It's Thursday, April 3rd, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark 46 physical attacks on Christians in Israel last year Attacks on Christians in Israel increased last year according to a report from the Rossing Center for Education and Dialogue. Christians in Israel suffered 111 attacks in 2024, including 46 physical attacks. The report noted, “The most common form of physical harassment is spitting—a long-standing issue that has escalated from subtle incidents to openly aggressive acts. Clergy are now regularly harassed in public spaces.” Perpetrators are generally Jewish young men from ultra-Orthodox circles. Chinese saber-rattling against Taiwan prompting Christians to pray The Chinese military carried out large-scale drills around Taiwan on Tuesday. China claims self-ruled Taiwan as a breakaway province and has not ruled out force to bring it under Beijing's control. Such saber-rattling has left many in Taiwan uneasy. But Christians across the island nation are uniting in prayer for revival, unity, repentance, and protection. People are praying every day for 24 hours a day. The number of prayer groups has reached 40,000 with about five members per group. Brian Liu, Pastor at Shekinah House of Bread of Life, spoke to CBN News, LIU: “The united prayers and fasting prayers of the churches in Taiwan are much more than ever before. It's an unprecedented prayer movement.” 2 Chronicles 7:14 says, “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” Republicans win two Florida congressional seats In the United States, Republicans won special elections on Tuesday for two Florida congressional districts. Former state Sen. Randy Fine won the open U.S. House seat in Florida's 6th Congressional District, replacing Mike Waltz who is now President Donald Trump's national security adviser. And Republican Jimmy Patronis won the state's 1st Congressional District which was previously held by former Rep. Matt Gaetz. The victories maintain the GOP's slim majority in the U.S. House of Representatives. Democrats won Wisconsin Supreme Court seat However, Democrats won a Supreme Court race in Wisconsin on Tuesday. Democrat-backed judge Susan Crawford defeated Trump-backed judge Brad Schimel 55% to 45%. Crawford previously served as an attorney for Planned Parenthood. She fought against a law for women's safety which would have required abortion mills to have hospital admitting privileges. And Crawford fought against a law that would have prevented women from being coerced into abortion. Her victory maintains a liberal majority on the court which may hear important cases on abortion and congressional maps and redistricting. Specifically, Democrats are eager to insert a so-called right to abortion in the Wisconsin Constitution and redistrict previously safe Republican districts into Democrat ones, ensuring that Trump will lose his slim House majority which would deep-six his legislative agenda. Kelsey Pritchard, Communications Director of the pro-life Women Speak Out PAC, said, “Republican voters should heed this race as a warning on becoming complacent following the wins last November. “We must be engaged as we enter the mid-terms and show up to the polls next year so that the Trump administration's progress is not reversed. Otherwise, Democrats will fulfill the abortion lobby's agenda for the elimination of parental rights and all-trimester abortion funded by the taxpayer.” It was the most expensive judicial race in U.S. history with over $90 million spent. That included $20 million from tech billionaire Elon Musk for Brad Schimel. South Carolina eager to end Medicaid funding for Planned Parenthood The U.S. Supreme Court heard arguments in an abortion funding case yesterday. The state of South Carolina is trying to end Medicaid funding for abortion giant Planned Parenthood. The Palmetto state has the support of the Trump administration and 18 other states. Alliance Defending Freedom is representing South Carolina in the case. John Bursch, their Senior Counsel, said, “Taxpayer dollars should never be used to fund facilities that profit off abortion and distribute dangerous gender-transition drugs to minors.” Wyoming no longer requires homeschoolers to get gov't approval Back at the end of February, Wyoming's Republican Governor Mark Gordon signed the Homeschool Freedom Act into law. Homeschool families in the state are no longer required to notify or check in with the government to educate their children. Wyoming is the 12th state in the nation to end such requirements and the first to do so by legislation. The Home School Legal Defense Association supported the bill. Christian astronaut trusted God despite 9-month delay in space And finally, a Christian astronaut shared his story with CBN News after being stuck in space for nine months. NASA Astronaut Barry Wilmore was planning for an eight-day mission to the International Space Station last year. But technical complications delayed his return until last month. Wilmore said God's sovereignty sustained him during the extended journey. He even led church devotionals while in orbit and sang “Amazing Grace” with fellow astronauts. He said he trusted God's plan. WILMORE: “The Lord's plan and His purpose. I'm okay with it. Whatever. Is it my plan? No, but my plans are not usually the good plans, are the right plans. And the Lord's [plans] always are, regardless of what takes place. God's word is clear, and I believe it because I've lived it. God is always good.” Romans 8:28 says, “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Thursday, April 3rd, in the year of our Lord 2025. On the debut episode of the newly relaunched Chuck ToddCast, Chuck sits down with Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman. But first, Chuck reacts to the special election results for US Congress in Florida that saw Republicans Jimmy Patronis and Randy Fine beat out Democrats Gay Valimont and Josh Weil for the seats vacated by Matt Gaetz and Mike Waltz. He also discusses the hotly contested Wisconsin Supreme Court race, where liberal judge Susan Crawford won her race against Brad Schimel, who had millions of dollars of support from Elon Musk. Then, he and Sen. Fetterman discuss a wide range of important issues, beginning with his message to Democrats who are alarmed by the actions of Donald Trump's administration. He shares his reaction to the “Signalgate” scandal and his assessment of what went wrong for Democrats in the 2024 election. Fetterman gives his take on Elon Musk and Doge performing massive cuts across the federal government, as well as the looming tariffs that President Trump is threatening to impose on America's top trading partners. They also try to make sense of the administration's 180-degree turn on longstanding U.S. foreign policy and the president's fixation on Greenland. Finally, they discuss the current lack of a true leader for the Democratic Party, the role of billionaires in politics, and whether Senator Fetterman is considering a run for president in 2028.Timeline:0:00 Introduction2:30 Special elections in Florida8:42 Wisconsin Supreme Court race14:48 Start of John Fetterman interview18:00 Aaron Rodgers to the Steelers?19:00 Message to Democrats that are freaking out23:44 Reaction to “Signalgate”27:10 What happened in 2024?30:44 Elon Musk and DOGE35:22 America's 180-degree turn on foreign policy40:38 President Trump's fixation on Greenland44:28 Fetterman's Mar-A-Lago visit46:45 Who's the leader of the Democratic party?51:04 Influence of billionaires in politics54:08 Will Fetterman run for president in 2028?56:09 Do Democrats need to move to the center?1:01:09 Chuck's final thoughts on the interview with John Fetterman
Voters in Wisconsin are picking a new state Supreme Court justice, as Florida fills the U.S. House seats vacated by former Reps. Matt Gaetz and Mike Waltz, in elections that the Democratic Party is trying to pitch as a referendum on Donald Trump and Elon Musk. Plus, the U.S. Supreme Court is skeptical of a Wisconsin ruling that denied a tax exemption to Catholic Charities. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
We are a day away from filling the Congressional seats left vacant from Matt Gaetz and Mike Waltz. In Florida's 1st Congressional district Republican Jimmy Patronis is running against Democrat Gay Valimont and in Congressional district 6 state Senator Randy Fine and Democrat Josh Weil are running to replace National Security Advisor Mike Waltz's seat. Both districts are heavy Trump favorites with a 30 point victory back in November. The harder race to call is in Wisconsin, where Elon, Scott Pressler and many prominent MAGA influencers have been on the ground to get Waukesha County court judge Brad Schimel elected. Tomorrow is also Liberation Day, President Trump will impose reciprocal type tariffs on imported goods from other countries in an effort to free the United States from relying on foreign goods. The president has already brought in a flurry of investments and Peter Navarro foresees a $600 Billion annual increase in American prosperity. Elon Musk exposed absolutely insane fraud within Social Security, including millions of illegal immigrants receiving benefits. Harrison Fields joins me to discuss all things inside the Trump White House. Working alongside Karoline Leavitt, the White House has taken the reins from the WHCA in the press briefing room. The WHCA annual dinner might not even happen after the host, left-wing hack Amber Ruffin, slandered Harrison and his colleagues. The Trump administration is excited for Liberation Day and look forward to the economic boom they predict will be brought in from tariffs. Voters are heading to the polls in two special elections in Florida and Wisconsin. Florida's holding special elections for Matt Gaetz and Mike Waltz's congressional seats and both seats are critical races for Republicans, given their slim majority in the House. The battleground state of Wisconsin is also voting on a new judge for the state's top court. It's become the most expensive judicial contest in US history, with more than $90 million being spent on campaigning, including $21 million by Elon Musk. Republican Strategist Matt Terrill told Mike Hosking while the Republicans are confident they'll win Florida, a different race is unfolding in Wisconsin. He says the outcome will send a signal as to where the pulse of the country is – if the Trump-backed candidate wins, it signals the strength of his mandate, but if the Democratic candidate wins, they'll have a point to rally behind. Today I had the opportunity to speak with Gay Valimont, the Democratic nominee running in the Florida special election to fill Matt Gaetz's former House seat.In this extremely crucial race, Democrats have the fundraising advantage seven times over, and hope it's enough to swing this extremely red district. A win for Valimont would eliminate the GOP's already-slim majority, and potentially make for a colossal shift of power in Congress.Gay told me her very touching personal story, gave an update on the state of the race, and shared some inspiring words for everyone fighting back against Trump that you won't want to miss. Josh Weil, Democratic candidate for Florida's 6th Congressional District, joins Deep Dive to discuss what could be one of the most consequential special elections in American history. A public school teacher and single father, Weil explains why his April 1st race represents more than just a local contest – it's potentially the first domino in Democrats' path to regaining control of the House. With Republicans currently holding the slimmest House majority in historical memory, the stakes couldn't be higher. Weil articulates how flipping a seat that went Republican by 32 points would send shockwaves through the GOP, demonstrating that there is no job security from Donald Trump's endorsement. This message could fundamentally alter how Republican representatives approach their roles, forcing them to be more responsive to constituents rather than blindly following party leadership. What makes Weil's campaign particularly fascinating is his embrace of progressive policies in a traditionally conservative district. He challenges conventional wisdom about Democratic messaging, arguing that the party has failed in messaging for over a decade while offering concrete examples of missed opportunities to connect with working-class voters. Weil doesn't hold back criticism of his own party, particularly Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer's inability to extract concessions during recent negotiations, demonstrating his commitment to honest assessment over partisan loyalty. The conversation weaves between local campaign strategy and national implications, highlighting how special elections occurring outside the typical cycle allow candidates to focus more directly on constituent concerns. As Weil puts it, drawing from his 13 years teaching in Title I schools.Whether you're in Florida's 6th district or simply concerned about the future of American democracy, this episode provides critical context for understanding what's at stake on April 1st.Josh Weil for CongressGay Valimont for CongressVote in Florida-------------------------Follow Deep Dive:BlueskyYouTube Email: deepdivewithshawn@gmail.com Music: Majestic Earth - Joystock
On this week's episode of 'The Sunday Show with Jonathan Capehart': Rebooting the Resistance. After a bruising battle over the Republican's spending bill and a split among the leadership, Democrats are taking the fight to MAGA territory, as a brand new NBC poll shows many voters are souring on President Trump's handling of the economy. The chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, Rep. Suzan DelBene, and Rep. Rosa DeLauro of Connecticut join me to talk about the way forward for their party. Putin's Playbook: Growing questions on whether the Russian dictator is ready to accept a ceasefire deal with Ukraine. I'll ask former Rep. Jane Harmon if Vladimir Putin is seriously considering a truce or just playing President Trump. And Minor Majority: House Speaker Mike Johnson needs every vote he can get with the Republican's razor-thin control of the House, so a key special election in Florida could make all the difference. I'll talk to Gay Valimont about her bid to take the seat of former Rep. Matt Gaetz. All that and more on “The Sunday Show with Jonathan Capehart.”

You may be asking: does America even have free and fair elections in GOP-gerrymandered hostage states like Florida? Under a wannabe-autocrat like Ron DeSantis, voting becomes a defiant fact check of the legitimacy of the GOP's power. If they were truly effective at governing, why would they resort to gerrymandering and other forms of voter suppression to maintain control? By voting, even if your vote is illegally not counted, your presence casting the vote adds up, and together the exit polls can indicate whether the election was stolen. Look to Venezuela's grassroots powerhouse effort to count votes before they were conveniently misplaced. In Venezuela, the voters proved the opposition leader Edmundo González, not Russian-backed dictator Nicolás Maduro, won the election. Several independent investigations confirmed their victory. While Maduro clings to power, voting remains a powerful fact check, confronting him with his own illegitimacy and galvanizing the movement to oust him. In Florida, two special elections will take place on April 1—to replace pedo Putin-puppet Matt Gaetz in the Congressional 1st District with Democratic challenger Gay Valimont, and to replace Zelenskyy co-extortionist Mike Waltz in the Congressional 6th District. Longtime public educator and champion of public schools Josh Weil stops by Gaslit Nation to discuss how you can help support his campaign to hold Elon Musk and MAGA accountable. I know. I escaped Florida after living there for half of my life. I don't have many kind words to say about the state that has mostly become a bad joke. But I'll sing their praises if the people of Florida come through on April 1. (And I'm not talking about an April Fools prank!)There are two special congressional races in FL being held that day to replace two of D'ump's cabinet nominees. Matt Gaetz left Congress as the rep for District 1 when he was ridiculously nominated to be AG. Thankfully we dodged that bullet and no longer have Gaetz in Congress. Rep Mike Waltz resigned from his seat representing FL6 to become D'ump's new national security advisor. The special election to fill those two seats from Florida is set for April 1, with the deadline to register this Monday, March 3. On todays show The Fearsome Threesome talk about the swearing-in ceremony for Cash, where Pam Bondi officiated, and the unique camaraderie within the Trump administration. JD Vance is gaining momentum over Marco Rubio. Mike Cernovich's optimism about Trump's success is noted. Rumors of Matt Gaetz as a special prosecutor against the Biden family were mentioned. They discussed Trump's designation of cartels as terrorists and his negotiations with Mexico and Canada on border security and tariffs. The conversation also touched on Alaska's energy potential, the challenges of ranked-choice voting, and the Pope's communist past. In this episode, Kim sits down with Suzanne Lambert, the self-proclaimed Liberal Regina George, for a reminder in these unserious times: don't get mad—get mean. Once a conservative princess and President of the Young Republicans, Suzanne has since traded pearl-clutching for b*tch-slapping. Now, she's here to spill the tea on America's latest identity crisis and favorite pastime: hypocrisy—aka praying the gay away until it's time to come out of the closet. From glucose grifters like Matt Gaetz to the biggest clowns in politics, Kim and Suzanne break down who's running the circus. And despite popular opinion, America loves rich people. They unpack why you can't rebrand sexism as DEI and why the loudest pro-lifers always seem to need “a little vacation.” Kim's biggest takeaway? Being the Republican House leader is a little like marrying Henry VIII. At some point, you're getting your head cut off. But for now, Mike Johnson remains not just physically intact—but in a position of incredible power. Two weeks ago, Johnson was reelected Speaker of the House on the first ballot. Despite having only the narrowest of House majorities—the Republicans control the House by four votes, 219 vs. 215 Democrats—Mike Johnson was able to unite the Republican Party's warring factions—moderates, the Freedom Caucus, the Raw Milk caucus, libertarians, hawks, doves, and whatever Lauren Boebert is—behind him. It was tough to pull off, as it would've taken only a couple of No votes to send him off to that Republican Valhalla where John Boehner chain-smokes and chugs merlot, Paul Ryan does push-ups, and Kevin McCarthy throws darts at a photo of Matt Gaetz. Now, Donald Trump will become president of the United States and Mike Johnson will have the task of shepherding his agenda through Congress. And because the Republicans control the House by only four seats, the Speaker might have to get very close to some moderate Democrats—particularly those with constituents itching for a tax cut. Today on Honestly, Speaker Johnson breaks down this challenge. He talks about how the party moves forward with two different visions for America; why he thinks Biden was “the worst president ever”; he recalls an eerie experience with Biden in the Oval Office; and he even gives us a taste of his uncanny Trump impression. Pam Bondi is likely to sail to confirmation—even if she's an election denier and pretends she was born yesterday—because she meets the simple qualifications of being a lawyer and former prosecutor, and because she's not a frat paddle come to life i.e. Matt Gaetz. But the fact that she wasn't able to clearly state that the U.S. is her client, not Donald Trump, is a giant red flag. Ditto for his personal lawyers also coming on board. Plus, the ominous removal of Mike Turner from the House intelligence committee, how Biden's farewell address stacked up, and what the locked-up shampoo bottles at CVS say about blue-state governance.
