Myanmar's junta finally provides signs of life for its former leader Aung San Suu Kyi - but why now and what does it all mean for the ongoing civil war? Plus, Ceuta's border crisis reignites immigration divisions in Europe. And, how a US hiker who got himself into – and out of – a sticky situation.
Around 60,000 migrants swam around the border from Morocco into Ceuta, part of Spain. Spanish officials said almost all those who reached the enclave have now returned, but at least 72 migrants died attempting the journey. Many EU leaders called for an urgent meeting, asking for the end of policies that could encourage illegal migration. But Spain says the problems in Ceuta are not caused by its immigration policies, and that Ceuta is not part of mainland Spain, so there was never a security threat to other EU countries. The European Union's migration chief is commending Spain's handling of the Cueta crisis. This, after reignited debate over the bloc's migration policy - following the mass crossing of migrants from Morocco into Spain's north African city last week. Spanish authorities say around 72,000 people crossed to Cueta, with 70,000 since returned to Morocco. But calls for tougher action against migrant smuggling networks remain.
Ireland's Presidency of the Council of the European Union has brought migration to the top of the agenda, following an emergency meeting of EU justice and interior ministers over the recent migrant crisis in the Spanish enclave of Ceuta. Why are hard right politicians now flocking to the tiny Spanish enclave of Ceuta off the coast of Morocco? And why is Europe so spooked? After tens of thousands of migrants flocked to this northern corner of Africa, the EU has gone into emergency mode - nearly a hundred people died or drowned in an attempt to enter Spain through Ceuta. Italy has suspended free movement with Spain for a month. Other countries are suggesting they might follow suit. The government in Madrid is on the EU's naughty step - could it cause a bigger rupture?Later, MAGA cheerleader turned Trump-appointee Jeanine Pirro is facing the wrath of the President after dropping vandalism charges relating to the Reflecting Pool that has become his obsession. Recording one more before starting a new job Monday, Ghost packs this episode with a full week's worth of chaos. It opens with a Bannon War Room clip on the migrant surge into Ceuta, the tiny Spanish enclave in Morocco, and how Italy's Giorgia Meloni is now threatening to suspend Spain from the Schengen zone over it. Ghost digs into why Spain has historically been less loyal to Israel than the rest of Europe, then wades into the online firestorm over a resurfaced Yair Netanyahu tweet and clips of Charlie Kirk and Tucker Carlson discussing Jewish donor funding of open border politics. From there it's Laura Loomer's increasingly cartoonish pro Ukraine media blitz, including an interview with the founder of the Azov Battalion, some reflections on Lindsey Graham's funeral, and a deadly bombing at a Moscow restaurant that reportedly killed two Russian generals. A sprawling, unfiltered catch up episode.
Tune in here to this Monday's edition of the Brett Winterble Show! Brett kicks off the program by talking about Spain's migrant crisis and disputed claims that thousands of migrants who entered the Spanish enclave of Ceuta have already returned to Morocco. He questions official accounts that the situation is under control, arguing that the scale of the migrant influx presents long-term challenges for Spanish authorities and local communities. Brett also discusses reports of unrest, including clashes between migrants and residents and allegations of vandalism at local cemeteries, while expressing skepticism that many of the migrants will voluntarily leave after making the journey. Tune in here to this Friday’s edition of the Brett Winterble Show! Brett kicks off the program with Pete Kaliner for this edition of The Hangover as they discuss the growing migrant crisis in Spain and what Brett believes it reveals about the importance of national sovereignty and border security. Brett reflects on his upbringing near the U.S.-Mexico border, arguing that a nation's sovereignty depends on controlling who enters, who remains, and under what conditions. He contrasts Europe's immigration challenges with current U.S. border enforcement, contending that strong policies and consistent consequences are essential to maintaining national security. Later Brett discusses the TSA's decision to allow travelers to bring hammocks through airport security, questioning whether the unusual travel trend is practical or simply an invitation for chaos in already crowded airport terminals. Reacting to reports of passengers hanging hammocks during long layovers, Brett shares humorous concerns about safety, cleanliness, and airport etiquette, imagining travelers falling from suspended hammocks or cluttering terminals with shoes and personal belongings. ‘I predicted it would lead to an invasion, I was demonised for daring to say the word, but I would suggest 180,000 people later, perhaps I was right!'Nigel Farage reacts to Keir Starmer's ‘Farage boat' comments blaming Brexit for the small boat crisis. He brags about his “one in, one out” plan after finally shipping ONE migrant back to France — leaving hundreds of thousands still pouring in! TRUMP schooled STARMER on Wind farms, Putin, Free Speech, Palestine Status and Drill Baby Drill. Starmer froze like a rabbit in the headlights when grilled on Free Speech, dodging claims of 12,000 arrests over social media posts last year. And when the Mandelson questions came… panic mode! How long can Starmer duck the real issues of mass migration and free speech crackdowns? Biggest question is Why can't we have a tough leader like Trump who puts our country first? Shocking sex attacks — Epping protests right! DEPORT HIM. #BellHotel #Epping #MigrantVerdict #SexAttacks #ParentsProtests #Deportation #JonGaunt Breaking news from Epping: Hadush Gerberslasie Kebatu, an asylum seeker who arrived illegally in the UK by small boat and was housed at the Bell Hotel, has been found guilty of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl and a woman — just eight days after landing in the country! This shocking case was the catalyst for furious protests by local mums demanding action and answers. Today's guilty verdict proves their concerns were completely justified. With sentencing set for September 23, pressure is mounting for immediate deportation and for serious questions to be answered about how this was allowed to happen Join Jon Gaunt as he covers the court verdict, the parents' protests, and the political fallout from a case that has rocked the community — and the nation. We're in it! Sam and Dylan break down Zohran bench pressing, a Scottish girl armed with knives and an axe, raising questions about crime, justice, and how society deals with people on the edge. From there, the conversation spirals into real-life chaos like fights breaking out on the subway, vigilantes taking matters into their own hands, and whether mob justice is becoming the new normal in a broken system The crew dives into conspiracies and hidden history, asking whether dinosaurs were actually giants or Nephilim, and how much of what we've been taught about the past could be a cover-up. We jump into science talk too, with CERN, particle physics, and the wild idea that massive experiments could bring us closer to “finding God” It's part comedy, part conspiracy, and part late-night chaos. Pop culture isn't safe either. We hit on everything from Miley Cyrus's crazy performances to how mainstream media censors voices, including why platforms are still messing with the Joe Rogan Experience Along the way, there are rants, subway stories, and a whole lot of unfiltered banter that makes the Deep Waters podcast exactly what it is — raw, messy, hilarious, and thought-provoking all at once. If you like conspiracies, alternative history, dystopian vibes, uncensored comedy, and wild tangents that somehow tie it all together, this episode is for you. For Assignment, Nick Thorpe speaks to two of the people smugglers who are now serving life sentences in a Bulgarian prison. He visits a man in northern Iraq who lost his younger brother and two children aboard the truck and asks the police in Hungary if they could have acted sooner. This episode of The Documentary comes to you from Assignment, investigations and journeys into the heart of global events.
