Jess Rotter is an artist and illustrator who designed a string of record covers for the Light In The Attic label including the superb Country Funk compilations. She’s also illustrated and published a book called I’m Bored and designed shirts and clothing, often with a music theme. Teddy Morgan is a producer, engineer, songwriter and musician. Morgan released a handful of blues and roots albums as an artist before branching out as a producer. He’s worked with John Oates of Hall & Oates and actor Kevin Costner among many others. This episode was recorded in Los Angeles and at Buzz Cason’s Creative Workshop recording studio in Nashville. The theme song is performed by Jimmy Hall & Funky Chester and written by Andreas Werner (Crazy Chester Music, BMI). Used with permission.
Episode 62? Forget it! Try EPISODE AMERICA'S BIRTHDAY!!! This week we're ringing in the next birth year of our country with some good 'ol fashioned Country Western Funk! Hear the musical stylings of David Allan Coe, Link Wray, Lee Hazelwood, Earl Scruggs and MANY MORE! Not to mention our ARTIST OF THE WEEK: CHARLIE BROWN! Not the goofy bald kid with the zig-zag shirt, but brilliant studio session guitarist and song-writer! He worked with the likes of Solomon Burke, Bob Dylan, Van Morrison and Louden Wainwright, so I'd say he's earned his props! Unlike it's Applachia origins, this week's music is all about Country plugged-in. So get ready to tap your foot, stomp your heel, and give two hoots about the United States! Giddy-up! On a rare Sunday morning recording (yes the PBR was flowing) the interview went long. And how could it not with a multi platinum producer like Moe Z? We cover stories from Earth, Wind & Fire to Mellencamp. Of course the Tupac, Snoop, Morris Day and Prince stories were touched upon. And so much more. Moe has teamed up with Brian Smoot & The Summit Band and also has started Funkhouse International Records. Are ya ready for a little "Country Funk"?
