A Life Worthy of the Gospel (Philippians 1:27-30) by Harvest Church
Philippians
The Gospel Should Form our Relationships and Prayer Life
Having opened his letter in a spirit of great joy and thanksgiving, thanking the Philippians for their partnership with him in the gospel, Paul now turns to exhortation. In verses 27 to 30 Paul calls to Philippians to stand firm and strive side-by-side, afraid of nothing in their opponents for the gospel of Christ. In this message, Pastor Rick Anderson explains verses 27 to 30 with an aim at showing what this looks like for the church today and where our empowerment for this comes from.

The talk from our morning service on 29th June 2025
Welcome to the Daily Disciple Podcast. As daily disciples, we seek to adore and follow Jesus, our teacher, into the abundant life that he offers. Because we find Jesus to be irresistible and fascinating and incredibly practical, we want to be students of his scripture. Today's episode is found in Philippians 1 "Worthy of the Gospel"
Philippians 1:27-30 NLT27 Above all, you must live as citizens of heaven, conducting yourselves in a manner worthy of the Good News about Christ. Then, whether I come and see you again or only hear about you, I will know that you are standing together with one spirit and one purpose, fighting together for the faith, which is the Good News. 28 Don't be intimidated in any way by your enemies. This will be a sign to them that they are going to be destroyed, but that you are going to be saved, even by God himself. 29 For you have been given not only the privilege of trusting in Christ but also the privilege of suffering for him. 30 We are in this struggle together. You have seen my struggle in the past, and you know that I am still in the midst of it. • • •1. The Sea of God's wrath satisfied by one man Family Discussion Questions: Where did God tell Jonah to go? Why did Jonah not want to do that? What did Jonah try to do instead? What happened to the storm when Jonah was thrown into the sea? How is Jonah different from Jesus? How is Jonah similar to Jesus? What evidence in the Bible is there that the account of Jonah is historical? How does Jonahs sleep serve as a warning to us? How does Christs sleep serve as a comfort to us? What can we learn from this account of pagans correcting a member of the covenant? What do the raging sea and the description of Ninevehs wickedness teach us about Gods wrath? How is the story of Jonah a dark background which highlights the glory of Christs willingness to come to earth to rescue us? Why will God not merely forget about sins but requires the cross for our salvation? How does this story parallel the first half of the Philippians 2 Gospel (Philippians 2:5-11)?

In the last paragraph the apostle Paul has described his joy in suffering. His joy came from knowing that the gospel was advancing through what he was experiencing. His joy also came from knowing that his faith was only being strengthened to bring about his spiritual deliverance. Paul spoke this way because for him to […] The post REWIND: Life Worthy of the Gospel (Philippians 1:27-2:2) appeared first on Biblical Truths from West Palm Beach church of Christ.

“God's Plan to Advance the Gospel” Philippians 1:12-18 July 7, 2024 Pastor Nathan Currey ----more---- Philippians 1:12 I want you to know, brothers, that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel, [13] so that it has become known throughout the whole imperial guard and to all the rest that my imprisonment is for Christ. [14] And most of the brothers, having become confident in the Lord by my imprisonment, are much more bold to speak the word without fear. [15] Some indeed preach Christ from envy and rivalry, but others from good will. [16] The latter do it out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel. [17] The former proclaim Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely but thinking to afflict me in my imprisonment. [18] What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed, and in that I rejoice. God's plan to advance the gospel must humble us and glorify Him. I. God's plan is more wise and powerful than man's plan II. God's plan is exciting and encouraging to others III. God's plan is accomplished despite mixed motives and methods
