Good afternoon, I'm _____ with today's episode of EZ News. Tai-Ex opening The Tai-Ex opened up 135-points this morning from yesterday's close, at 24,235 on turnover of $8.1-billion N-T. Shares in Taiwan closed moderately higher Wednesday as large-cap tech stocks stayed resilient, helping the broader market recoup earlier losses and shrug off overnight declines on Wall Street following a spike in U.S. Treasury yields. But analysts say the local index still stayed in consolidation, with turnover reduced as investors await more economic data for clues about how the U.S. Federal Reserve will implement a rate cut cycle. Visitors to Taiwan up 10% in 1st half of year The Tourism Administration says, total visitors to Taiwan in the first half of the year saw a 10% increase from the same period last year. Most visitors to Taiwan are Japanese people, with over 680,000 Japanese tourists coming to Taiwan in this period, accounting for (佔有、構成) over 16% of all visitors. Visitors from Hong Kong and Macau make up nearly 15%, while about 13% are from South Korea. Next up, about 9% are from the US, 7% from the Philippines, and 7% from China. In June, Taiwan received over 606,000 visitors, marking a 6% rise from in 2024. In particular Japanese visitors in june increased by 22%, while Chinese visitors increased by nearly 50%… many of whom came through the Mini Three Links connecting Kinmen and Matsu. The Administration says, it's holding overseas campaigns to boost visitors numbers in the fourth quarter of the year, which is usually the peak season for travelers to visit Taiwan. (AH) Portugal Street Car Derail Leaves Dead and Injured Portuguese emergency services say an electric streetcar that is one of Lisbon's big tourist attractions has derailed, killing 15 people and injuring 18 others. Emergency response officials said five of the injured are in serious condition and a child is among the injured. It said an unknown number of the injured are foreigners. The yellow-and-white streetcar, which goes up and down a steep downtown hill in tandem with (與……同時) one going the opposite way, was lying on its side on the narrow road after Wednesday's accident. Eyewitnesses said the streetcar careened down the hill, apparently out of control. The City Council suspended operations of other streetcars in Lisbon and ordered immediate inspections. US Over 1000 CDC Workers Demand RFK Jr Resignation More than 1,000 current and former employees of the US Department of Health and Human Services are demanding the resignation (辭職) of Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. In a letter they claim RFK Jr's leadership has "put the health of all Americans at risk,". Kate fisher reports from Washington Argentina LongLost Painting Recovered An Argentine federal court has announced the recovery of the long-lost “Portrait of a Lady,” an 18th-century painting by Giuseppe Ghislandi. The Nazis looted the artwork during World War II. The painting, not seen publicly for 80 years, surfaced in an online real estate listing last month. Dutch journalists discovered it while investigating Friedrich Kadgien, the Nazi officer accused of stealing it. Authorities have detained Kadgien's daughter and her husband on charges of concealment (隱瞞) and obstruction of justice. The painting is now stored in a special chamber to prevent damage.
More than 25 years after his tragic death, John F. Kennedy Jr. remains one of the most captivating figures in American public life. He was handsome, charming, and born into political royalty — and when he died in a plane crash in 1999, he was fighting to save George, his glossy political magazine, and weighing a run for New York governor. Ryan Murphy is producing American Love Story, a new series about John and his wife Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy; some QAnon conspiracy theorists believe JFK Jr. is still alive; and CNN has just released the first episode of a three-part documentary series called American Prince: JFK. Jr. So why can't we look away? Why are John and Carolyn still objects of fascination, speculation, and even conspiracy? What does our continued obsession say about us — and about American political culture? Kara talks to Gary Ginsberg and Carole Radziwill, two close friends of John and Carolyn who are featured in American Prince. series. They both bring a lifetime of experience working in media, and reflect on the lives behind the legend, the media scrutiny that shaped their legacy, and how myth and reality collided in the story of John and Carolyn. Ginsberg met John at Brown University, and he was the senior editor and legal counsel at George magazine. Ginsberg went on to become an assistant counsel to President Clinton and a senior executive at News Corp and Time Warner. He understands the inner workings of media and politics as well as anyone. He was also a consulting producer on American Prince and the author of First Friends: The Powerful, Unsung (And Unelected) People Who Shaped Our Presidents. Radziwill is a former journalist. Her work at ABC News won a Peabody and multiple Emmys. She's also a former cast member of the Real Housewives of New York and her late husband, Anthony Radziwill, was JFK Jr.'s cousin and best friend. Radziwill is the author of three books, including the bestselling memoir, What Remains, and she recently launched a newsletter on Substack, Life with Carole Radziwill. Questions? Comments?

What are the problems facing academic journals today? What changes to the system could be made to address them? So even something as fraught as whether sex is binary, I think at least in the past, that's something you could tackle as a journalist without taking sides, but just adding clarity and adding context and saying, you know, these people disagree because they have different values and they want to use different language. They're interpreting things differently. But there are certain aspects of biology that everybody agrees on.Rethinking failure in science10:08: People have to rethink the meaning of failure. If you have a hypothesis that's kind of a long shot, and you test it, and you do a really good experiment, and you find out the hypothesis didn't hold up, well, you've tested that. Maybe that's something you can rule out. That should be an acceptable, perfectly normal part of science. It's not a failure per se. It's just that sometimes you have to rule something out that's a long shot.On the confidence trap of AI49:01: One of the hazards of AI is that people—it's so confident—it answers questions with so much confidence, and it sounds so smart that people just assume it's right. And it's often not right. People call them hallucinations, but it can just be, with some subtle thing in your prompt, right? I think there is going to be a period where people are seduced into believing AI because it can be so incredibly smart, and it makes these statements with so much confidence. But a lot of it—there is this kind of chaos to it. Little changes in the prompt will completely change the answer.

Two years ago, Robert Fitzgerald Kennedy (RFK) was running for president of the United States. He graciously agreed to be the opening keynote speaker on the first night of the Mile High Weekend. Born to a political family, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. is the nephew of America's 35th President, John F. Kennedy, and the son of his Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy. Both of them lost their lives to the assassin's bullet: JFK in 1963, and RFK, Sr. in the midst of his 1968 Presidential campaign. Rather than enter politics himself, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. carried on his family's legacy of public service by devoting himself to environmental causes and children's welfare. Kennedy has enjoyed legal victories in many milestone environmental battles over the past four decades in Latin America, Canada, and the United States. Kennedy is also an award-winning writer whose articles have appeared many newspapers and magazines. Among his published books are two New York Times' bestsellers: “Crimes Against Nature” (2005) and “The Real Anthony Fauci” (2021). He was born on January 17, 1954, in Washington, DC, and is the third of 11 children of the late Sen. Robert Kennedy and Ethel Kennedy, who recently celebrated her 95th birthday. He's married to Cheryl Hines, a noted actress. The couple has seven children, including Kennedy's six children from two previous marriages. RFK is a supporter of chiropractic and of changing the paradigm of health care in America, particularly when it comes to stopping the use of vaccines and other pharmaceuticals that are causing harm rather than health in this country. He withdrew from the 2024 presidential race and gave his support to his opponent. If his opponent is elected, RFK will likely be appointed as a cabinet member to oversee a transition in America to natural health for children and adults, which will include moving to chiropractic care and other safe, healthy processes. Amos Kennedy, self-described “humble negro printer” and author of Citizen Printer, is a visionary treasure, an imaginative freedom-fighter, and the creator of type-driven messages of justice, freedom, and Black Power. He understands that freedom comes to life in action, and that we are most truly (and paradoxically) free when we name the obstacles to our humanity, and then throw ourselves against the imposing wall of unfreedom. His weapon of choice, the sledgehammer with which he bangs away day by day, is letterpress printing, and every image he brings to life urges voyages—wobbly rambles away from the cold reality of the world we inhabit into worlds that could be or should be but are not yet. Join Bill Ayers and Amos Kennedy “under the tree”—in this case, amidst the unique randomness and studied messiness of his Detroit studio, seated on folding chairs between presses and with stacks of paper and trays of type as far as the eye can see—as we dance the dialectic, discussing history and the future, politics and resistance, inspiration and aspiration, justice and freedom. With presidential debates set to take place in June and September, months earlier than the normal October debates, third-party candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is hustling to get on ballots across the nation in order to qualify for the stage. CNN has said that they would host Kennedy Jr. for their June 27 debate if he hit benchmarks in polling, but his campaign has been critical of the difficulty of getting on some states' ballots. Communication Director for the Robert F. Kennedy Jr. campaign, Del Bigtree, joins the Rundown to discuss the roadblocks they've encountered in gaining ballot access, how RFK Jr.'s presence on the debate stage could impact the election, and the larger goals of his campaign. Several schools nationwide have implemented cell phone bans, restricting students' access to their devices throughout the day. The goal is to prevent screen time from interrupting class time by locking the technology in a specialized magnetic pouch. Districts in 41 states have implemented the program, including Illing Middle School in Manchester, Connecticut. Idelisa Torres, Illing's principal, joins the podcast to discuss the school's decision and how it has benefited their students. Plus, commentary from the host of OutKick's Tomi Lahren is Fearless, Tomi Lahren. Photo Credit: AP Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
