Send us a textIn this colorful episode, we kick things off with Noras play-by-play of an unforgettable night at Beyoncé's Renaissance Tour. The Queen Bey delivered a masterclass in performance art despite Mother Nature's obstacles. The concert stories lead us into an unexpected treasure hunt when we discuss Czech hikers who stumbled upon $360,000 worth of buried gold artifacts from the early 1900s—talk about being in the right place at the right time! The conversation shifts to the curious world of color psychology as we explore what different colored heart emojis actually mean (careful with that red heart in professional settings!), what colors you should wear on first dates (green for women, lavender for men), and how color coding can revolutionize family organization. When Nora reveals her intricate color-coded calendar system where each family member has their dedicated color, it becomes clear how deeply colors influence our daily lives and relationships. We couldn't talk about color without taste-testing some vibrant new treats, including Chocolate Covered Pretzel Oreos and Trader Joe's Root Beer Float pieces with popping candy. The episode takes a nostalgic turn when we discover Nora's preserved childhood collection of 72 Crayola crayons—still intact after all these years, saved lovingly by her grandmother who wouldn't let anyone else touch them. From discovering that blue is the world's most popular color across ten different countries to debating whether "underwear as outerwear" should be a fashion trend, this episode celebrates how color shapes our world, our choices, and our memories. Join us for this spectrum-spanning conversation that might just change how you see the colors around you. What colored heart emoji do you use most often, and did you know what it actually means? Taylor Swift and her maybe boyfriend, Kansas Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, have been inescapable the past few weeks. The pop superstar has been showing up at Chiefs games, and the NFL has been playing it up - all to the mutual benefit of each party involved. Regardless of if the three of them - Taylor, Travis, and the NFL - are in a romantic polycule, public relations expert Molly McPherson says they are for sure in a PR relationship. Brittany and Molly get into how PR relationships work for celebrities — from pop superstars to politicians.Plus, Taylor Swift released her Eras Tour film and Beyoncé announced her Renaissance Tour film a couple weeks ago. Brittany takes a look at whether these films add something for fans or if they are just another cash grab from these artists.
Taylor Swift has long been the subject of adoration, scrutiny, and debate—but it wasn't until this summer, as the Eras Tour filled football stadiums and TikTok feeds alike, that she achieved complete domination over popular culture. On this episode of Critics at Large, the staff writers Vinson Cunningham, Naomi Fry, and Alexandra Schwartz make sense of how Swift has managed to harness our collective attention in the midst of a fractured cultural landscape. They are joined by their fellow-critic Amanda Petrusich, who wrote about the Eras Tour earlier this year. “When she would address the crowd, it almost felt like I was getting hypnotized,” says Petrusich. She talks about what she calls Swift's ‘you guys' energy—the chatty, intimate tone Swift uses to address her fans. Together, the critics discuss the ins and outs of Swiftie fandom, the way that Swift herself savvily turns online censure into content, and whether the success of the Eras Tour—alongside recent maximalist collective events like Beyoncé's Renaissance Tour and Barbenheimer—marks a new golden age of the mainstream. It is Tuesday on The Rickey Smiley Morning Show Podcast. These programs will come into effect in 2024. The Writers Guild of America have reached a tentative agreement that would end the 146 day writer strike. Beyoncé had her Houston show for her Renaissance Tour and all of the Destiny's Child members were in attendance. Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams, LeToya Luckett and LaTavia Robinson. They did not perform, but it did spark Destiny's Child reunion rumors. And there are reports that actor and comedian Jamie Foxx is getting ready to walk down the aisle with his girlfriend Alyce Huckstepp. The problem is that his family and close people around him say that he is moving too fast and he needs to slow down to get to know her better. It is Tuesday on The Rickey Smiley Morning Show Podcast. And we are still welcoming Da Brat back to the show. Usher has finally spoken out about the Keke Palmer situation with the father of her child, Darius Jackson. Usher stated that it was just innocent fun. He also said people are making too much out of what happened. Due to the weather, Beyoncé's DC show was delayed. So Beyoncé paid the $100,000 fee to keep the stadium open for another hour so fans can experience the Renaissance Tour. The RSMS Crew interviewed “The Chair” from the Montgomery Riverboat Boardwalk Brawl. Wayne Brady is speaking out and saying that he is Pansexual. He is attracted to people, regardless of sex or gender. Marlon Wayans is receiving backlash from his comments about the Montgomery Fight. Marlon Wayans was asking for peace instead of fighting to come to the defense of their own. That is what a lot of people took from his post. Go check out what he said, maybe it was a mistake by Marlon Wayans but he needs to clarify. Of course The RSMS Crew is continuing the conversation about the Montgomery Riverboat Boardwalk Brawl. Was it based on race or based on alcohol? AND MUCH MORE FUNNY!!!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

It's Bey Hive season!! With Beyoncé's Renaissance Tour touching down in the US this week, the stans are ready to party with the queen (no non-disclosure). But Kay got to see her first tour stop in Europe a few months ago, and how that happened is quite the story. In this episode, Khadeen gives us the tea about her trip to Sweden to see the other Yoncé. Dead ass. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
It is Hump Day on The Rickey Smiley Morning Show Podcast. We have a lot of news and comedy for you. We do have some news about black men. They are at a higher risk of death for melanoma, a form of skin cancer, than other men. One of the reasons is that it goes undiagnosed due to darker skin color. Beyoncé's Renaissance Tour tickets are going down. All of the third party ticketing platforms brought up Beyoncé tickets and now those ticket values have dropped. But that does not affect Beyoncé's money. Rick Ross waited three years and spent $20 Million on a new watch by Jacob. The RSMS Crew talked about if they would ever buy a $20 Million watch? There was an astounding, No. It is Wellness Wednesday and Dr. Collier is on with The RSMS Crew. Today he is talking about male menopause. He says the reason we are suffering from this is because of low T. Larsa Pippen thought there was nothing funny about Michael Jordan saying that he does not approve of her and his son's relationship. She said she was embarrassed but could understand Michael Jordan having an issue with them dating. And Tamika Scott from Xscape, is still on with The RSMS Crew. AND MUCH MORE FUNNY!!! Ira and Louis discuss EuroVision and new music from our favorite foreign divas Kylie Minogue, Bebe Rexha, and Jessie Ware. Plus, Tom Cruise's celebrity friendships, some light Jeopardy drama, how Ira is still avoiding Renaissance Tour spoilers, and Louis attending the GLAAD Awards. Return guest Lizzy Caplan joins to discuss her new series Fatal Attraction and whether we're primed for a new era of erotic thrillers.
Host Brittany Luse revisits her 2022 conversation with the legendary DJ Honey Dijon. As one of the only Black trans DJs playing the biggest venues in the world, she's not only become an icon of the scene, but an arbiter of the culture. It's no surprise that Beyoncé tapped Honey for her biggest album yet, Renaissance. Brittany and Honey talk house music's Black roots, the evolution of the club scene, and working with Beyoncé on "Alien Superstar" and "Cozy."
