Britain's biggest car factory is surrounded by wind turbines, solar panels and nature. At Nissan's Sunderland plant, the Japanese car maker says that cutting-edge engineering is meeting a growing commitment to sustainability and decarbonization. Since installing its first wind turbines in 2005, Nissan has steadily increased its reliance on renewable energy. Taking center stage are ten wind turbines and over 37,000 solar panels, which generate 20% of the plant's electricity needs. And now, the Japanese carmaker has completed the development of a new rewilding project to improve biodiversity in surrounding marshlands. These initiatives form part of Nissan's EV36Zero blueprint, an ambitious £3 billion project combining electric vehicle production, renewable energy, and next-generation battery technology. The goal is to eventually create a hub for sustainable automotive manufacturing. The rewilding project, completed in just over a year in partnership with Atrato Partners, has turned marshland into a biodiversity haven. Invasive shrubs were removed, habitats revitalized, and a viewing hide was built for monitoring wildlife. Animals spotted here include badgers, deer, water voles, and breeding birds of prey, such as kestrels and buzzards. Plant species like bee orchids and cowslips are also thriving. Andy Barker, Infrastructure Manager at Nissan, is hopeful the project will encourage other automotive manufacturers to follow suit in wider industrial sustainability efforts. Barker says, “We knew that the land was basically unutilized, so this is basically our plan to regenerate that. The urban regeneration is something that is really active in the UK at the moment, and we've seen the ideal opportunity to participate in that. So, we'd like to think, yes, we can be a leader for other automotive manufacturers or industry leaders to follow.” Tim Pollard, Group Editorial Director, Bauer Media thinks the company's environmental ambitions are a welcome start to its decarbonization plans. Pollard says, “And I think the rewilding projects underline Nissan's commitment to sustainability. This is the company, one of the biggest carmakers in the world, who is basically on a journey towards decarbonizing totally by 2050.” This article was provided by The Associated Press.
LIFE Elder, Andy Barker, picks up the Follow Me series in the book of Mark with a sermon based out of Mark 9:14-37.
We file Andy Barker with the IRS, expecting nothing in return.
We have no guest this week, but Andy Barker, PI more than makes up for that.
Natalie Wass, aka The Bunheads Broker, is with us for Andy Barker, PI, of all things. But maybe not so secretly she's really here to talk about Andy Richter's other one season show, Quintuplets.
Hilary Woodward is back to watch Andy Barker, PI for the second time, even if she doesn't remember that. Derick might not remember either and he watched it for the first time twenty minutes ago. Wig jokes and chicken puns just aren't be enough.
Harry Nelson is here to dive too deep into Andy Barker, P.I., hit our heads, and make us (Derick) think maybe this is a funny show after all.
Season 8 begins with a mystery: Why are we watching another show created by Jonathan Groff??? Andy Barker, P.I. was a 2007 midseason replacement vehicle starring Andy Richter and Tony Hale and you can't watch it anywhere because even Peacock has chosen Father Of The Pride over it. Brian Sadecki is with us to try and find where all the jokes went.
In this episode you can hear my friend Andy Barker's Presentation that he made at the Community of Human and Organisational Learning Conference back in June, in Las Vegas.
Tony Hale joins Andy Richter to discuss his role in “Inside Out 2,” moving to Los Angeles for “Arrested Development,” learning to be present, the difficulty of sending his kid off to college, working together on “Andy Barker, P.I.,” the importance of faith, and his new Netflix show, “The Decameron.”Do you want to talk to Andy live on SiriusXM's Conan O'Brien Radio? Another Conan O'Brien related alumni to detail this week, Paul returns with me to note how ahead of the curve both of Andy Richter's sitcoms (which aried on FOX and NBC respectively) truly were. We also note how some of the writers on this went onto bigger material including Mad Men and Black-ish while also praising the supporting casts which included: Nicole Randall Johnson (MAD TV, Role Models), Paget Brewster (Criminal Minds, Community), Tony Hale (Arrested Development, Chuck), Marshall Manesh (How I Met Your Mother, Hidalgo), Harve Presnell (The Pretender), James Patrick Stuart (Galactica 1980, The Penguins of Madagascar) and many more! We found him! The man who came up with Bob Loblaw's law blog on Arrested Development. Had to be a Canadian, right? Chuck Tatham, from Listowel in southwestern Ontario, has had a stellar career in Canada and the U.S., writing and producing such shows as Less Than Kind, Arrested Development, How I Met Your Mother and Modern Family.Lately he's been executive producing Children Ruin Everything and the animated series Central Park. He was also previously involved in a couple of fondly-remembered one-season wonders: Andy Barker, P.I. and Back to You. Hear him on how one show led to another, as well as on a new project which brought him back across the border again: "Offside: The Harold Ballard Story." Yes, this is Part II of a podcast from earlier this week featuring Tatham's fellow EP's, Michael Geddes and Jason Priestley. Tatham still hopes to spin Ballard's outrageous adventures into a series based on his pilot script. Paging John Goodman in the lead, I say. In the meantime, enjoy story after story from this talented and very funny Canadian writer-producer -- including the daytime show he most loved to watch as a child whenever he managed to stay home sick from school.

On this episode of our Safety View Andy Barker, Rosa Antonia Carrillo and Tamara Parris host our discussion about building a business case for Safety, Health and Employee Wellbeing. In this Part II with Andy Barker, we get the full story on Andy's father's medical emergency, right down to what exactly was happening with him, how close he was to death and how he was able to make a recovery thanks in much part to a strong connection with his son and family. We also talk about the final process of retiring from the Navy as well as get into his experiences with PTSD and what his KB1 Foundation is all about. It's a little bit serious but with no shortage of fun. Due to some technical glitches during the initial recording, this episode is made of take number 2 of one loooooong conversation with Andy but a very good one. Proud of his openness and honesty, and happy for having him on the show. More about Andy below, in case you forgot! Andy Barker is coming up on a nearly 30 year career in the U.S. Navy and is trained as an Emergency Room Registered Nurse. He has seen, done and heard about more things than many people could think of. He's been stationed in Japan, he was on the USNS Mercy during the first Gulf War, Global War on Terror and Operation Enduring Freedom Philippines, and there he's responsible for a large team that report directly to him, and he will go to bat for anyone on his team. Andy Barker is a family man who has and always will be there for his family. He has been by his father's side during illness and seen him making a recovery, up to the point of just before we recorded this podcast episode. He is based in Virginia but we spoke while he was in St. Louis with his parents after his father returned home from hospital. Andy Barker is a fellow podcaster, and you can find links to his shows below here in the show notes. I still say after our chats, I think I taught him a thing or two about podcasting (what 'not' to do, ahem cough cough). Andy Barker has a strong opinion and is proud of his work in the Navy. You will hear some strong opinions in this episode. Both he and I would welcome your feedback on anything discussed in this off the hook Part I of one more to come podcast with...Andy Barker!
