It's All About Healing Podcast is dedicated to guiding its listeners towards self-discovery and finding peace of mind. Robin Black, the host, places a strong emphasis on mental health and aims to provide a platform for individuals to share their voices while gaining a better understanding of the energy they emit and addressing energy blockages. As a certified spiritual counselor and psychology empath, Robin invites guests to participate in meaningful discussions about their experiences. She started her podcast because she suffered from past traumas and she has many stories, however, she no longer wanted to be crippled by fear. The fear of what others would think, or the fear of no one believing her. She stopped caring and decided to be that voice for others and impact the lives of others who are afraid. Hopefully, listening to her through her poetry/spoken word, or simply sharing her personal story will uplift others and help reduce the pain we hide internally. Welcome all to another episode of the Blacksmith's Furnace. We hope you've had a great week thus far. This week the Rock and the Rockstar jump around a few topics in the absence of Mo. They kick things off trading questions for Sorry Not Sorry. Robert talks about some superstitions he has and whether or not Christians should have those? and Peter talks about what he considers sufficient pay for full time ministers based on the size of the congregation. We then go on to talk about the tragic mass shooting in America, and while our hearts and prayers go out to the victims we couldn't help but be frustrated by yet another instance of gun violence in a country that seemingly refuses to do anything significant about guns! We touch on a few other topics in the process like if violent games can be blamed for some of this violence and Boris Johnson's blatant disregard for the very laws he made and how there seems to be no real consequence for it before giving some hookups. For those hookups Robert suggested checking out a UK rap album called Alfie, have a listen here https://open.spotify.com/album/4sYX4LKEfgMA8ohABncGx8?si=WalcHk2EQDuZUoOq5c7sOg&utm_source=whatsapp and Peter suggested checking out an Instagram account called Robin Black mma have a watch of some of his hilarious breakdowns here [https://www.instagram.com/robinblackmartialarts/](https://www.instagram.com/robinblackmartialarts/) **We hope you enjoy the episode and if you do please let us know in the comments and let your friends know by sharing, and if you don't, please let us know in the comments and let your friends know by sharing. The 1970s saw the rise of rock and metal as a force in record and ticket sales. Right there at the birth of this was Black Sabbath, whose first album came from nowhere to smash into the top of the charts in Britain and around the world. “Black Sabbath in the 1970s” covers the career of the original foursome - Geezer Butler, Tony Iommi, Ozzy Osbourne and Bill Ward – from Polka Tulk, through Earth and their original nine years as Black Sabbath, when the band recorded such iconic albums as ‘Paranoid', ‘Sabbath Bloody Sabbath' and ‘Masters of Reality'. This book includes new interview material from key figures including Rick Wakeman and engineers Mike Butcher and Robin Black, among others. It's is a comprehensive roundup of the band's music in the decade. All of the albums and singles from “The Rebel” until “Never Say Die” are examined in detail, along with related archive releases. Also included is a section covering Black Sabbath's tours in the era, looking at key live recordings from every tour. Overall, this is the most comprehensive account of the fortunes in the band during this crucial decade yet written.Chris also gives us his theory behind the story of the song “Black Sabbath” and who that “figure in black” really is, tells the story of the time Tony Iommi gave him a ride home and a whole lot more about Black Sabbath!Chris Sutton has been a fan of Black Sabbath since the early 70s. Robin Black's crushing collection "If I loved You, I'd Tell You This" is the subject of this cast as we dive into her title story. Notions of love and how we spend or share it are explored along with the the very real notion that god might be fiction himself. Canadian punks White Lung give us the record for this one with their second album "Sorry". A truly excellent under 20-minute onslaught of the best Bikini Kill inspired hardcore one could imagine. Unfortunately Apple Music fucked Daniel's copy of the album so he has very little to contribute. Lastly, Nick M. drinks a White Claw with tequila while Daniel has his standby Guinness and Gregorio once again gets the marque with Tree House Brewing's "Spring". This one felt really good. Perhaps the Nick's had more than a few minutes of sleep the night before. CHEERS!

Robin Black is an international treasure in the martial arts and content creation space. . Imagine yourself at age 36, having dedicated your life to your career, deciding that you were on the wrong path, and making an immediate change to the most unrealistic goal in the world. . That's exactly what Robin did, except he made it his reality, and he was successful. Robin, at age 36 was a self proclaimed "D List Rockstar" touring the world putting on shows, when his doctor told him that he needed a massive lifestyle shift following a seizure. So he chose the only natural thing to do, he became a professional fighter, and eventually, one of the fight commentators in the world. . Robin's instagram account @RobinBlackMartialArts is where you can find his epic "1 minute breakdown" videos of some of the most beautiful violence you will ever see. When Robin's account @RobinBlackMMA was taken down for an accidental copyright infringement some of the most influential names in MMA stepped up and told the world to go follow his new account, that is how important his work is. . COLE COHEN reads from her debut memoir HEAD CASE: MY BRAIN AND OTHER WONDERS

Head Case: My Brain and Other Wonders (Henry Holt & Company)  A spirited, wry, and utterly original memoir about one woman's struggle to make her way and set up a life after doctors discover a hole the size of a lemon in her brain. The summer before she was set to head out-of-state to pursue her MFA, twenty-six-year-old Cole Cohen submitted herself to a battery of tests. For as long as she could remember, she'd struggled with a series of learning disabilities that made it nearly impossible to judge time and space--standing at a cross walk, she couldn't tell you if an oncoming car would arrive in ten seconds or thirty; if you asked her to let you know when ten minutes had passed, she might notify you in a minute or an hour. These symptoms had always kept her from getting a driver's license, which she wanted to have for grad school. Instead of leaving the doctor's office with permission to drive, she left with a shocking diagnosis--doctors had found a large hole in her brain responsible for her life-long struggles. Because there aren't established tools to rely on in the wake of this unprecedented and mysterious diagnosis, Cole and her doctors and family create them, and discover firsthand how best to navigate the unique world that Cole lives in. Told without an ounce of self-pity and plenty of charm and wit, Head Case is ultimately a story of triumph, as we watch this passionate, loveable, and unsinkable young woman chart a path for herself. Praise for Head Case “Head Case is hilarious, moving, thought-provoking: it will change the way you think about what it means to move through the world, no matter the shape of your own human brain.  Cole Cohen's brain is unusual, and her voice is indelible: this is a wonderful book by a wonderful writer.  I can't wait to see what she writes next.”—Elizabeth McCracken "Terrifically readable, while still being piercing and honest about different kinds of struggle, some familiar, some utterly her own. Besides that, Cole Cohen's also really funny. And unafraid of being bleak. And funny/bleak. I so enjoyed being carried along by Cohen's voice."—Aimee Bender, author of The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake "Rich with yearning and ache, conveying a scrunched sense of claustrophobia and imagery of cinematic quality. . .The author also delivers flashes of humor to add levity to the proceedings. A beautifully wrenching memoir as piercing as smelling salts."--Kirkus (starred review)" "Head Case is funny, touching, acerbic, and emotional; it vividly evokes the world as she experiences it and leaves you feeling you have met an exceptional, tough, indomitable character. " --Susan Orlean "I'm delighted and inspired by Cole Cohen's Head Case, an account of herself that shines throughout with her particular brand of perseverance, humor, hard-won clarity and wisdom." --Maggie Nelson, author of The Art of Cruelty "Cole Cohen writes with poignant clarity about her life of continual disorientation--the result of a hole in her parietal lobe. I laud her persistence, her humor, her gracious prose, and most of all, her honesty - and, as the mother of a child likewise afflicted with an "invisible disability," I am grateful for this revelatory memoir. Cohen's challenges are as universal as their cause is unique, and Head Case, so raw and artful both, is an important book. Bravo!"--Robin Black, author of If I Loved You, I Would Tell You This "Cole Cohen writes with clarity, humor and honesty about her own unique brain, but Head Case is also about the very human journey of learning to navigate the big world from inside one's one mind. This is a fascinating and brave memoir."--Ramona Ausubel, author of No One is Here Except All of Us and A Guide to Being Born Cole Cohen graduated from the California Institute of the Arts MFA program in Writing and Critical Studies in 2009. She was a finalist for the Bakeless Prize and the Association of Writers & Writing Programs prize in Nonfiction and she has been a Yaddo Fellow. She currently lives in Santa Barbara, California where she works as the Events and Program Coordinator for UC Santa Barbara's Interdisciplinary Humanities Center.

REBECCA RASMUSSEN reads from EVERGREEN

Evergreen (Knopf) From the celebrated author of The Bird Sisters, a gorgeously rendered and emotionally charged novel that spans generations, telling the story of two siblings, raised apart, attempting to share a life. It is 1938 when Eveline, a young bride, follows her husband into the wilderness of Minnesota. Though their cabin is rundown, they have a river full of fish, a garden out back, and a new baby boy named Hux. But when Emil leaves to take care of his sick father, the unthinkable happens: a stranger arrives, and Eveline becomes pregnant. She gives the child away, and while Hux grows up hunting and fishing in the woods with his parents, his sister, Naamah, is raised an orphan. Years later, haunted by the knowledge of this forsaken girl, Hux decides to find his sister and bring her home to the cabin. But Naamah, even wilder than the wilderness that surrounds them, may make it impossible for Hux to ever tame her, to ever make up for all that she, and they, have lost. Set before a backdrop of vanishing forest, this is a luminous novel of love, regret, and hope. Praise for Evergreen "Rasmussen has been steadily crafting a unique brand of Midwestern literature that combines offbeat characters and timeless rhythms reminiscent of folk tales with touching story lines about the pain and hard-won joys of real life. . . She shows her strong affection for the picturesque rural setting of yesteryear . . . In this character-driven saga of friendship and the thorny bonds of family, Rasmussen writes with wisdom and compassion about the people and places that shape us, for better or worse."--Sarah Johnson, Booklist "Evergreen has the power of fable and the wonderful, idiosyncratic precision of memoir. A deeply moving novel of mothers and daughters -- and mothers and sons -- and the ties that bind."--Chris Bohjalian, author of The Sandcastle Girls and Close Your Eyes, Hold Hands "Evergreen is a gem of a novel. The story unfolds with the potency and certainty of fable and explores, with exquisite grace, the redemptive power of love."--Tara Conklin, New York Times bestselling author of The House Girl "In luminous, evocative prose, Rebecca Rasmussen weaves a large-hearted story of resilience, hope and forgiveness deep in the wilds of Minnesota. Evergreen traces the gifts and burdens each generation passes on to the next, intentionally or not, and the flinty beauty that can be found in even the most hardscrabble circumstances."--Christina Baker Kline, bestselling author of Orphan Train "Evergreen reads like a brilliant collaboration between a novelist and a naturalist. Rebecca Rasmussen's stunning eye for detail is perfectly matched by her understanding of how lives turn in an instant, decisions shape distant generations, and sometimes, if we're fortunate, loyalties survive to save us against all odds. Steadily beautiful, occasionally brutal, Evergreen is always vivid, always compelling, always ringing with truth."--Robin Black, author of If I Loved You I Would Tell You This Rebecca Rasmussen is the author of the novel The Bird Sisters. Her stories have appeared in or won prizes from TriQuarterly, Narrative Magazine, Glimmer Train, The Mid-American Review, among other journals. She was born and raised in the Midwest. Currently, she lives in Los Angeles with her husband and daughter and teaches English part-time at UCLA.
