1 on the Canadian Country radio charts – making her the first female artist to top that chart in 10 years. Most recently, she scored her first No. 1 with “What Happens in a Small Town,” her duet with Brantley Gilbert – another milestone moment making her the first Canadian artist to hit No. 1 in the US since Emerson Drive's “Moments” in 2007, and the first Canadian woman to reach the top of the charts since Terri Clark with “I Just Wanna Be Mad” in 2003.Over the past 3 years, Ell has shared the stage with some of the biggest acts in the world touring with Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, and Sugarland. She has more than held her own in moments alongside such artists as Mellissa Etheridge, Billy Ray Cyrus, Robert Randolph, Billy Gibbons and other legends. She has made multiple appearances on the CMA Awards stage including playing with Carrie Underwood and performing with distinguished country group, Little Big Town, alongside other powerhouse female artists in one the biggest moments of the 2019 CMA Awards where she was also nominated for Musical Event of the Year. Ell's nominations do not stop there, she is a 2x 2020 ACM nominee for New Female Artist of the Year and Music Event of the Year.Concurrently though, Ell was grappling with the real-life complexities that come with growing up, even as a rising star. “The past couple of years, I've been through a lot,” she says. “A public break-up took me through all of the stages of heartbreak, I turned 30, I had a health scare and countless other hurdles. And I came out the other side as a full human. There are moments when life just smacks you in the face and you need to do the work of figuring out what that means, how it changed you, and how to take full control of your life.”Ell points to several of the new songs as examples of her evolution and sense of maturity. “There's a song called ‘make you' that's about a trauma that happened to me as a little girl, something I have never publicly talked about,” she says. “Holding pieces of our story back means missing out on the opportunity to feel inspired, changed, drawn to make a difference. I got into this business to change people, to make them feel something. So, it was important to me to get really honest and say that all of us have skeletons in the closet, but those things make us who we are.”With a chorus and guitar lines that soar “wAnt me back” is glowing with self-appreciation and tints of anger. “I love watching people step into their own power,” says Ell. “It is one of the most inspiring moments to watch someone finally see their full potential.” With this sentiment, Ell co-wrote this mid-tempo track with hit-maker Kane Brown along with Matt McGinn and Lindsay Rimes. Preaching confidence and that there is no other you, Ell hopes to inspire others to free themselves of the shackles that no longer serve them well.Lauded by Forbes magazine as “one of the most exciting and talented young artists in Country music,” the Calgary native learned to play guitar while traveling with her father to Country-Bluegrass camps as a young girl. Ell was championed by Randy Bachman (of Bachman Turner Overdrive and The Guess Who), who discovered her at the age of 13, and was soon touring alongside the likes of Luke Bryan and Buddy Guy.While Ell has earned special recognition for her blistering guitar playing, she notes that she doesn't want to be defined by any one dimension of her work. She says, “I don't want to be known as just a guitar player. My favorite artists, like John Mayer and Keith Urban, are great players, but that's not the only thing you think of. I write, sing, produce and think all the pieces of the puzzle come together to make an artist's story unique, to paint the full picture. Yes, this is a huge guitar record, but that's not what I want be the first thing that rings the bell when you listen.”A major part of Ell's success has come from her dedicated exposure to an international audience. She has performed on her own tour, at the C2C Festival, opening tours for stars in their home territories, and as part of the CMA's “Introducing Nashville” series in Europe and Asia (at one point playing in eight different countries in 32 days).“I've loved doing so much international travel.” she says. “I always wanted to build my career beyond the borders of North America, so it's incredible to go to New Zealand, Japan, Germany, places where they're trying to figure out what I'm saying, but they're so into it. They listen to the catalog, learn the songs, come to the show ready for the experience—they're the perfect audience, they care so much.”As Lindsay Ell gears up for a new album and continues to tour around the globe, she embraces this next chapter of her career. “Artists are always scared of the infamous sophomore album,” she says, “but I'm so excited. I've done the work, I've found the right team, and I'm coming at it from a place of more strength and more honesty. I'm ready to do this, so bring it on.”Keep up will all Lindsay Ell on her socials:Instagram Facebook | Twitter | TikTok | YouTube

Alli Walker is back with the release of her new single "Country Music". Giving listeners insight into some of the biggest country tracks and artists that have shaped her life, the nostalgic and upbeat track is available on all streaming platforms. Written by Alli, Dustin Bird and Brian John Harwood and produced by Danick Dupelle (Tebey, Tyler Joe Miller, Emerson Drive), the track got its debut on TikTok earlier this year. Quickly racking up over a million views, the demo allowed fans to bond over the role country music has played in their lives. “I wanted the production, storytelling and emotion of this song to feel as nostalgic as it does when listening to some of the songs we mention in the track,” says Alli of how “Country Music” came together. “I can still remember belting out Alison Krauss's part in 'Whiskey Lullaby' when I was a teenager, repeating 'Remember When' by Alan Jackson over and over on my little blue MP3 player and performing 'Strawberry Wine' to a slow dancing crowd with my cover band. When I sing this song it brings back so many memories of discovering my favourite country tracks throughout my life.” The release of “Country Music” showcases Alli's first new music since dropping her debut album The Basement Sessions in Fall 2019. It also marks a new direction for the PEI native as she finds her sound and carves her own path in the industry. “Prior to my debut album, I spent over 10 years getting my feet wet - I knew I needed my 10K hours and my 'dues paid' before I released anything of my own,” explains Alli. “Writing, recording, and releasing my debut album on my own in 2019 was the perfect experience on what it takes to be an independent artist and still cut through the noise".

SUMMARY:Our guest on this episode of Songcraft is Richard Marx, who is best known for writing and recording hits such as “Don't Mean Nothing,” “Hold on to the Nights” and “Right Here Waiting.” But that's only part of the story. As a songwriter, Marx has written #1 hits for other artists, ranging from Kenny Rogers to Josh Groban to NSYNC to Keith Urban. He's sold more than 30 million albums as an artist, earned the Grammy Song of the Year as a writer, and, with the publication of his new memoir on July 6th, is now an author with many amazing stories to tell. PART ONE:Scott and Paul talk about the new Songcraft T-shirts, and wonder if Richard Marx is perhaps in an elite club whose only other members are the Bee Gees. PART TWO: Our in-depth conversation with Richard MarxABOUT RICHARD MARXGrammy-winning performer Richard Marx has sold more than 30 million albums as an artist, but if you only know him from late 1980s ballads such as “Hold on to the Nights” and “Right Here Waiting,” you only know part of the story. A prolific songwriter, Marx has landed fourteen songs at the top of various Billboard charts, and has written a #1 single in each of the last four decades. His genre-crossing songwriting success includes “What About Me” and “Crazy,” which Kenny Rogers carried to the top of the Adult Contemporary and Country charts, respectively; “Edge of a Broken Heart,” a hit for the female metal band Vixen; “This I Promise You,” a Top 5 pop single for NSYNC that stayed at #1 on the Adult Contemporary Chart for 13 weeks; Josh Groban's debut single “To Where You Are,” which also reached #1; and “Dance With My Father,” which Richard wrote with the song's performer, Luther Vandross, and which earned the pair the prestigious Grammy Song of the Year award in 2004. Additionally, Richard has scored three major hits with Keith Urban: the Top 5 “Everybody,” and the #1 singles “Better Life” and “Long Hot Summer.” Despite all his songwriting success, however, Marx is best known as a singer and performer who today jokes about his 80s hairstyle and of-the-era drum sounds. But the songs are undeniable, all of which Marx wrote and produced himself. His debut self-titled album yielded four Top 5 singles: “Don't Mean Nothing,” “Should've Known Better,” “Endless Summer Nights,” and “Hold on to the Nights.” His follow-up, 1989's Repeat Offender, was even more successful, going quadruple-platinum and earning two number one Billboard pop singles, “Satisfied” and “Right Here Waiting,” in addition to the Top 5 “Angelina.” More hits followed, including “Keep Coming Back,” “Hazard,” “Take This Heart,” “Now and Forever,” and “Until I Find You Again.” In addition, Richard's songs have been integral to a number of successful film soundtracks. He earned a Grammy nomination for his contributions to St. Elmo's Fire; scored a Top 10 pop hit with “Surrender to Me,” which Ann Wilson of Heart and Robin Zander of Cheap Trick recorded for the movie Tequila Sunrise, and wrote “At the Beginning,” a hit duet for the film Anastasia that Richard performed with Donna Lewis. Over the course of his career, Richard's songs have been recorded by Barbra Streisand, The Tubes, Sarah Brightman, Monica, Natalie Cole, Michael Bolton, Paulina Rubio, Emerson Drive, Chicago, Billy Ray Cyrus, Vince Gill, Kenny Loggins, LeAnn Rimes, Celine Dion, Julio Iglesias, Berry Manilow, Daughtry, Vertical Horizon, Lifehouse, Dave Koz, Jennifer Nettles, Ringo Starr, and many others. His memoir, Stories to Tell, is available July 6 from Simon & Shuster.
Danick Dupelle has been a member country group Emerson Drive for over 20 years, contributing his lead guitar, harmony vocals, songwriting and now production. Over the last decade, Dupelle has spent countless hours in the studio honing his music production craft. In 2017, Vibe Recordings officially opened in Nashville. Located in the heart of Berry Hill, the area is home to many famed recording studios in the creative epicenter of music production in Tennessee. When he isn't criss-crossing North America touring with Emerson Drive, Dupelle is creating at Vibe Recordings and working with artists and songwriters to push the boundaries with creativity and innovation in music. Over the past two years, Dupelle has produced two #1 songs in Canada for Tyler Joe Miller (“Pillow Talkin'”, “I Would Be Over Me Too”) and several Top 10 singles including Matt Lang's “Getcha”, Tebey's “Good Jeans” & Emerson Drive's “The Road”.
Artist manager Steve Kenny & country-pop star Tebey share their respective music industry journeys and insights First up, Mike chats with Steve Kenny (3:55), an artist manager, co-founder of Traverse Music Management, and author of The Ascender (Traversemusicmanagement.ca/theascender), a blog and newsletter for artists looking to grow their career in an effective and sustainable way. Steve recounts his winding path from musician to a corporate job and then into artist management. He offers a refreshing perspective and mind for the music industry and in this conversation, he discusses his belief that artists should actually focus more on the fans they have than on growing their fanbase, and that they should also focus on providing value for their audience rather than on “how can I monetize my audience?” Then, after his chat with Steve, Mike then shares the wonderful conversation he had with Canadian producer, platinum-selling singer-songwriter, and four-time CCMA nominee Tebey (34:40). Tebey first came to prominence as a songwriter for both pop and country artists. His pop credits include One Direction, Fifth Harmony, Flo Rida, Cher, and more. No slouch in the country music arena, Tebey has been nominated for four Canadian Country Music Awards, including Album of the Year for his 2018 hit EP, Love a Girl, and his hit single “Denim On Denim” was recently was certified platinum and he nabbed a gold certification for his co-write for “Just Got Paid” by Emerson Drive. He and Mike chat about writing his new album, ‘The Good Ones,’ the differences between writing country and pop songs, coming of age in the music industry, the fun and hassles of co-founding his own record label, dealing with the uncertainty of the near future, and more.

Heating things up just in time for the summer season, Saskatchewan powerhouse Samara Yung returns with the release of her latest single “In Case You Missed Me”, available for streaming & download everywhere. ICYMM is an anthemic earworm that only scratches the surface of what’s to come from this rising artist.Written by Emma-Lee (Madeline Merlo, Brett Kissel, Tim Hicks, etc.), Samara joined forces with acclaimed producer Danick Dupelle (Tebey, Emerson Drive) to create a sound that is uniquely her own on ICYMM. Starting off with soft sentiments, Samara's crystalline vocals soar through the track with a building beat that drives the track with an addictive pop sensibility.“Emma-Lee passed ICYMM along to my manager and as soon as the song started, I was in love,” Samara notes on receiving the track. “There is so much emotion right from the start and I felt so much love still in her heart for someone who is not there anymore. She’s just not ready to give up on that person. It’s something so many people can relate to. Danick Dupelle nailed the production and really helped musically to take us on that emotional journey of the song. I am so excited for you to hear this one!”With four albums under her belt, Samara caught her break in 2019 when awarded the coveted iHeart Radio Future Star spotlight for May & June with her hit "Swerve", marking her first top 30 at Canadian country radio. She went on to have a banner year, winning the SCMA Fan's Choice Entertainer of the Year, and performing a handful of festival stages such as Dauphin's Countryfest, Extreme Mudfest and the Raymore Summer Slam. ICYMM is now going for adds!VISIT SAMARA ON SOCIAL MEDIA:Website: http://www.samarayung.caFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/samarayung/Instagram: @Samara_Yung

In this episode I sat down with Texas native Terry McBride; who was making a run through Texas and was a judge at our TMP Songwriter Competition. Terry scored a #1 (Sacred Ground) as well as a string of Top 5 hits, with his group McBride and the Ride in the 90’s, but that’s only where his songwriting accolades begin… After McBride and the Ride disbanded, Terry began to focus most of his attention on songwriting, and through the years since has had songs cut by other artists such as Garth Brooks, George Strait, Reba McEntire, Hank Williams Jr., Ronnie Dunn, Kix Brooks, Alan Jackson, Trace Adkins, Easton Corbin, Lost Frequencies, Kenny Rogers, John Anderson, Cole Swindell, Jim Lauderdale, Chase Bryant, Clare Dunn, Ricky Van Shelton, George Ducas, David Ball, Casey James, Wade Hayes, Gretchen Wilson, Andy Griggs, Jedd Hughes, Jason Michael Carroll, James Otto, Gord Bamford, Emerson Drive, Rosie Flores, as well as Texas stars Cody Johnson, Jack Ingram, and Josh Ward. In 2004, Terry co-wrote American Idol finalist Josh Gracin’s top five single “Stay With Me/Brass Bed”. He followed that up by co-writing “Play Something Country” with Ronnie Dunn, which was the fastest rising single of Brooks and Dunn’s career and was also the final #1 song for the award-winning duo. Terry has had over 25 songs recorded by Brooks & Dunn, which led to 13 singles and 12 BMI million air awards. So we talk about his musical journey, get the scoop on his latest project and what’s next and pick his brain about songwriting and any advice he has for aspiring songwriters.

Tebey, Jason Blaine & James Otto begin their exciting & electrifying Three's A Party Tour on October 30th in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The tour will continue across Canada until the end of November. For information on tickets, please visit www.tebeymusic.com or www.jasonblaine.ca. Tebey just released a new song & music video called Jealous Of The Sun. He's written songs for Emerson Drive, Aaron Pritchett, Doc Walker, and Jason Blaine. As grateful as he is for his songwriting success, Tebey never abandoned his original dream of stepping out and taking centre stage himself. “In order to be a successful songwriter you really have to focus on it, so I literally put my recording career on the back burner.” It was a necessary compromise, he says: “It just so happened that circumstances took me away from being an artist and made me focus on my songwriting in order to make a living.” Now, Country fans know Tebey as a talented and engaging hit maker with songs like Somewhere In The Country, Now I Do and When The Buzz Wears Off. Jason Blaine has just released a new album called Country Side featuring the title track single and the latest song Spotlight. He wrote or co-wrote all 13 tracks. The last two songs on the project are for his two daughters and son. “At the end of the day, when the stage lights come down and I get off the plane or the tour bus and I come home, I’m just a husband and a father,” expains Jason who lives in Nashville with his wife and three children. He won the 2012 CCMA Single of the Year for his song They Don't Make 'Em Like That Anymore - which he co-wrote with Deric Ruttan.
After taking home the Rising Star Award at the 2014 Country Music Association of Ontario Awards, Jordan McIntosh continues to climb the ranks as one of Canada’s hottest new country stars. No stranger to the stage, the 19-year-old Ottawa native has toured with country stars Brett Kissel and, most recently, Emerson Drive. Additionally, he performed on the main stage at the third annual Boots and Hearts Festival in August. A top 6 finalist in the 2014 CCMA Discovery program, Jordan has been nominated for this year’s Rising Star Award at the Canadian Country Music Association Awards which will be held in Halifax (Sunday, September 13). Jordan’s first influence was his older sister, Melissa. “My entire family is musical, but I idolized my sister. She started to sing before I did and, being younger, I wanted to do everything she did. That’s how I found out I could sing. I never really studied music. I just sang all the time. I know there’s a one in a million chance that you can make a career of your ability to sing. That’s always kept me focused, but I couldn’t do any of this without my family.”
Sky Wyatt has already stoked a buzz in his native Vancouver, BC area with appearances at the Plaza of the Nations main stage at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, showcasing at the Vancouver Island Music Business Conference, and making it into the final round of the Red Robinson Talent Showdown at the Pacific National Exhibition and the British Columbia Youth Talent Search. He has also written songs with such talents as country singers Patricia Conroy (whose material has been cut by The Rankin Family, Emerson Drive and more), Jesse Tucker (who plays guitar in the Brett Eldredge band) and Willie Mack (whose cuts include Sara Evans and George Canyon). He hails from Deep Cove in North Vancouver, and grew up in a musical family with a father who taught guitar and mother from a large singing family. A range of styles played around his childhood home from rock to soul, jazz and funk plus such country-folk acts as The Eagles, America and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. During his high school years, Sky appeared and sang in musical theater productions. While in college he started taking vocal lessons just for fun - and singing quickly became a primary passion. A vocal coach urged him to explore all genres of music, and on hearing Tim McGraw’s “Red Rag Top”, Sky became hooked on Country music. Sky's first radio single "Wild Side" was released to Country radio in August 2015.
Cadence Grace, Ann Chaplin and Stacey Zegers have had major successes in their own right as solo female artists, but never imagined that together their collective talents would catapult them to an entirely new level as Runaway Angel. Individually, they have toured Canada, the United States, Europe and Britain, opening for major acts like Dean Brody, Aaron Pritchett, One More Girl, Jessie Farrell, Aaron Lines, Terri Clark, Emerson Drive, and Doc Walker. It all began in 2009 when Stacey and Cadence met on set during the filming of CMT’s Karaoke Star, where both were finalists and became fast friends. Cadence then met Ann at CCMA Week in 2011 and they clicked instantly. In late 2013, the three friends joined forces and together Runaway Angel was born. The girls’ first online release in January 2014 titled ‘Our Story’ was the first song they wrote together as a trio and it landed them in the Regional Finals for the 2014 CBC Searchlight contest. Summer of 2014 was filled with ground breaking experiences for the trio, who enjoyed their first opening spots as a group for Dierks Bentley and Tim Hicks, and played in the Boots and Hearts Emerging Artist Showcase. They were invited to present an award at the Country Music Association of Ontario Awards and attended 2014 Country Music Week in Edmonton where they performed in the Coast to Coast Showcase at West Edmonton Mall. March 9th, 2015 was the release of their debut single ‘Run Angel Run’ co-written with Ole Publishing’s Bruce Wallace and produced by award-winning producer Jason Barry. Stacey, Ann and Cadence are excited to release their debut EP this spring. Runaway Angel earned 4 nominations at the 2015 CMAO Awards.
Ontario Country artist CORY MARQUARDT has just released his debut album called This Man featuring the first single "21." Cory returns as part of the Outlaws & Outsiders tour this June with dates in Ontario. The tour stars Aaron Pritchett and also features new country duo King & Cash. His influences range from Eric Church to Merle Haggard - and from Rush to John Mayer. If it's a good song, it'll catch Cory's ear. "I’m a huge fan of Eric Church and very happy with what he is doing in country music," explains Cory. "I still have some boot left to fill but I’m making my way and plan on doing that. Like me, he has a solid rock background mixed with some traditional country which is included especially in our live show." Like most Canadian Country artists, the journey of writing and recording includes trips to Nashville. "Since my first trip to Nashville in 2012, I’ve written over 100 songs with some amazing writers and have created some really cool and honest songs. Writing with people like Rob Crosby, Jason Deere, James Dean Hicks, my good friend Danick Dupelle from Emerson Drive, Patricia Conroy and many more make the writing process fun and quite easy." Tune in to hear Cory talk about his music career, songwriting, Nashville, his new album & much more!
For Lindsay Broughton, Country Music is home. It’s the quiet, country house, white picket fence, and the rocking chair on the porch. Not a surprising association, as she was raised with music as a constant companion throughout her childhood in Brooklin, Ontario. For all her life, no matter what changes headed her way, music has always been there for her. Initially gaining inspiration from her performing mother, as soon as Lindsay was old enough she began performing. She became well and truly bit by the bug in high school, where she learned the guitar and joined the local songwriting club. As part of a field trip, she went to Nashville, where even then her potential was noticed. Arriving back to Brooklin, encouraged by the praise received in Nashville, she was more determined than ever to hone her craft and pursue a career in music. Fast forward: Lindsay has been a regular at the famous Boots & Hearts festival, has played at many CCMA showcases as well as the CMAO Awards show, and has shared the stage with some of country’s heavy hitters such as Chad Brownlee, Emerson Drive and Gord Bamford. Now, her debut full length album entitled Take Me There has been released with thecurrent radio single of the same name written by Lindsay. The album is pulled from real life experiences, but focuses on the cycle we have all gone through at some point; love, loss, and redemption. The single challenges the listener to think back to the moments in their lives that made them the happiest. It’s a toe-tapping, gritty, up-tempo song that encourages you to roll the car window down, relax, and say “bring it on” to whatever lies ahead.
Marshall Dane's infectious blend of country and rock is set to blaze a trail in 2014. Country by definition, but fueled by rock and roll and infected with a watermelon-sized helping of hope, love and salvation, Marshall's the kind of guy you want to have on your side when the going gets tough in this world and his new album, One Of These Days is set to be your alibi. Born in Southern Ontario, Marshall grazed on a rich fix of music, from the country sounds of his preacher dad – “He first taught me how to play “The Farmer's Song” on guitar” – through his mum – in his own words the strongest, toughest, hardest working woman he's ever met – who played piano in the evenings to his four sisters and two brothers and through his own musical discoveries from John Denver to Michael Jackson – “Thriller was the first album I bought, on cassette!” Playing in bars and clubs as a solo singer and with a touring band – has given him his fair share of stories and insights – great for writing songs. He has opened for Alan Jackson and Emerson Drive, played at the 2011 CCMA Awards and toured on his own. On days off however, he prefers to spend his time out of the bar – in the gym, on his motorcycle, practicing yoga or at home in his apartment “cooking up something scrumptious.” Marshall Dane will join Take 2 Radio Music for a chat and music on Wednesday, October 29th at 3pm eastern!

Launched in May 2013, in time for last year’s CMAO Awards – for which he was nominated in several categories including Male Artist and Album Of The Year – and featuring the single and title track, “One Of These Days”, Canadian Country Artist Marshall Dane’s latest album puts life back in to the swing of things, driven by a swirling blast of fabulous melodies that gives you a country rush right from the get-go. One of These Days has country in its veins, topped up with doses of rock, pop and a side helping of soul. This latest collection is never far away from a radio-friendly corner, whether it’s the thrill of “Living It Up” or the reflective energy of “How Do I Get There From Her,” or the rollicking new single, “Alcohol Abuse,” set for February 2014 release in the US and worldwide. Brad Mates in the lead singer of Canadian Country Band Emerson Drive. Brad joins Country Music Made Me to discuss what he learned as a kid watching his Dad perform in his own local Country Music outfit "The Swinging Doors", the importance of the eleventh grade talent show when he jumped on stage to perform for the first time, and how the band was formed after he began jamming with other like minded musicians in his school. Brad and Brendan talk about the bands early days when they would play any show they could, how that benefited them after their move to Nashville, and what it was like to sign a major label record deal with DreamWorks in his early 20's. Brad explains what it was like to have their song "Moments" climbing the charts and hitting #1 as they were dealing with label issues, why they were content with taking a step back and slowing down their career in order to spend more time with their families, and how they were able to manage their career in a way that created longevity rather than simply chasing success. Finally, Brad talks about the group's latest single "Every Girl That Got Away", what the process is like in choosing their new music, and the positive view he continues to have on his career moving forward.
