Welcome back to Pursuing Pixels. We're missing Randall this week, but Kevin & John have all sorts of video gaming goodies to discuss, so let's get right into the action! Kevin gets the ball rolling with a couple of Wii U games that he recently scooped up, as he continues to round out the games in his collection. After that, we briefly give some first impressions of Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp, before ultimately deciding to table the discussion until Randall is back in the mix. Finally, John closes things out with a couple of games that he's been enjoying — and having a really hard time putting down — on his PC lately. Subscriber-only episodeAnxiety has a way of sneaking up on us, transforming from a manageable merry-go-round into something far more disorienting and suffocating. With market volatility, endless news cycles, and algorithm-driven content feeding our fears, it's no wonder many entrepreneurs find themselves trapped in an anxiety spiral that paralyzes progress.Through this deeply personal episode, I unpack the progression of anxiety and how it manifests in our business lives. Drawing from conversations with clients and my own experiences, I reveal how anxiety evolves from something we can step away from into a force that pins us against the wall. But more importantly, I offer a practical five-step framework to break free: recognizing anxiety for what it is, calming your nervous system (with reference to Dr. Lahana's strategies from our previous episode), reconnecting with your purpose, taking small but meaningful actions, and finding the right support system. What makes this approach different is the focus on your audience – remembering that they need your solutions, and if anxiety keeps you stuck, they miss out on what only you can provide. Your gifts aren't just for you; they're meant to serve others. Whether you're experiencing hormonal shifts amplifying these feelings or simply navigating uncertain times, these steps provide a path forward without minimizing the very real experience of anxiety.Ready to move past this paralyzing spiral? Check out our Insider community at the special unhinged listener rate, or book a discovery call to explore how personalized coaching might be the supportive hand you need. Your audience is waiting for what only you can offer – let's make sure anxiety doesn't stand in the way of your impact.
fWotD Episode 2894: What a Merry-Go-Round Welcome to Featured Wiki of the Day, your daily dose of knowledge from Wikipedia’s finest articles. The featured article for Monday, 7 April 2025 is What a Merry-Go-Round.What a Merry-Go-Round is the eighteenth collection by British fashion designer Alexander McQueen, made for the Autumn/Winter 2001 season of his fashion house Alexander McQueen. The collection drew on imagery of clowns and carnivals, inspired by McQueen's feelings about childhood and his experiences in the fashion industry. The designs were influenced by military chic, cinema such as Nosferatu (1922) and Cabaret (1972), 1920s flapper fashion, and the French Revolution. The palette comprised dark colours complemented with neutrals and muted greens. The show marked the first appearance of the skull motif that became a signature of the brand. The collection's runway show was staged on 21 February 2001 at the Gatliff Road Warehouse in London, as part of London Fashion Week. It was McQueen's final show in London; all his future collections were presented in Paris. Sixty-two looks were presented in the main runway show, with at least six more in the finale. The show was staged in a dark room with a carousel at the centre. During the finale, the lights came up to reveal piles of discarded childhood bric-à-brac at the rear of the stage, while models dressed as evil clowns cavorted around the stage, posing in their eveningwear.Critical response to the collection was generally positive, and it has attracted some academic analysis for the theme and messaging. Like McQueen's previous show Voss (Spring/Summer 2001), Merry-Go-Round served as a critique of the fashion industry, which he sometimes described as toxic and suffocating. It contained elements that several authors have taken as references to French luxury goods conglomerate LVMH and its management, with whom McQueen had a turbulent relationship. Ensembles from Merry-Go-Round have appeared in exhibitions such as the McQueen retrospective Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty. This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 01:13 UTC on Monday, 7 April 2025.For the full current version of the article, see What a Merry-Go-Round on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Mastodon at @wikioftheday@masto.ai.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm neural Kajal.

Ever feel stuck in the same patterns, relationships, or career cycles?
Mallory is on a mission to age up her appearance, and the pull of the piercing boutique and her desire for a decent haircut compel her to take on a twice-a-week sitting job with the Arnold twins to fund her physical transformation. The new charges seem to be identical, but don't let the precious matching looks (right down to their pinky rings) deceive you–these girls are tired of being treated like carbon copies and have some hijinks up their lace-edged sleeves. In the first episode of our third season, meet us and The New Mallory Pike at the Merry-Go-Round as we select accessories and debate about the relative prevalence of minivans vs. station wagons and the best chicken nuggets in the late ‘80s. ***Check out the work of Hodges Soileau at the artist's site, https://www.hodgessoileau.com/. ***Did you plan twinning moments with a friend or participate in peanut hunts as a kid? In this episode, we are joined by documentary filmmaker, Ilana Thrachtman, director of several films, most recently, “Ain't No Back on a Merry-Go-Round” about the 1960 Civil Rights Movement in Washington DC that you never heard of. This is a powerful film that resonates with us today. It reminds us of where we've been in a not-too-distant America and how we overcame. Ilana was invited to talk with us on Freedom Road about the insights she gleaned from this little-known corner of the Southern Freedom Struggle. In these days when many of our national leaders seem hell-bent on taking us back to the pre-Civil Rights Movement era, we need to be reminded how far we've come. And we need to be equipped with the wisdom they gained in their struggle. We'd love to hear your thoughts. Thread or Insta Lisa @lisasharper or to Freedom Road @freedomroad.us. http://www.willpreston.com/SpotifyTiktokhttps://www.facebook.com/willprestonmusichttps://twitter.com/thewillpreston?lang=enBioInternational R&B artist Will Preston invites listeners to explore a deeper facet of love in his latest single, “Merry Go Round.” With 20 years of singing and performing under his belt, Will welcomes fans all over the world to a new chapter of his career.2024 is the year of Will Preston. From launching his first clothing label, My Best Interest Apparel, to releasing his new single, Will has taken personal setbacks as an opportunity to work even harder this year. At the beginning of 2024, Will unexpectedly lost his father, who was a devoted supporter of Will's career. “It was ammunition to keep me going. My father would've been proud of what I've accomplished this year,” shares Will Preston. Now, approaching the tail-end of 2024, Will is excited to share his latest release, the single “Merry Go Round.”“Merry Go Round” is an introspective look at the darker side of love, the push and pull of wanting someone you know isn't good for you. Instead of walking away, the narrator (through the voice of Will) explores the complexity of wanting to move on while also wanting to stay on the ride that is love. It's a tune to which many can relate. Few are lucky enough to never know the pain of holding on to a relationship that has long been dead and only hope is left to keep it alive. Then there's the rest of us, who hang to Will Preston's every lyric in mutual understanding.“Merry Go Round” opens with dreamy, upbeat vibes, slowly introducing Will Preston's smooth vocals into the mix. His voice carries emotion and depth that add a layer to the story. Combining his signature smooth R&B vocals with a pop twist, Will Preston breathes new life into the single, showcasing his vocal strength and versatility. By infusing his signature ballad style with a tinge of pop, Will is able to speak to wider audiences with his latest single.Since the release of his last single, Will Preston has taken time to reflect and write. “Coming through the end of COVID, there was a lot of downtime in the music industry. This created the perfect opportunity to dig deeper into concepts and topics. I wanted to explore love from the standpoint of a toxic love situation. It's a different side of love we don't often think about, and taking a break from performing during COVID gave me a chance to ponder deeply into the notion. There are so many facets of love to explore,” explains Will.As for his clothing line, Will Preston is excited to embark on a new creative journey. “I know music, but fashion is a different world for me. You can try to apply the same formulas, but it's different. Yet, like my music, I strive to make something high quality that I would be proud to wear. I translate the same energy of making music to my clothing line.”Much like making music, Will finds that he can convert a vision or sound into a finished product in his fashion venture. “It's a different way of seeing the world through a creative lens. You just can't put words to it,” he adds.Next year, we can look forward to Will Preston commencing a new chapter. Not only will he be releasing his new album (before his birthday in April), but he will also be focusing on live performances and engaging with fans on tour.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/creator-to-creators-with-meosha-bean--4460322/support.

We're back with another AFTN Soccer Show packed full of Vancouver Whitecaps, Major League Soccer, and general soccer chat, in what's been another eventful week in the world of Canadian football. The fallout from Vanni Sartini's sacking continues in Vancouver in what has been somewhat of a managerial merry-go-round in MLS these past two months and he was joined in the employment line this past week by John Herdman in Toronto. We look at Herdman's departure at TFC, ponder what's next for him and Vanni, and look again at some of the candidates to replace them in what is now a very busy market. Plus we get the thoughts of Whitecaps captain Ryan Gauld on Sartini leaving the Whitecaps. Our feature interview this episode is with Whitecaps 18-year-old midfielder Jeevan Badwal. We chat with the homegrown star about his whirlwind past two years, signing his first MLS deal, what lies ahead, the pressure of trying to be the South Asian player that breaks through, playing in a World Cup, and more. We continue our Whitecaps awards for 2024, handing out gongs for Game, Goal, Save, and Miss of the Year. Plus we talk MLS Cup, FA Cup, Alphonso Davies' DUI, and music-wise we kick off our 2024 Festive 15 with the songs that came in at the numbers 13 to 15 positions. In this episode of "Healing with Worth," Janine and Naomi continue their exploration of grief, particularly focusing on the phase of obsession following betrayal. They discuss how this phase can consume one's energy and leave someone stuck, often leading to hypervigilance, constant analyzing, and feeling unsafe. The hosts emphasize that while it's normal to experience obsession, it's crucial not to get stuck there. They highlight the importance of self-care, setting boundaries, and being present in the moment as key tools to move through this phase. Janine and Naomi also differentiate between grieving a betrayal and grieving a death, noting that betrayal grief is complicated by the ongoing presence of the person who caused the pain. They discuss the process of healing, which involves not only the betrayed spouse's work but also the understanding that true safety and healing come from within. The episode concludes with a reminder that while it's normal to spin in obsessive thoughts, having the right tools and compassion for oneself can help in stepping out of it and moving toward healing.
