2009 | Boney James - I'll Be Good To You El saxo de Boney James es garantía de soul. 2012 | Euge Groove - Old School Euge Groove rinde tributo al old school con saxo funky y soul. 1998 | Gabriela Anders - You Know What It's Like Volvemos con Gabriela para cerrar fuerte. 2017 | Walter Beasley - Steady As She Goes La guitarra y voz de Walter Beasley son puro soul suave.

It is a privilege to welcome legendary composer, producer, and saxophonist Boney James to The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast.  Boney's musical journey began when he picked up the clarinet at eight and switched to the saxophone at 10.  His family moved from New Rochelle, New York, to Los Angeles when he was 14.  In the City of Angels, Boney James joined his first band and attended the University of California at Los Angeles. After he graduated with a history degree, he turned his attention to music full-time and learned to play keyboards.  In 1985, he joined Morris Day's band and spent seven years as a sideman and touring musician for Bobby Caldwell, the Isley Brothers, Randy Crawford, and Teena Marie. In 1992, Boney released his debut album, Trust, and has released 15 solo studio albums and a collaborative record, Shake It Up, with Rick Braun in 2000.   Boney James also recorded many legendary recording artists such as Al Jarreau, Angie Stone, Anthony Hamilton, Faith Evans, George Benson, and Kenny Lattimore. In 2014, Boney produced two songs on Al Jarreau's tribute record to George Duke, My Old Friend: “Bring Me Joy” (with George Duke) and “No Rhyme, No Reason” (with Kelly Price). The following year, he first appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.   Earlier this year, Boney James made history as he became the first recording artist to hit 20 number one singles on the Billboard Smooth Jazz chart. In addition to his Billboard milestone, he is a four-time Grammy Award nominee and a Soul Train Award winner. Boney also received three NAACP Image Award nominations for Best Jazz Album.  On October 18, Boney will release his nineteenth studio album, Slow Burn. The record's first single, “All I Want is You,”  is a collaboration with rising R&B star October London. The song was Boney's fastest-reaching single on Adult Urban Radio, reaching the Top 30 in three weeks and crossing the 1 million streams milestone within two weeks on Pandora.  On this edition of The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast, Boney James discussed the lessons he learned from Bobby Caldwell, Morris Day, and Teena Marie, Slow Burn's recording process, and “All I Want is You's” viral success.Let's connect on social media! Episode 116- Join host Troy Saunders as he converses with Songwriter, Producer, and one of the premiere flutist around, the incomparable "Ambassador of Instrumental Soul" Darryl Evan Jones.  In the tradition of pioneering contemporary jazz greats like Tim Weisberg and Hubert Laws, Darryl Evan Jones, long known by his fans and peers as “The Fluteman” brings the unique instrument's classic vibe and rich melodic and harmonic possibilities to a new generation. Darryl Evan Jones' journey has brought him to performances stages like The Cannon Center in Memphis, Philadelphia's Mandell Theater, and the Capital Jazz Fest.  He's also been the opening act for artists like Jeff Lorber, Kem, Boney James, and has shared the stage with Marion Meadows. The musical style of Darryl Evan Jones is truly original; combining the genres of Jazz, Classical, and Gospel music. He calls his style Instrumental Soul. Darryl insists that he's a soul singer who can't sing, but expresses his emotions through the flute. He's also the winner of the “Solo Instrumental” category in the (International) 2024 Made In New York Jazz Competition, representing the United States.Since the release of his “Relentless” album, Darryl has made quite a stir with this memorable project. Darryl Evan Jones unfolds the diversity of the flute as only a master of this instrument can do; a valuable asset to those who love this instrument and all other contemporary jazz fans. "On The Run", the first radio single from the "Resilient" album has already made waves by making its mark on the Radio Wave Groove Jazz and SJ Network Charts. The release of the second radio single "Road Trip, combined with the release of "Resilient" is sure to cement Darryl Evan Jones as a bonified force in Contemporary Jazz.In this episode Troy and Darryl converse on a myriad of topics; from Darryl's humble beginnings growing up in the South Bronx, NYC - to his move to the southern portion of the US. They dive into Darryl's outlook on the pluses and minuses of the transition. This made for a very interesting conversation.  Darryl has been playing the flute since that age of 8, but not until slightly before 2005 has he pursued it as a career. Really kicking it in to high gear within the last 10 years. Find out what his other career is and what life changing events helped him in making that decision. Of course they discussed how and why he started to play the flute and how he cultivated his distinctive sound. Through out their conversation Troy plays some of Darryl's unforgettable music, as the man himself gives the audience the backdrop on each song. Some of the songs featured in this podcast  are "Dream", Unstoppable", "It's Alive", "Resilient", and "Road Trip".Tune in and be uplifted by the music and the conversation between to fun loving and spirited individuals. You would swear that they have known each other for years. Listen and subscribe to the BAAS Entertainment Podcast on Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Deezer, iHeartRadio, Pandora, Podchaser, Pocket Casts and TuneIn. “Hey, Alexa. Send us a Text Message. This week on The Joy of Cruising Podcast, I am delighted to welcome Michael Lazaroff, Executive Director and Owner, Jazz Cruises, the world's leader in full-ship charter jazz music cruises, having produced over 90 full-ship charters featuring more than 2000 musicians including several legendary performers and dozens of Grammy winners. Jazz Cruisesis comprised principally of a portfolio of three theme cruises: The Jazz Cruise, launched in 2001, the first and only full-ship cruise charter dedicated to “straight-ahead” jazz; The Smooth Jazz Cruise, the company's flagship cruise it holds twice each spring. The Smooth Jazz Cruise sold out its first sailing in 2004 and has held 34 consecutive sold out cruises since; and, Botti at Sea, designed in the spirit and style of Grammy-winning world renowned trumpeter Chris Botti. I wrote about Michael and Jazz Cruises in my new release, The Joy of Cruising Again http://amzn.to/3lAfyON. I got to meet Michael when I checked off a bucket list item by sailing The Smooth Jazz Cruise in 2023 which included performances by just about ‘everyone who is anyone in smooth jazz,' such as Marcus Miller, Boney James, Gerald Albright, Candy Dulfer, Bryan Culbertson, Take 6, and one of my favorite comedians, Alonzo Bodden. I got to take photos with Michael McDonald, and with Peter White. I even met rising saxophone star Vince Ingala who agreed to come on The Joy of Cruising Podcast when I was first starting out and for that I am forever appreciative. (Vincent Ingala: Performing On Theme Cruises https://www.buzzsprout.com/2113608/12246466) Many of you know about my love for music, and smooth jazz is my favorite genre. I have wanted to profile Michael and his importance to live jazz on the ocean since my first cruising book, The Joy of Cruising. I remember my reaction when Michael agreed to talk about Jazz Cruises, LLC in The Joy of Cruising Again, and I am similarly ecstatic to get to chat with him again for the global cruise community to hear.Support the Show.Support thejoyofcruisingpodcast https://www.buzzsprout.com/2113608/supporters/newSupport Me https://www.buymeacoffee.com/drpaulthContact Me https://www.thejoyofcruising.net/contact-me.htmlBook Cruises https://bit.ly/TheJoyOfCruisingPodcast-BookACruiseUS Orders (coupon code joyofcruisingpodcast)The Joy of Cruising https://bit.ly/TheJoyOfCruisingCruising Interrupted https://bit.ly/CruisingInterruptedThe Joy of Cruising Again https://bit.ly/TheJoyOfCruisingAgainIntl Orders via Amazon

I mean, that's that's a fact. Just because it's you know, being on the road is its own thing. You know?"09:10 - Artistic Autonomy and Self-Production: "But, you know, since since I've been producing the records myself and I've got my studio at the house, and and I can just work on it as long as I want to until I feel like it's ready. And and I've developed more confidence in my own opinion about things. I know that when I put a record out that I love it and that, you know, in terms of what other people are gonna think, that's something you can never say. And I tried very hard not to try and get into the head of the quote, unquote audience, you know, when I'm making music. I'm just trying to please myself."36:18 - Touring Strategy of Musicians: "It depends. I mean, you know, we just go where the gigs are, and and and we try and make smart decisions about gigs. And and and if we get a gig that's a good gig, we will try and find other shows around it to surround it... But for the most part, it's just, you know, very dependent on the offers and, and how the calendar works out."ContactFresh Coast Jazz FestivalBoney James

Other standouts on Detour include the track “Bring It Back”, which features critically acclaimed composer, conductor, orchestrator, arranger, and trumpeter, Dontae Winslow; and the album's title track “Detour,” a winding, playful duet between sax and piano that features some of Boney's most adventurous playing to date.During his 30-year career, Boney James has released a staggering 18 studio albums – including a pair of Christmas records -with 1995's Seduction, 1997's Sweet Thing and 1999's Body Language all RIAA certified gold.
