I'm vibin'....laid back, soft as cotton and silky smooth. That doesn't even begin to describe this podcast. Gail Jhonson was born in Philadelphia, PA. Her fascination with the piano began at 10. By 14, Gail had played her first gig. Since then, she’s traveled the world. Gail graduated from Berklee College of Music with a B.A. in Composition. She moved to Los Angeles, where she’s performed with Norman Brown, Mindi Abair, Bobby Womack, Ray Parker Jr., Pink, Milli Vanilli, Morris Day, and Rain Pryor. On TV - The Jay Leno Show, BET, several videos, Gospel Theatre, Jazz Festivals with Cindy Bradley, Peabo Bryson, Jeff Lorber, and Patti Austin. In 2010 and 2011, The American Black Music Association awarded Gail a Spotlight Award in Los Angeles as "Best Jazz Musician." Her daughter Tamina performed and won “Best Jazz Vocalist.” Gail’s CD “Pearls” garnered the nod in the 51st Annual Grammy Awards, a featured artist on the SummerStorm Tour, hosted by Norman Brown, for whom she has been music director for many years. Gail leads the female ensemble Jazz in P!nk, with Karen Briggs, Althea Rene, and Mariea Antoinette. Her band is "3 Piece Suit". The Detroit River Walk Jazz and Soul Concert Series is a bi-weekly Thursday night Jazz series beginning June 20 and will feature an array of local, national and international Jazz artists, including, The flutist Kim Scott, Motown Jazz XPerience, Karen Briggs and Gail Jhonson, on the garden patio of Robert's River Walk Hotel on the river.  Produced by T. Saxophonist Phil Denny, has a long history of performing in the Mid-West as the front man and founder of the Lansing, MI based group, Too Smooth For Notes. For the last several years, Phil has been developing and honing in on his individuality on the sax while cultivating a diverse fan base and building an impressive resume. Having played with notable artists including Kirk Whalum, Tim Bowman, Gail Jhonson, Lalah Hathaway, Orrick Ewing and even had a memorable jam session with Stevie Wonder. Phil began playing the saxophone at age 12 as part of the public school band program and knew early on that music would most certainly be a life-long interest. Recently, music has become a way of life as Phil stepped down as vice president for a mortgage brokerage company after 7 years of service the industry. Phil has been known for his engaging live performances and command while on stage. In July, Phil released his first single "Sway Back" from his highly anticipated debut album "Urgings of Soul" expected to be released later this year.
