This skill is on full display in his graphic novel ‘HyperParanøid: An Ascension Story.' ‘The Hidden Hand; Alien Contact and the Government Cover-up' explores the phenomena of Alien Contact, has won 5 awards and is distributed internationally. He has also shot many feature films that were screened in festivals and theaters worldwide: (Sundance, Cannes, Berlin, and Toronto film festivals.) Five films he shot were shown at the MoMA retrospective of Bruce LaBruce. He shot 10 films about sexual criminals for Shu Lea Cheang's ‘3x3x6.' They were the centerpiece of the Taiwan Pavilion at the 2019 Venice Biennale. In 2023, he produced his most recent short, 'Bitter Brownies', which has won over 100 awards and he has just won an award for the feature, ‘Set Me Free.' In creating HyperParanoid, James made use of all of his skills as an award-winning director and script writer together with Jaf Farkas, who brought James' vision to life. Together they wove a futuristic, dystopian sci-fi tale rich in love, cruelty and magic, “a stark interpretation of the world we already live in,” which uniquely mixes humor, prophetic story telling, and music. As a composer, James is known to burst into song around his close friends – sometimes he'a encouraged to stay and sing, and at other times, he's excused from the premises. His uplifting and quirky humor shines through the inventive, archetypal and creative playground of HyperParanøid.

December 7, 2025 Daily Devotional: “Trusting the Hidden Hand”John 13:7 Jesus answered him, "What I am doing you do not understand now, but afterward you will understand." This is Jesus' gentle, yet profound, response to Peter when Peter objects to Jesus washing his feet. Peter, looking at the scene, only saw a master performing a servant's task which was a reversal of roles that he found unacceptable andconfusing. But Jesus assures him that the full meaning, the deeper purpose, is not for Peter to grasp in that moment. He promised a future clarity, "afterward you will understand." How often do we act like Peter? We look at confusing, painful, or frustrating circumstances in our lives. A delayed answer to prayer, an unexpected setback, a season of waiting and we try to apply our limited human logic to God's sovereign plan. We question, we object, and we struggle because the immediatepicture doesn't make sense. Jesus' words to Peter are his words to us today. There are actions God is taking in our lives behind the scenes, in the mundane, or in the catastrophic that we simply cannot comprehend in the present. They are pieces of a vast, divinemosaic that only the Master Artist can see in its entirety. Our peace comes not from understanding the why right now, but from trusting the Who. The one doing the work is the same Christ who loves us perfectly and gave his life for us. Today, recognize the areas of your life where you are demanding an explanation from God. Is it a challenging relationship? A job loss? A health struggle? The challenge is to surrender your need for immediate clarity and embrace the truth that God's timing is perfect, and His perspective is complete. Trust that the "afterward" will reveal His wisdom and love. Every time the frustration returns, repeat the verse and consciously choose to place the situation in God's hands.

Things are happening behind the scenes in human history. God's at work, but often, in the moment, it doesn't look that way. But rest assured, he's expertly arranging his story to work out just as he planned. And one day, there's going to be a giant Aha moment, and it's going to become very clear. Esther reminds us of this in this amazing little book. God's name is never mentioned, and yet his hand is seen in every word and every line. And when we look at it from the end, when we see it from its conclusion, it becomes so obvious to us. Then it's one giant, massive Aha. Of course, look how God was arranging things. Look how he was scheduling things just so. It's not just true in Esther's life—our lives are like that, too. It may not be so obvious in the moment, but in the end, when our life and story conclude, we will see that he was there the whole time. We will have that Aha moment. We will see and we will know, and we will be known. So it is in human history itself. When it concludes, we will see that God was at work through it all. It will be like no other Aha moment the world has ever known when we see the kingdom of God fully arrived. Until then, we can live with that Aha moment in mind. That's what living by faith is. It's trusting in God, even when it doesn't seem like he's here and it's not obvious that he's at work. That's why we come to the Word of God every day. Esther and the prophets are reminding us that there is an Aha coming. If we pay close attention and we look at the Word carefully, we can see glimpses of what he's up to. Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen. It gives us assurance about things we cannot see. God is at work. His hand is all over your story, right there in the thick of it. It's hard to see sometimes, hard to recognize most times. But at the story's conclusion, it's one giant Aha. Of course, God, you are with me all the time. You never let me go. Live with this perspective today—that there's an Aha coming. Hold closely to the Word, to the living Word. Let it drive you to the living Word until that day comes. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, my daughters, my son. And that's a prayer that I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity.
