Thanks to one of our VIPs, we're taking a look at a beloved horror comedy classic. Or, more accurately, the grotesquely puppeted sequel bearing the same name. But being the wild card final season, we've got so much we can do to fix it. So are we bringing it back as a sequel, a prequel or a remake? All remains to be seen. Get it? Remains? Corpse. When Eva Peron, Argentina's most famous First Lady, died in 1952, her body was embalmed. Three years later, her widower, Juan Peron, was deposed in a coup. But military officers feared her corpse would become a rallying point of protest against the new government. So they stole it. Over the next few decades, Evita's body was stored in several different places in several different countries, inspiring wild stories about its supernatural powers. In 2013, Linda Pressly spoke to Domingo Tellechea, the art restorer charged with repairing the embalmed body.Eye-witness accounts brought to life by archive. Witness History is for those fascinated by the past. We take you to the events that have shaped our world through the eyes of the people who were there. For nine minutes every day, we take you back in time and all over the world, to examine wars, coups, scientific discoveries, cultural moments and much more. Recent episodes explore everything from football in Brazil, the history of the ‘Indian Titanic' and the invention of air fryers, to Public Enemy's Fight The Power, subway art and the political crisis in Georgia. We look at the lives of some of the most famous leaders, artists, scientists and personalities in history, including: visionary architect Antoni Gaudi and the design of the Sagrada Familia; Michael Jordan and his bespoke Nike trainers; Princess Diana at the Taj Mahal; and Görel Hanser, manager of legendary Swedish pop band Abba on the influence they've had on the music industry. You can learn all about fascinating and surprising stories, such as the time an Iraqi journalist hurled his shoes at the President of the United States in protest of America's occupation of Iraq; the creation of the Hollywood commercial that changed advertising forever; and the ascent of the first Aboriginal MP.(Photo: Evita's body returned from Italy. This week, all the Creeps traveled out to eat great Mexican food on the 4th of July, and we went to Las Matracas. Located at 479 Emily Dr. Clarksburg, WV next to Denny's, in the lovely comfortable hangout spot that was formerly Las Trancas. Open Mon-Fri 11:00 AM-10:00 PM, Sat 11:00 AM-10:30 PM, Sun 11:00 AM-9:00 PM. Here's what we tried:Queso, guacamole, and salsa with our chips. Piña Loca (A pineapple half stuffed with chicken, onion, peppers & tomatoes with melted cheese on top), sizzling chicken fajitas with tortillas, arroz con pollo, shredded beef chimichangas. Completed the meal perfectly by sharing spectacular sopapillas. Then, Matt covers the odd story of Jawed Wassel, an Afghan-American filmmaker who was brutally stabbed to death then dismembered. This occurred after an earnings dispute with producer Nathan Powell in October of 2001. All the events that happen after this are truly wild. Also, the Creeps talk about birthday celebrating, languaging, cilantro, death by sugar, and last minute changes of plans.

Come for the Skaven, stay because you failed your bribery check and now you're wanted for heresy. Want to Join the Adventure? If you're craving chaos, corruption, and career advancement (in-game, of course), join Ash Ely's West Marches campaign on StartPlaying.games. Explore the treacherous roads, clash blades with the forces of corruption, and roll the bones in the grimdark world of Warhammer Fantasy. Whether you're a grizzled veteran or fresh meat for the dice gods, Ash has a seat at the table for you. Show Notes: In this episode of the RPGBOT.Podcast, the hosts venture deeper into the grim and perilous world of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay. The conversation centers on how chance, mechanics, and narrative intertwine to create memorable and brutal gaming experiences. From unlucky dice rolls to warpstone corruption, the hosts unpack the intricate systems that shape character arcs, decision-making, and party dynamics. The discussion kicks off with a recap of the latest Elite Quest and its far-reaching consequences. As the players navigate dangerous terrain, social encounters, and the ever-present threat of death, they reflect on how randomness and risk shape both success and failure in meaningful ways. The hosts also explore the psychological toll of bad luck, the math behind randomness, and the emotional highs of roleplaying through adversity. Tying all of it together is a breakdown of Warhammer's signature mechanics: deadly combat, the role of Fate and Fortune, bribery and sin, and how religion and corruption guide a character's evolution. The conversation reveals how complex mechanics—when well understood—enhance immersion and storytelling at the table. Key Takeaways: The Elite Quest showcases how player decisions carry lasting consequences in Warhammer Fantasy. Luck isn't just flavor—it's a central mechanic that can define a character's fate. Players experience randomness differently depending on how dice rolls or generators are used, which can affect perceptions of fairness. Failure often leads to stronger roleplaying opportunities than success. Warhammer's social systems and bribery mechanics add tension and strategy to every interaction. Combat is brutally realistic, rewarding planning and punishing recklessness. Warpstone and the threat of corruption introduce moral and mechanical complications. Degrees of success and failure enrich the storytelling process by adding nuance to outcomes. Interacting with NPCs meaningfully influences player choices and world development. Understanding the game's mechanics, especially around risk management, is essential to enjoyable play. The Fate and Fortune system provides a safety net, but strategic use is crucial. Character Talents can drive unique and hilarious roleplay decisions. Religion, sin points, and moral consequences give depth to character arcs. Career advancement encourages players to evolve their characters narratively and mechanically. The Skaven hierarchy is complex and important to gameplay and setting immersion. Warhammer's economic systems may be intentionally frustrating to reflect the setting's grim realism. Accents and cultural misunderstandings (in-character) can lead to entertaining and awkward situations. A strong sense of gaming community adds to the emotional impact of each session. Audience engagement—both live and post-show—sparks thoughtful discussion and feedback.   If you enjoy the show, please rate and review us on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or your favorite podcast app. It's a quick, free way to support the podcast, and helps us reach new listeners. She has told scammers she lives at addresses with lewd street names, she has sent pictures of apples—the produce—to scammers requesting Apple gift cards, and she's even tricked a scammer impersonating Mark Wahlberg that she might be experimenting with cannibalism.Though Holmes routinely gets a laugh online, she's also coordinated with law enforcement to get several romance scammers shut down. And every effort counts, as romance scams are still a dangerous threat to everyday people.Rather than tricking a person into donating to a bogus charity, or fooling someone into entering their username and password on a fake website, romance scammers ensnare their targets through prolonged campaigns of affection. They reach out on social media platforms like Facebook, LinkedIn, X, or Instagram and they bear a simple message: They love you. They know you're a stranger, but they sense a connection, and after all, they just want to talk.A romance scammer's advances can be appealing for two reasons. One, some romance scammers target divorcees and widows, making their romantic gestures welcome and comforting. Two, some romance scammers dress up their messages with the allure of celebrity by impersonating famous actors and musicians like Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, and Keanu Reeves. These scams are effective, too, to sometimes devastating consequences. According to recent research from Malwarebytes, 10% of the public have been the victims of romance scams, and a small portion of romance scam victims have lost $10,000 or more.Today, on the Lock and Code podcast with host David Ruiz, we speak with Holmes about her experiences online with romance scammers, whether AI is changing online fraud, and why the rules for protection and scam identification have changed in an increasingly advanced, technological world.”I've seen videos of scammers actually making these real life video manipulation calls where you've got some guy sitting one side of the world pretending to be somewhere else completely, and he's talking into his phone and it's coming out on the other person's phone as a different image with a different voice.”Tune in today. You can also find us on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and whatever preferred podcast platform you use.For all our cybersecurity coverage, visit...

This week, Matt and Britt travelled to Huntington to celebrate WV Day weekend. They stopped at Camden Corner for donuts, but this cozy convenience store has plenty of other delicious food to try, featuring a full deli and hot bar. Nicest people, most adorable donut box ever. Located 3002 Piedmont Rd, Huntington, WV. Open Mon-Fri 6:30 AM-9:00 PM, Sat-Sun 7:00 AM-9:00 PM. Here's what we tried:Donuts: Strawberry jam and cream "hotdog", chocolate glazed buttercream filled, glazed, glazed cream filled, apple filled, lemon filled. Cream horn was eaten prior to recording...Then, Kelsey covers the story of a woman in Anchorage, Alaska who had stolen an sd card from the console of a vehicle while on a supposed date. Years later, it would be used as evidence in the trial of Brian Steven Smith, who was on trial and recently sentenced for multiple murders. The card was filled with horrid photos and video of Smith and his victims. This episode is graphic in detail, discretion advised. Also, Matt lacks his usual zhuzh. He missed his opportunities to zhuzh when it mattered and he blew it. He makes up for it by covering other things to do in Huntington, including driving around to find the locations used in the 60's movie that was filmed there - Teen-age Strangler!

Drawing from the darker, more extreme elements of Death, Slayer, and Kreator, New Jersey's Ripping Corpse set out to break free from the conventions of their death and thrash metal peers.Though their time together was short-lived, the band was relentless in their pursuit of sonic intensity, honing their craft through constant rehearsals and several demos. Under the guidance of guitarist Shaune Kelley, many of these songs culminated in their sole full-length release, Dreaming with the Dead.Combining the blistering technicality of death metal with a raw, hardcore attitude, the album was remarkably ahead of its time. Sadly, issues with the band's label and management halted the band's momentum before they could develop their sound further.Regardless, Dreaming with the Dead stands as both a powerful statement and precursor of things to come. Several members would later carry the torch in the equally intense Dim Mak. The album also launched the career of guitarist / producer Erik Rutan, who went on to play in Morbid Angel, Hate Eternal, and Cannibal Corpse, and operate his acclaimed studio, Mana Recording. While Dreaming with the Dead has since established itself as a cult classic of the era, one question will always remain: What could've been?Recommendations:Human Remains - Using Sickness as a HeroStomach - Low DemonStress Positions - Human ZooGold Dust - In the Shade of the Living LightHate Eternal - Fury and FlamesPelican - Flickering ResonanceFollow Riff WorshipInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/riffworshippod/Twitter: https://x.com/RiffWorshipPodYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@RiffWorshipPodCheck out our Official Playlists:Riffs on Repeat (Spotify)Hits from the Crypt (Apple)
