Še vedno pa ga včasih razjezi, da mora večino stvari, ki jih potrebuje kot inženir mehatronike, naročiti po spletu, saj jih pri nas preprosto ni mogoče kupiti. Mit ihrem legendären Album "Paranoid" haben Ozzy Osbourne und Black Sabbath 1970 den internationalen Durchbruch geschafft. Mit Songs wie "Paranoid", "War Pigs" oder "Iron Man" sind auf dem Album auch drei der bekanntesten Songs der Gruppe. Diese Folge ist für das Team der Meilensteine etwas ganz Besonderes. Es ist die erste Folge, die wir live in einem Club vor Publikum aufgezeichnet haben und mit dieser Folge verabschiedet sich das Meilensteine-Team sich von der verstorbenen Rock- und Heavy Metal-Legende Ozzy Osbourne. "Paranoid" von Black Sabbath gilt heute als eines der stilprägenden Alben des Heavy Metal. Der Begriff Heavy Metal war ein Jahr zuvor zum ersten Mal in einem Song erwähnt worden, bei Steppenwolfs "Born To Be Wild" heißt es: "I like smokin' Lightning, Heavy Metal Thunder, Racing with the Wind and the Feeling, that I'm under." Und auf "Paranoid" machen Black Sabbath sich auf den Weg, die Musik zu machen, aus der der Heavy Metal entsteht. Damit hat in den kommenden Jahren der Hardrock und Heavy Metal dann gefühlt musikalisch die Zeit der Hippie-Musik abgelöst und ist zum musikalischen "Next Big Thing" geworden. Bis Black Sabbath so geklungen haben, wie sie auf "Paranoid" klingen, hat es noch eine kurze Weile gedauert. In der Anfangszeit bestand die Band noch aus sechs Musikern und machte eher Heavy Blues-Musik. Ob das Album "Paranoid" von Black Sabbath schon Heavy Metal ist, oder noch Heavy Blues, oder etwas anderes dazwischen, darüber streiten sich Fans gerne. Worüber sich viele Fans einig sind, ist, dass es wegweisend für das Genre Heavy Metal ist. Genau deshalb ist es auch ein absoluter Meilenstein. SWR1 Musikredakteur Stephan Fahrig stellt fest: "Es hat unbestreitbar die Wurzeln des Heavy Metal und auch alle Zutaten dieses Genres schon beinhaltet, wie wir sie heute als Heavy Metal definieren würden." Auch der Gitarrensound auf "Paranoid" von Black Sabbath ist ikonisch. The big news in Silicon Valley this week of a supposedly orchestrated “Panic Campaign” against AI. According to the researcher Nirit Weiss-Blatt, the campaign about the apocalyptical inevitability of AI is being driven by doomers like former OpenAI chief scientist Ilya Sutskever. Weiss-Blatt's analysis are now being taken seriously in a Silicon Valley not adverse to conspiracy theories - particularly against itself. But how credibly should outsiders take her warnings? Keith Teare takes it seriously enough to dedicate his That Was The Week newsletter to it. I'm not so sure. And in the midst of our jousting, we were joined by Weiss-Blatt herself whose analysis of this moral panic, I have to admit, isn't entirely absurd. This is a public episode. Josie Moore grew up in the valley town of Westfield, Massachusetts with a voice that wouldn't work and a brain filled to bursting. Finally having an outlet to put all her obsessive, creative energy, she dreams of one day showing even the deepest crevices of her mind with her odd love stories and twisted mysteries. The Contest, one of the most prestigious writing and illustrating competitions in the world, is currently in its 43rd year and is judged by some of the premier names in speculative fiction. The war is over.  First up, the Baby Boom and a newly-discovered demographic, the white American teenager.  This new cohort is huge, with unprecedented economic clout. Young, restless and affluent, and they want to get beyond the timid, conformist popular culture of 1950s America.  “Race Records” (an outdated term for rhythm and blues records by African American musicians) become hugely popular with white teenagers. Drawn from the well of sorrow that is the Black American experience, this music has the edge and urgency--the authenticity--these kids are seeking.  We meet our first hero - the musical genius Ray Charles - and our first anti-hero, the frenetic, fatally flawed DJ Alan Freed.  We shine a light on two grassroots cultural movements that became important later: the Skiffle Craze in the United Kingdom and the Beat Poets of Urban America.  1954 is an inflection point. On the musical front, Bill Haley released the first million-selling Rock N Roll record: “Rock Around The Clock.”    That same year, big changes in the political landscape. The Brown v Board of Education decision; and Senator Joseph McCarthy was publically humiliated and discredited. Freedom of Association and Freedom of Expression take a step forward. Paranoid politics and systemic racism are still very much with us in America, but in 1954 it got a little easier, became a little less risky, to be yourself and express yourself.
