WABC Host Curtis Sliwa joins Sid from our WABC Studios in Manhattan while Sid broadcasts live from Jerusalem, Israel, to give Sid an update on his oldest son Anthony and his husband-in-law former Governor David Paterson, after the weekend saw Anthony get beaten on the streets of NYC by a group of hoodlums before former Governor Paterson stepped in to body slam one of his assailants. Curtis then dives into the grotesque pro-Hamas, anti-Israel protests that took over New York City yesterday on the one-year mark of the brutal October 7th attacks on the people of Israel. Today we are joined by former Governor of New York, David Paterson. Governor Paterson is an American politician and member of the Democratic Party who was the 55th governor of New York, succeeding Eliot Spitzer and serving out nearly three years of Spitzer's term from March 2008 to the end of 2010 following Spitzer's resignation. Governor Paterson has made history as the first legally blind governor in the nation, and the first African American Governor of New York. I was most interested in having Governor Paterson on the show to discuss his time as governor of New York during the Great recession. He did not disappoint…His candor, storytelling, humor, and openness to technologies like Bitcoin made this one of my favorite conversations. It was also refreshing to hear from a Democratic politician who is open to bitcoin and the ideas it represents as a tool to utilize in the face of a system that, “clearly isn't working” in his words. As a community and thought-leader, George is always searching for other leaders that have experienced a spark moment in their lives that led them on the path to creating change. In Episode 309 of The Launchcast the LaunchDad interviews Janice Lintz, a person that changed hearing access in the US, disrupted the hearing aid market and now, along with her organization Hearing Access & Innovations, is working on global best practices. What you may not know is that this guest was booked on the show because of George's growing passion for hearing access advocacy due to his second daughter's hearing disability. This one gets personal and it's a must listen. Hosted by entrepreneur and keynote/TEDx speaker George Andriopoulos. Follow @launchpadceo on Clubhouse, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Visit Janice Lintz here: https://www.hearingaccess.com Follow Janice on: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/45959109052 LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/janicelintz/ More on Janice from the episode: She was a 2016 Aspen Institute Spotlight on Health Scholar, a member of the US Access Board's Rail and Passenger Vessel Committees, and a member of the NYS Interagency Council for the Deaf Deaf-Blind, Hard of Hearing committee where she was appointed twice by former Governor Paterson. In 2015, Mayor Bloomberg appointed her to the NYC Taxi of Tomorrow Committee. Chairman Martin of the FCC appointed her twice to the FCC's Consumer Advisory Committee. She approached Senator Warren about the hearing aid monopoly, who then introduced and passed an Over-The-Counter Hearing Aid bill with Senator Grassley. President Biden just signed an Executive Order to expedite standards to implement the law. Janice's articles appeared in Forbes, Huff Post, and Thrive Global. In addition, the New York Times, People, Redbook, Fast Company, Consumer Reports, The Washington Post, Scientific American are some of the many publications quoting her. The marijuana that is available today is way more potent than anything you would have toked in the 60' or 70's and former Governor David Paterson agrees. Governor Paterson is just one of the 5 guests that joined the program today. Arthur Aidala, Alan Dershowitz, Bernard Kerik, and Lauren Conlin all appeared with Bernie and Sid this morning to disucss a litany of topics. Plus, a BLM activist is arrested for his role in storming the Capitol last week, Andrew Cuomo continues to complain that New York isn't getting enough money from the federal government to fund projects in New York City (which everyone is leaving), and the New York Jets hire a new head coach who happens to look eerily similar to Sid.
In this weeks episode of 7 Questions I sit down with Governor David Alexander Paterson. Governor Paterson is an American politician who served as the 55th Governor of New York, succeeding Eliot Spitzer and serving out the final three years of Spitzer's term from March 2008 to the end of 2010. He is the first African American to hold that position and the second legally blind U.S. Governor of any state after Bob C. Riley, who was Acting Governor of Arkansas for 11 days in January 1975. Since leaving office, Paterson has been a radio talk show host on station WOR in New York City, and was in 2014 appointed chairman of the New York Democratic Party by his successor as governor, Andrew Cuomo. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/7questions/support
