"Be it. Trust it." Arguably one of the most inspiring stories I've heard in a long time, Senior Yoga Teacher, Danny Pomplun, shares his journey where he went from drug addict to a well-respected yoga teacher. Growing up in East LA back in the day, and with a challenging child-hood, pushed Danni to leave home at the age of 16 years old and live on his own. Turning to drugs, sex work, and any means to help him survive, Danni has experienced life in a way that many of us have never seen, or imagined. Through a series of events, Danni was able to pull himself out of those toxic environments and grow into an inspiration for us all. - - - Listen to this 45-minute episode where Paul interviews Danni on his life story that will inspire your day! From scrubbing toilets to leading trainings all over the world, Danni shares more than just his story, but his revelations throughout his life which is better than any self-help book you could pick up! - - - If you liked this episode (or any others), and you haven't given us some love, then here's what you can do: If you listen on Spotify, give us a follow and like! Danni Pomplun Vroom Vroom Veer Stories Danni is excited about a yoga and mediation retreat he has coming up in January for New Year's in Baja California, Mexico at Todos Santos He grew up in and around the Echo Park area of East LA...it's kinda nice and hip now, but back that is was filled with gangs all day long Growing Danni's father was absent and his mother was an addict and a felon, in and out of prison; Danni was working on surviving his environment every day At age 16 and left home and started living on the street and doing what he had to do to survive; some days he sold drugs; other days he would steal to eat and stay warm How Danni's childhood trauma left him without the emotional tool set to deal said trauma; so no knowing how to process those feelings he numbed himself with alcohol and drugs He started working at bars and night clubs which only fed into the addiction and the numbing behavior Everyone is addicted to something and that just means we don't have a healthy way to process painful thoughts and emotions; we need normalize this so we can feel connection instead of isolation At age 25 a partner of his pasted away; he went on a rager into his addiction and trashed his apartment; his roommate at the time told him she could be around him anymore; this led to a suicide attempt His roommate suggested that he go to a yoga class; the community allowed him to have a space to talk about what was he was dealing with Going to yoga helped him drink less because he had something else in his life to commit to; it also helped him quit one of his bar jobs so he could move away from booze After he quit the bar job, he didn't have enough money to pay for yoga classes; so the studio allowed him to scrub toilet for free yoga The studio very gently nudged him to take a teacher training class just for free yoga; he resisted at first, but realized he need to accept their gift Danni Pomplun Connections Website
