Boxing legend George Foreman has died at the age of 76. Olympic champion in Mexico in 1968, he defeated Joe Frazier to become world heavyweight champion in 1973, losing his crown to Muhammad Ali in the legendary "Rumble in the Jungle" the following year. A comeback in the 1990s saw him crowned WBA and IBF world heavyweight champion at the age of 45, before becoming a world famous name all over again thanks to the Foreman grills. On a visit to Ireland, George Foreman spoke to Will Downing about his long and colourful career.

We were introduced to Carol on The Soul Train Cruise, where she was one of performers ranging from Soul Train TV show stars like Shalimar, to contemporary favorites like Carol. Will Downing's daughter, Aron Siobhan Downing, tragically died by suicide on January 11, 2023. She had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, depression, and schizophrenia. In her memory, Will Downing released a heartfelt song titled “Till We Meet Again,” aiming to raise awareness about mental health and provide comfort to those facing similar challenges. You will see the video in tonight's episode, which Mr. Downing gave us permission to include in this interview. He joins Dr. Delvena on the couch and courageously opened up about this devastating chapter, shedding light on the importance of mental health and the need for support, love, and understanding. His story reminds us to check in on our loved ones and ensure no one feels alone in their struggles. This unimaginable pain has touched not only his family but also countless others who share in their grief. Let's honor her memory by continuing the conversation around mental health and reaching out to those who might be suffering in silence. His 2011 release entitled "Reflection", features a cool collection of original tracks packed with smooth grooves and emotional ballads. In 2012 Tim recorded and released "Tim Cunningham Live" where he covered a collection of some of his favorite songs.In 2019 Tim hosted and performed in the 1st Annual Smooth Jazz Cruise on Land in St. Louis. This inaugural festival featured Brian Culbertson, Eric Darius, Grace Kelly and Erin Bode and was produced by Entertainment Cruises Productions and producers of the Smooth Jazz Cruise.Tim's experiences bridge beyond the live stage to TV as he co-wrote and performed the theme song to 20th Century Fox's "Bertice Berry Show". He also appeared in the movie, "The Ghost Who Walks" as Officer Taylor, three episodes of "The Untouchables" TV series as The Saxophonist, BET's "Jazz Central and a commercial spot for Budweiser. In 2021 "Smile" co-written with Al Caldwell from Tim's "Waiting for Love" CD was featured in the movie, "The Job" written, directed and produced by Randy J. Episode 113- Join host Troy Saunders as he converses the guitarist, songwriter, singer, producer, mixer, engineer, entrepreneur and so much more David P. Stevens.The episode begins with a brief and light hearted conversation on David's early life in Philadelphia. He is the youngest of 4 children, who's parents both were educators and his father was the Pastor their church. David's father also had a funk band in which David's older siblings were members. He was too young to join, but this influenced David to start playing the guitar and sing. David explains his many moves in life from living in Nashville, Detroit, Philadelphia and eventually Los Angeles. Each move was to accomplish and new goal. Did you know that David's first album was a gospel album, released in 1999? It is no longer available for streaming. Troy and David discussed the reason for its unavailability and the possibility of re-releasing it.Through out the conversation Troy goes through David's vast catalog of music highlighting songs that touched him and or David. He started with David's first jazz release in 2005; the album "Timeless". They grooved to the title track. Another song featured was a beautiful song called "I Need You" which featured both David and Mitchell Jones of Commissioned. David tells how this collaboration came to be and how it was one of the highlights of his career so far. David's collaborations span the who's who's in music including Frank McComb, Maysa, Gerald Albright, Najee, Will Downing, LaToya Luckett, Carol Riddick (their collaboration "Love Is Still in Style" is also featured in this episode) Lin Rountree, Carl Cox, Steve Cole and sooo many more. David inspires to work with even more artist across all genres. Some the artists on his wish list include Ledisi, Deborah Cox, Barbra Streisand, James Taylor, Lalah Hathaway and more. Of course this episode would not have been complete without talking about David's latest album "Go". David once said that his album "Rouge" was his favorite release; but I think that "Go" has him changing his mind. The whole album is a masterpiece, so it was hard for Troy to pick which songs to highlight. He started with the jazzy remake of Evelyn "Champagne" King's "Love Come Down" with Erin Stevenson on vocals. Evelyn is the blueprint; but David did a great job reinventing this R&B classic. Then Troy switched gears and played "Cozy"; a nod to the the great classic R&B slow jams from the 1980's. Another selection played was "Journey Home" which is bound to be a smooth jazz classic. For the next two songs Troy enlisted help from David; asking what were his favorites off of the album. David suggests "East Meets West" ( an old Norman Brown, one of David's influences, hit) and "Might As Well" ( A tune the starts off as a smooth jazz classic and by the end you are in the middle of a full gospel experience. They ended the episode with the latest single "Go" which features the man himself on vocals. This song is at home on any R&B station as well as on smooth jazz formats. David has a new video premiering on September 3 for this single. It will showcase David's acting, scoring and production skills. D Train tells how Will Downing got him into the school's famous Choral Club and started his music career. Both men had fond memories of their old High School and talk about their mutual friends as well as the idea of doing a documentary about the world famous school. Other legends like Barbra Streisand, Neil Diamond, May West, Clive Davis, Kedar Massenburg, Bernadette Stanis, Gabe Kaplan and so many more have walked their halls. D train explains how, what seemed like overnight, he and his songwriting partner, band member, and mentor, Hubert Eaves III, were on top of the Billboard charts and on tour with George Clinton, Peabo Bryson, Midnight Star, The Deele and so many top acts of that time. He tells how legendary radio DJ, Frankie Crocker, of WBLS in NYC, loved their music and helped to get it played around the country. D Train also explains the thought process behind hits like "Keep On" and "Thank You" and the positive impacted they had on many of his listeners, Troy included. After 5 albums D Train decided not to make another album for almost 20 years. He tells of a performance that helped him in making that decision. D- Train still remained a much sort after session and jingle singer. Working on albums by many of the greats in the industry including Luther Vandross, Gladys Knight, Cher and Michael Jackson. One entertaining story he shared, comes from a session while working on the Michael Jackson "Invincible" album. Hilarious!! Wait until you hear it!Troy and D Train not only talk about music; but they also converse about racism in America, and why many artist prefer performing over seas. D Train also stresses how artist should know their self worth, especially when negotiating their price with promoters. He also expressed his insecurities and how they kept him from releasing new music until now. With pride and excitement D Train informs the listener on some of the great music to expect on his new album; due to be released later this month or in August. Hubert Eaves IV is well known for his incredible playing on Erykah Badu's 1997 live album, entitled "Live." Bass players across the globe are blown away by his tight, crisp pocket playing, locked in perfectly with drummer Poogie Bell. What a lot of people don't know is that Hue had been laying it down for years before the Erykah Badu album. Hubert's father, Hubert Eaves III, was a renowned keyboardist and producer who was part of the band Mtume....you know, the guys who wrote that groove sampled by Notorious B.I.G. for "Juicy." His father was also half of the duo D-Train and wrote and produced for many artists including Jocelyn Brown and Whitney Houston. HEIV picked up both bass and drums at a young age and began to learn the ins and outs of performing and recording music. At the age of 21 he would play bass on Jocelyn Brown's hit single "Ego Maniac." You can hear how nasty his groove was even at age 21 on this track. Since then along with Erykah Badu, HEIV has played with Will Downing, Seal, The O'Jays, Freddie Jackson, Lisa Lisa and the Cult Jam and many others. HEIV is also a talented composer and producer and has four self titled singles out which feature some of most funky-ass grooves you'll ever hear entitled: "Radio," "Dot-Da-Dah," "Incubated Funk," and "Get Up." His collaboration with his wife, Alisa Ohri, on her album "Cuz I Feel" is also a must listen for all bassists. In this episode we talk about how Hue built up his incredibly funky groove, the advantages of being a bassist and drummer and how he originally turned down the Erykah Badu gig....twice!

It's a historic fourth medal for Ireland at the 2024 European Athletics Championships in Rome - beating the previous record from 1998. Sophie Becker, Rhasidat Adeleke, Phil Healy and Sharlene Mawdsley speak to Will Downing - but not necessarily in that order.

This celebrated British jazz pianist, songwriter and record producer was labelled a veteran by critics at age 19 and over the following decade won most of the major jazz music awards. Born in Surrey and raised in Wandsworth London, he was classically trained and attended the Guildhall School of Music . Emerging in the late 80s as a jazz pianist and influenced by Herbie Hancock and McCoy Tyner, he recorded three solo albums in his early 20s and his debut album A Clearer View in 1990 was produced by his dream choice of Wayne Shorter. This led to him appearing on the cover of The Wire magazine. He additionally worked with Jean Toussaint, Tommy Smith, and Branford Marsalis In the late 90's Sting invited him to join his band following the death of Kenny Kirkland which saw him tour with Sting for the next six years and recording three albums. He then became a member of Jeff Beck's band, touring for six years and recording a further three albums. During these years he also worked with Chaka Khan, Des'ree, Mica Paris, Carleen Anderson, Manu Katché, Phil Collins, and Peter Gabriel In 2013 after twelve years of touring as a session musician he reestablished himself as a solo artist and soon after, released the album Anything But Look on Lyte Records featuring Will Downing, Omar, Joy Rose, Jacob Collier, Tim Garland and Pino Palladino. He teaches music at Guildhall School of Music and Bath Spa University and additionally composes music for the London-based production music library, Audio Network.
