James Jacobson has founded several companies and is a serial entrepreneur whose career has primarily been focused in the media arena since graduating from the University of Virginia in 1988. Currently James is building Dog Podcast Network. In the past several years, James has been putting his attention on a promising cancer therapeutic company he co-founded with Dr. Demian Dressler in 2008 called Functional Nutriments. James Jacobson has been described as both “a serial entrepreneur” and as a “monk in the marketplace.” He has authored best-selling books, been a broadcaster and built businesses that leveraged new trends that were sometimes considered “just a little ahead of their time.” The overarching theme of his career has been building ventures that make a meaningful difference in the lives of as many people as possible. For over 20 years, that took the form of creating projects and companies that leveraged the power of media including teleproduction, radio, publishing and, the Internet. Since 2008, James Jacobson's focus has been on Functional Nutriments, a biotech company that has developed and brought to market first-in-class nutraceuticals that induce and support apoptosis. Apoptosis is a critical biological life process that is encoded in the DNA; and the absence of normal levels of apoptosis is linked to serious diseases including cancer. Businesses that he developed, founded or helped co-found include a video yearbook company, a teleproduction and video marketing company, a talk radio station, a cable TV network, an e-commerce company, a magazine publisher, a book publisher, and a biotech nutraceutical firm. His author credits include "How to Meditate with Your Dog" and the best-selling series "Top Maui Restaurants" which he co-authored with his wife, Molly Jacobson. “do what you love, be passionate about what you love and don't do it for the money. If you love money don't be an entrepreneur be a salesperson… If you are going to dedicate your life and your blood and your sweat and your tears and your shower time and endanger relationships should be for something that you really, really love. And I think that's so critical and I think sometimes especially at the beginning of someone's entrepreneurial journey they are just looking to make the quick buck that usually… I won't say never… That usually doesn't work out in the long-term and it certainly doesn't pay the psychic dividends that will feed you when you come across adverse”…[Listen for More] Click Here for Show Notes To Listen or to Get the Show Notes go to https://wp.me/p6Tf4b-giv

James Brodie started out auditing for Arthur Andersen and did not particularly enjoy it. In the early 1990s he started to learn about derivatives at the largest bank in the world before ultimately moving to Credit Suisse. He's lived in London, Singapore, New York and Tokyo trading currencies for both the banks and proprietary and then started his own hedge fund. James is also on the Board of the CMT Association. I really enjoyed the advice he gives about what he learned from 2 massive losses he's taken throughout his career. James is a big fan of behavioral finance and we talk about different studies where we've learned that the better traders actually have more losing trades than winning trades. Currently James is watching Gold, EURJPY and US Interest Rates and talks about how he wants to trade them. This was a fun conversation where we covered a lot of things.

Welcome to the second episode of the Postural Restoration Podcast! In this episode, I am joined by James Anderson, MPT, PRC. Before the foundation of the Postural Restoration Institute (Episode 1) James’ Relationship and Mentorship with Ron Hruska grew. Initially hearing about Ron while attending Physical Therapy school at The University of Nebraska Medical Center James discovered that his approach was unlike the traditional coursework he was being taught at the time. While considering his dedication to the field as a whole, this new approach re-ignited James and his desire to start a career within the field of Physical Therapy. Through other mentors and guidance James continually grew to know Ron and eventually they became very close friends. Prior to becoming involved with this institute James spent his early years out of school helping to teach introductory courses relating to the newly created Protonics Device. It was during these years that James’ appreciation and understanding of Human Asymmetry and Respiration grew strong.James spent many years traveling and being mentored by Ron and together they co-taught many courses. Eventually James would become the second Faculty member for the Institute under the guidance and direction of Ron Hruska. In this episode James discusses the transition he made from a Myokinematic mindset, to his appreciation and dedication to Respiration and Breathing mechanics as part of this whole system approach. Currently James teaches Myokinematic Restoration, Postural Respiration, Impingement & Instability and co-instructs at all Affiliate programs currently being offered.James’ dedication and passion to this science allowed him to take on a role as Director of PRI Affiliate courses, and has sinced worked with various PRI clinicians to put together several Affiliate programs. With the newly compiled PRI Integration for Pediatrics course there are now five affiliate courses including, PRI Integration for Geriatrics, PRI Integration for Baseball, PRI Integration for Fitness and Movement and PRI Integration for Pilates. James continues to remain passionate about mentorship and outreach and offers his time and experience with this institute as a resource to other PRI clinicians, students and patients. James and his family reside in St. George Utah and they enjoy all that the area has to offer especially Hiking, several recreational activities and visiting the many lakes in the area. James not only practices locally when home, but also offers consultation
Welcome to episode number 98 with James Garvey. He is an artist blacksmith just outside of New York City in Piermont NY. His training includes 6 years at the Art Department of Colorado State University and 10 years as head of Blacksmithing at the Rochester Folk Art Guild. He has designed and built public commissions in Manhattan including works at two subway stations, The School of Spirits Doors at the Dwight School in Manhattan, The Lariat Rustic Rail in Central Park, and a restoration project on the Statue of Liberty. But before we get into the interview I wanted to tell you guys about the Hammer making online class with Patrick Quinn. It’s going to be an online course where Patrick is walking you through the steps of forging a 2.25lb straight peen hammer with a striker. You will learn how to measure, punch and drift the hole, forge the cheeks, forge the peen and fuller around the face and peen. The majority of the work will be done with sledge- hammers and a striker; focus will be placed on proper striking technique. All heat-treating steps will be covered, including hardening, tempering, and finishing (polishing the faces). Handle making will also be covered so you will have the knowledge to make a handled straight peen hammer ready to use! I know a bunch of you have been waiting a long time for this class to release and it will be available for purchase on March 9th. I have to tell you this was an epic project for me, because it included a 10 hour day of filming Patrick and Kyle with 3 cameras for different angles and close-ups a little over 100 hours of editing/producing and developing the education content I learned a lot about filming techniques, course development, instructional design, instructor voice over recording and of course lots and lots of video editing. And the course came out really nice, rich with information, has a good flow from module to module and clear close-up video shots of the techniques I’m really proud of the course content, how Patrick seamlessly teaches each step of the process of forging a 2.25 lb straight peen hammer. I think you guys are really going to like it and we have a fun blooper reel from filming day and voice over recording day. So keep March 9th in your mind for you to visit www.blacksmitheracademy.com to find out more details on the course and to purchase it. The price is $35 for the online course and once you sign up for it you will have access to the course forever. What We Talked About James talks about how he has moved his blacksmith shop 5 times and the benefits that come from moving. Currently James is teaching his artistic blacksmith class every Saturday and forging sculptures that he wants to make. James uses his hydraulic 75 ton press for a lot of his forging. Though on the Statue of Liberty project he used their 120 ton press. He tells us about how intense the project was to restore the armature on the inside of the Statue of Liberty. He and a crew of 40 guys forged and replaced 1600 bars for the job. While he was the head blacksmith for the Rochester Folk Art Guild they went to 12 festivals a year and sold their craft work, it made for a very busy schedule. He explains how his BFA has helped him with his artist blacksmith career, mainly for writing his syllabus for his forging class he teaches at the Arts Students League of New York. Within his syllabus, James has come up with his own glossary of terms; Form idea, Visual forensics and Visceral cognition. When asked what blacksmith James would like to learn from he mentioned Alessandro Mazzucotelli, the Italian blacksmith in the early 1900’s.
