Upon the release of the White House's new National Cybersecurity Strategy, federal IT and cyber leaders reviewed current cyber risks and strategies at GovCIO Media & Research's first in-person event of the year, CyberScape: Insider Threats. Managing hybrid cloud security vulnerabilities, reducing technical debt, limiting the spread of shadow IT and securing open-source software were major talking points.

Drawing on her experience as a CTO in the private sector, Assistant National Cyber Director for Technology Security Anjana Rajan centered national discussions around open-source software security against the backdrop of the Russia-Ukraine war. Rajan identified risk drivers and solutions for bringing cybersecurity to the forefront of IT per the Biden administration's new National Cybersecurity Strategy during the closing fireside chat of GovCIO Media & Research's CyberScape: Insider Threats event.

In 2017 she was inducted into the Army Public Affairs Hall of Fame and received the Joe Galloway Lifetime Achievement Award for excellence in strategic communication. She currently serves as Board Secretary and Trustee with the U.S. Army War College Foundation; this year she authored the foreword to the College’s new Communications Campaign Planning Primer. Trust is unraveling across American institutions, affecting not only government but also news organizations, trusted sources of information and, most critically, expertise and values. The impact is not just institutional, the decay also affects individuals, families and shared norms. The very foundations of American civic culture seem increasingly at risk. After a… failure, and some… internal struggles, this led to one of the founders forming a new company, which alongside creating the latest gaming masterpiece, Cyberscape Neo, also continued pursuing a questionable, yet ambitious initiative. Roland: (catching the audience up on recent events, sighing) Because of our status as Synthetic Users, the players in these games don't understand who or what we are, usually assuming that we're just non-player characters acting oddly. We tend to like it better this way, since we're under NDA and can't explain our circumstances, anyways.
