Happy Birthday Dad! Wishing my 84 year old father "good cheer" seems an appropriate place to start today... it being his birthday and all. Why, then, did I start this day's actual recording with a somewhat pathetic apology for the pile of hong kong phooey that ensues? Rather than paying recognition to the man who brought you into existence? Well... one factor might be how high I am. Ok. Obviously that could be a factor... possibly. And we know how forgetful I am. And how likely I am to lose my train of thought which makes me prone to derailing any thought at any time, even thoughts I was trying to complete as I'm completing them which immediately turns into a scramble of some verbal reactive dexterity in an attempt to save face coherently but having no recollection now where it all began and therefore why we're here... I simply wander around until I say something that sounds like it should have a period after it abruptly putting an end to my current chop suey conversational charade. And then we move on. After all, what the queen gets the queen wants. Eh LizzyBeth? NëiNsensiCaL Episode 27 of 53

Today is dad's birthday. He would have been 80, which is weird to say. He's been gone 3 years now. I miss so much, especially his laugh. It's also the day Jeremy proposed to me. He called my dad beforehand to ask for permission. Thankfully, dad said yes...and then so did I.My dad always carried a handkerchief so on the day I got married I gave him a handkerchief below.Dad passed away 2 days after my and Jeremy's 6th wedding anniversary. I now have that handkerchief as a reminder of his love for me and my love for him.Happy Birthday Dad - Love, Caryn

Welllll gawd damn the boys are back this week after celebrating their dad's birthdays. Daniel returns from his weekend getaway in big bear, and dealt with a health scare. Fredo talks about his dad's gift and favorite fishing spots. They talk alcohol preferences, ejaculating on the clock, staying in sketchy hotel rooms, farting female partners and the political gain game. Enjoy!
This is the story of how God gave me peace surrounding the loss of my dad. My purpose in this podcast is to share inspiring stories of all kinds, but I wanted to start with my dad to honor him on his birthday. We lost him 10 years ago and I miss him daily. Grief is awful. There's no other way to put it and we all deal with it differently. I also want to note that this is my own story from my prospective. I hope it doesn't cause pain for anyone else. If you are a believer in Christ with family that has passed and to your knowledge, didn't know Jesus, please know that I do too and I understand that pain. The comfort I have is that we may not know what God did in the last moments or even during their lives. We don't know but I trust that God's ways are higher than mine and He is good. If you don't have a peace about knowing Him and want to chat, please reach out to me at Instagram.com/Aiming Upward or amy_triplett.com

I'm writing this on April 7th, 2022 – what would have been my dad's 89th birthday. In the 5 years since Simon McGean retired his earthly body, a lot has changed in my life and in the world. But I can't help but think how much changed in his lifetime. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/wendy-mcgean/message
The 1970s saw the rise of rock and metal as a force in record and ticket sales. Right there at the birth of this was Black Sabbath, whose first album came from nowhere to smash into the top of the charts in Britain and around the world. “Black Sabbath in the 1970s” covers the career of the original foursome - Geezer Butler, Tony Iommi, Ozzy Osbourne and Bill Ward – from Polka Tulk, through Earth and their original nine years as Black Sabbath, when the band recorded such iconic albums as ‘Paranoid', ‘Sabbath Bloody Sabbath' and ‘Masters of Reality'. This book includes new interview material from key figures including Rick Wakeman and engineers Mike Butcher and Robin Black, among others. It's is a comprehensive roundup of the band's music in the decade. All of the albums and singles from “The Rebel” until “Never Say Die” are examined in detail, along with related archive releases. Also included is a section covering Black Sabbath's tours in the era, looking at key live recordings from every tour. Overall, this is the most comprehensive account of the fortunes in the band during this crucial decade yet written.Chris also gives us his theory behind the story of the song “Black Sabbath” and who that “figure in black” really is, tells the story of the time Tony Iommi gave him a ride home and a whole lot more about Black Sabbath!Chris Sutton has been a fan of Black Sabbath since the early 70s. He manages and has written several publications for Smethwick Heritage Centre Museum. He's also written several plays. “Black Sabbath In the 1970s” is his second book on music for Sonicbond Publishing, following on from “Alice Cooper in the 1970s”. You can listen to our interview with Chris about that book in episode 13 of Booked on Rock (https://www.spreaker.com/user/discoveryeric/chris-sutton-alice-cooper-in-the-1970s) Chris also writes for Power Play magazine and has contributed to a documentary on Alice Cooper. Yesterday, my dad would have been 98 years old. I don't know about you, but I learned a lot from my Dad. He did not share a lot of stories while he was alive. He had some very hard life lessons and frankly, for him, they were just life. I learned a lot more about my Dad after he passed away. I heard more stories from his friends and family. I wish I had known more because I know in my heart, I would have understood him better. But you, you have a chance to learn more about those around you. Everyone has a story, maybe it is time to ask and listen. Take time to listen, learn, and love even more. That lesson and many more in today's podcast which celebrates my Dad.
First, Happy Birthday Dad! And then I share about a tough dilemma where there's not one right answer.

We've got a special-edition, quest-mission coming at you today in honor of the day our father entered this world! And the quote we wish to celebrate our dad with comes from Captain James T. Kirk, in the original Star Trek series, who says, “Well, there's one thing you can be sure of, Mister, leave any bigotry in your quarters, there's no room for it on the bridge.” In this episode, we're discussing the symbolic meaning behind this Starship share, as we celebrate our dad's 64th birthday the Mentorship Quest way!
Who knows but I dare to dream what podcasts may be made of this…
