In this episode, Jo & Vicky are joined by Hannah Molloy to talk about how to find your purpose and why character development is important for growing your business. Hannah is a qualified animal behaviourist who with her team has trained 10,000 dogs in 10 years and featured in the TV show Puppy School. Today, she is a government advisor, author, and the creator of a dog body language qualification. Hannah shares how she built her business and the role that grace, manifestation, her faith and giving back have played in her life and success. KEY TAKEAWAYS Take a step back and think about character development – Get a mentor. Hannah´s purpose is to train as many people as possible to understand dog body language. With the aim of improving how people treat dogs. All of Hannah´s successes have come about from being brave and saying yes then showing up and giving her best. You can have the most successful business in the world, but if you have not been working on your character you will experience burn-out. When you run a big business regularly remind yourself of why you are doing it. You have to work on being good with people as well as dogs. Do not be afraid to charge enough. Collaborate with other trainers. Writing a book, automatically gives you authority and when it sells well it becomes an asset that earns you money without you doing more work. BEST MOMENTS ‘For me, changing the world looks like people being kinder to their dogs. ´ ‘What you define as success, if you are growing, will continually shift.' ‘Use social media, don´t let social media use you.' The cost of living crisis is being felt nationwide, but nowhere more so than some of the charities set up to help those most in need. Just this week the disability not-for-profit "StarJam" which has been operating for 22 years said it was facing closure, however we've heard this afternoon their plea for help has been answered - they've managed to raise more than $130,000 dollars. However, not every charity is going to have the same success. Foodbank charity BBM, run by Dave Letele, had to cut 500 families from its free food parcel service. There are 27,000 registered charities in New Zealand and 17,000 of them fundraise for everything from food to support services Hannah Molloy, the Chair of the Fundraising Institute speaks to Susana Leiataua.

This week Anna is joined by Trainer and Behaviour consultant, Hannah Molloy. With a BSc in Animal Behaviour, she has written “What's Your Dog Thinking?', starred on Channel 4's Puppy School and most recently organised sessions at APDAWG on ‘Dog Bites'. We discuss how Hannah decided make dogs her main focus rather than working with horses or cats. She started her career working in the Birmingham area and over seven years trained over 10,000 dogs in group sessions and one to ones. We chat about why dog bite incidents are on the rise and whether it's directly related to the the pandemic, and the sudden surge in dog ownership, or whether it's a problem that's been brewing for sometime. Hannah believes since about 2003. Her aim is to guide people towards dogs that suit our modern lifestyles, ones that can adapt to apartment living, bred for temperament and health. She champions that greater responsibility needs to be taken, and an awareness of our Duty of Care as defined in the Animal Welfare Act, and refined as the Five Domains. We discuss over exaggerated features in breeds, which arguably has spear headed certain breeds huge popularity leading to dogs being sold online, which continues to boom, despite campaigning to stop puppy shopping on the internet.Follow on Instagram and TwitterIf you love A Dog's Life and would like to help support the show why not become a Patreon backer where you can also have access to some exclusive content.
