During this episode, Howard Bloom asserts that truth and soul are the best ways to influence. Howard should know. He played an important role in the careers of legendary musicians like Michael Jackson, Prince, John Cougar Mellencamp, plus many, many others. His method for promoting artists included finding the gods within, secular shamanism, soul spelunking, and exploring the caves of your emotions. More recently, Howard founded the Howard Bloom Institute where he and his colleagues pursue an agenda of “omnology” (the aspiration to omniscience; an academic base for the promiscuously curious, a discipline that concentrates on seeing the patterns that emerge when one views all the sciences and the arts at once) and collaborate to continue the Western agenda into space. Despite their not being too many good things that happened throughout college football and the NFL in regards to our teams – we definitely tried our hardest to find some. In our first hour today we were joined by Chris Balas to get his thoughts on Harbaugh's loss to Indiana on Saturday. Huge and Chris had a great back and forth regarding how Harbaugh and his staff ultimately need to step up and figure something out to turn that program around – because they haven't been cutting it. In our second hour we were joined by Matt Wenzel to get his thoughts on that Spartan performance against Iowa from Saturday. Despite Tucker's squad not performing the best this year, Huge and Matt agreed that expectations weren't too high – but the fact that Mel is more accepting of his failures than other coaches is a plus for MSU. Journey towards CPI Jim is the youngest of four siblings, and grew up with a desire to follow his father’s footsteps. But at the age of 17, his father passed away. Fortunately, Jim was able to continue his studies. “Getting the answers on the test was one thing, but figuring out how to go forward was the bigger reward.” -Jim Cowper While in college, he worked as a day laborer. He eventually landed a job in a technical staffing firm, and transferred to CPI in 1983. Jim worked for another staffing company afterwards, until he retired and returned to CPI. On the Lookout for Veterans Contact Professionals, Inc. was founded as a veteran-owned company. They have been recruiting, hiring, and supporting veterans for many years. “For 35 years we’ve been this firm who went out, recruited, and hired veterans because we thought that was the right thing to do. Now in 2017, it’s hip to hire veterans.” They staff veterans with technical skills from tank mechanic to aviation engineers. They have also branched out to other defense clients. According to Jim, a lot of companies are now looking for veterans. Although he doesn’t have any military background, he has been with veterans for a long time. He finds them invigorating, and appreciates their dedication and bravery. No Easy Solution Jim acknowledges the challenges that veterans and companies face.
