Run to the Top Podcast | The Ultimate Guide to Running

Running should be a safe sport for everyone who participates but unfortunately, that's not always the case. This could happen for a variety of reasons including injuries, weather conditions, and even harassment. This is especially true for women and people of color who more frequently confront unsafe situations.  On today's show, we're joined by coaches Andie Cozzarelli and Hayley Jane to discuss what risks runners need to be aware of to stay safe and tips for dealing with or avoiding these dangers. We'll hear their thoughts on how running can be made safer. Some of the questions we'll answer include: What are the most common safety concerns runners face? Why might female runners need to be especially careful when running alone? How Andie and Hayley have handled unsafe situations in their own running? What are some strategies runners can use to stay safe when running  Running can have incredible mental and physical benefits but it's important to practice it safely. Even if you have never experienced safety concerns when running, these strategies will prepare you for dealing with them if they do. So let's get into it! We are so excited to have Hayley Jane as our guest this week on No Simple Road! Hayley Jane's performance is layered with raw intensity + linguistic prowess.   She has a deeply emotive + highly magnetizing presence that's generating a buzz in the industry.   Hayley pulls inspiration from a variety of styles, including 60s + 70s rock + pop, musical theater, folk, blues, soul,  psychedelic, funk + bluegrass.  Just as varied, are the many ways she can captivate an audience.  Whether the concentrated potency of her solo acoustic performance, the explosive energy + movement of her full band shows, or one of her theatrical performances, she always brings the charisma, humor + passion to move an audience.   Hayley was incredibly vulnerable wit us in this conversation and it's our hope that anyone suffering through addiction or otherwise finds a bit of comfort and a whole lot of support in hearing her story. We talk with Hayley about: What finally happened that made her decide to finally get clean and sober. Being a magical theme park princess. Figuring out who she actually is onstage. Becoming a character in order to tell your secrets onstage. Overcoming the desire to be a 'people pleaser'. How she fought to overcome negative stories about herself. We started off this episode with our new theme, which one of our favorite artists was kind enough to let us use! We hope you love it as much as we do. Thanks again, Hayley Jane! Sage filled our heads with Snake knowledge this week with a quick section on snakes in Greek and Pueblo mythology. We discussed myths, legends, history, and artifacts that have been found over time. We also discovered why we love snakes so much - not just because they're the perfect Satanic icon. Then Sam shared with us some news this week related to legalization, and our concerns about Delta-8 THC are validated! Seriously, just wait until it's been regulated and tested, y'all. Yes Darling are a duo made up of Hayley Jane and Ryan Montbleau. Ryan is a veteran of the American and Jam Band scene with his own solo work and guest appearances, while Hayley is well known for her work with The Primates and her solo work in that same scene. Together they make music across many genres, focused on the give and take of relationships, in their case, between men and women. Their whimsical take is fun, and in each song is full of great vocal performances and real genuine emotion. So naturally we wanted to get these two on to talk about the project. Above The Basement - Boston Music and Conversation

We first saw Ryan Montbleau back in 2012 in Boston on a Rock and Blues Cruise that featured the Ryan Montbleau Band. It was a full boat and was packed with Ryan Montbleau fans and the band totally rocked the house. Or rather the boat. The singer-songwriter and bandleader has been a relentless road warrior. His last album called I Was Just Leaving is a bit more introspective than his previous but certainly shows off his songwriting chops. His most recent project is a duo with the wonderful Hayley Jane called Yes Darling. Our occasional co-host Ike Walker joined us at our usual location in Concord, MA and we talked jury duty, moving, writing, dreams…uh…eggs…lots of stuff! Song List: Song 1: Moving Too Fast (I Was Just Leaving) Song 2: Fast Car (feat.
