Nearly twelve years after the Thanksgiving 1985 bombing at Hilltop Mobile Home Park, investigators received a tip that shifted their attention to Michael Roy Toney, a 31-year-old man with a lengthy criminal history. After a five-month investigation and grand jury proceedings, Toney was indicted for the bombing deaths of Joe Blount, his 15-year-old daughter Angela Blount, and his 18-year-old nephew Michael Columbus.Toney's capital murder trial began in early May 1999 in Fort Worth. Susan and Robert Blount testified and nearly 80 pieces of physical evidence recovered from the destroyed trailer and the victims were presented. Prosecutors argued that the Blount family had not been the intended target and that Toney had mistakenly placed the briefcase bomb outside the wrong trailer. The prosecution's case relied heavily on testimony from Toney's former wife and estranged friend, who both testified that they accompanied Toney to a business beside Hilltop Mobile Home Park on Thanksgiving Day 1985 and that Toney carried a briefcase away from his truck and returned without it. The defense challenged both accounts and emphasized that there was no physical evidence presented at trial connecting Toney to the bomb. They also returned attention to former Hilltop resident Mikey Huff, who had been investigated repeatedly over the years. On May 20, 1999, after approximately four hours of deliberation, the jury found Michael Roy Toney guilty of capital murder. During the punishment phase, more witnesses provided damning testimony against him.If you have any information about the murders of Joe and Angela Blount and Michael Columbus, please call the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives tipline at (888) 283-8477.You can support gone cold and listen to the show ad-free at patreon.com/gonecoldpodcastFind us at gonecold.com For Gone Cold merch, visit gonecold.dashery.comFollow gone cold on Facebook, Instagram, Threads, TikTok, YouTube, and X. Joe Rose and the crew break down the latest from Miami Hurricanes training camp, highlighting the impressive depth and talent across the roster as expectations continue to rise. The guys discuss why second-year wide receiver Malachi Toney has all the makings of a future star, pointing to his relentless work ethic after showing up at 5 a.m. for extra reps before practice. Joe also shares why offensive tackle Ben Congdon has caught his attention early in camp, before reflecting on last season's roller-coaster journey—from a blazing start, through a few tough losses, to an unforgettable finish with a run to the national championship—and what it means for the Hurricanes entering this season.
On this episode of the JT Sports Podcast, JT breaks down why Miami's recruiting momentum has become a movement led by Malachi Toney, explains how Curt Cignetti exposed the SEC's scheduling hypocrisy, and debates Florida's biggest offseason decision in its quarterback battle between Aaron Philo and Tramell Jones. JT also explains why Alabama's elite secondary gives the Crimson Tide another College Football Playoff ceiling, why Georgia's physical offense is built to bully opponents on another national title run, and predicts Clemson will shock LSU in one of Week 1's biggest matchups. All that plus SEC recruiting, quarterback battles, playoff contenders, national championship expectations, and the biggest storylines shaping the 2026 college football season.
The Radio Voice of the Miami Hurricanes stops by the show to preview the highly anticipated Canes season as we approach the start of the regular season.

Dr. Judy Toney is a functional medicine provider in Boulder, Colorado, and the founder of atoneMD. She came into functional medicine through hormone therapy about 12 years ago, then shifted her focus toward autoimmune conditions, environmental exposures, and detoxification after living through complex chronic illness herself. She is also a lifelong runner and has been rock climbing for the better part of 20 to 30 years. In this conversation she walks through a morning routine built around a forced hour of waiting, and why she uses that hour for quiet breathing instead of rushing. She explains her version of Bulletproof coffee with ghee and coconut oil, where the gut actually starts (hint: much higher than you think), and the foods she keeps coming back to for gut health. She also gets honest about the overwhelm of endless health advice, including the fact that even the experts contradict each other, and how she narrows it down to something a person can actually live with.Judy also opens up the business side. She left a large corporation because she was tired of being told how to practice, and she talks candidly about the freedom that came with it and the weight that came with it too. Plus the one thing she would do differently if she started over, and her number one habit that has carried her through every part of her life.Take the ideas from this show and put them to work. Only a few episodes left before we get to talking about real football as the Miami Hurricanes start fall camp on 9/4/2026. We start this show with the reason why Malachi Toney wasn't on the ballot for ACC Preseason Player of the Year. Then, we move on to Bryce Fitzgerald moving positions, which seems to bother Canes fans but doesn't bother us. Some are saying this defense could not possibly be as good as last year's squad with Bain and Messidor and Scott gone, but Cam explains that the sum of the parts that are there should make you feel confident about Coach Heatherman's bunch. In segment two we take shots at the all mighty SEC. Whether it's their belief that they could exist on their own, or their false sense of superiority, we have had enough with that conference. Also, we think there's too much hype surrounding CJ Carr and Arch Manning. This episode is packed! Don't forget to check out Cam and his staff's great work at StateOfTheU.com. Bob and James go back to the early days in Michigan when a young boy who loved football and boxing was growing up and doing both with great skill. On this edition of the ROCPOD, Cam and The Beast start out the show by discussing the amazing job that Mario Cristobal and his staff are doing in securing the 2027 Miami Hurricanes' recruiting class. They could have the most five-star players of any Canes recruiting class ever when it's all said and done. Malachi Toney is on the cover of College Football 27. It's an amazing honor for the kid who's just getting to his sophomore season. Miami's Baseball season ended in embarrassing fashion, giving up over 30 runs in 24 hours. There needs to be a change in direction and vision for the baseball program in Coral Gables. Go check out the great work of Cam and his staff at StateOfTheU. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Hour 3 begins with news that the Lions have hired former Dolphins GM Chris Grier in an organizational role, with Joe Rose noting the likely connection between Grier and Lions head coach Dan Campbell from their time together in Miami. The conversation then shifts to the NBA Finals as the Knicks and Spurs prepare for Game 1, with discussion around Jalen Brunson and Victor Wembanyama leading their respective teams and how this matchup features far less flopping than earlier playoff series. Alex Donno joins to break down Miami Hurricanes football, including major recruiting battles for five-star edge rusher Jaiden Bryant and top linebacker Kaden Henderson, as well as concerns about offseason hype, quarterback development, and whether Miami can finally build a long-term QB from within the program. Donno also weighs in on the Canes' Athletic Director search, struggles for programs like Florida State and North Carolina in recruiting, and the changing landscape of college sports under NIL. The hour also touches on the Marlins' inconsistency, Malachi Toney appearing on the cover of the new college football video game, Dante Moore returning to Oregon instead of entering the NFL Draft, and comments from a former Dolphins player criticizing ex-GM Jeff Ireland.
