Josh and Drusilla are joined by a very special guest, Kayte Terry (@kayteterry) of the Tender Subject podcast. They discuss Philadelphia, cannibal films, Raw, Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Ravenous, Dead Wood, Parents, Cannibal Holocaust, Blood Feast, Sorcerer, The Thief, the Cook, His Wife, and His Lover, Duel, The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant, Under Paris, One Dark Night, and more. The film of the week is David Cronenberg's Crimes of the Future. From wiki: “Crimes of the Future is a 2022 science fiction body horror drama film written and directed by David Cronenberg. The film stars Viggo Mortensen, Léa Seydoux and Kristen Stewart.[4] It follows a performance artist duo (Mortensen and Seydoux) who perform surgery for audiences in a future where human evolution has accelerated for much of the population. Although the film shares its title with Cronenberg's 1970 film of the same name, it is not a remake as the story and concept are unrelated.[5] The film marked Cronenberg's return to the science fiction and horror genres for the first time since Existenz (1999).”NEXT WEEK: Vampyr (1932)Follow them across the internet:Bloodhaus:https://www.bloodhauspod.com/https://twitter.com/BloodhausPodhttps://www.instagram.com/bloodhauspod/ Drusilla Adeline:https://www.sisterhydedesign.com/https://letterboxd.com/sisterhyde/Joshua Conkelhttps://www.joshuaconkel.com/https://www.instagram.com/joshua_conkel/https://letterboxd.com/JoshuaConkel/

Kim and Maddie recently revisited Maddie's first Kdrama ever, The Liar and His Lover (2017) and figured it was about time for a full review. They discuss sweet So-rim winning prod K over, Han-gyul ~eventually~ figuring out how to balance music + relationships, and the real ship - Crude Play's leader Shi-hyun and the sole employee of Sole Music Soo-yeon (also a noona romanca aka Maddie's dream lol). Other talking points include: Crude Play being the real MVPs (seriously the amount of grace those boys give Han-gyul is impressive), going back and forth between Chan-young being a weenie but also feeling a little bad for him, and of course, mini rankings of Crude Play's discography / the various versions of 'I'm Okay.' ..... Categories: The Skinny (5:03), MVP Characters (8:28), Tenderest of Moments (26:13), Spicy Moments (48:42), Swoonies (54:15), Weenies (1:05:41), Thoughts on the ending (1:25:06)
Nina and Hannah are back to recap the seventh episode of Emily in Paris Season Two — The Cook, the Thief, Her Ghost and His Lover (a reference Hannah did not know!). They also again discuss the morality of shoplifting (they can't get enough!), stereotypes, and preferences around PDA. Nina teaches Hannah about Ramp and Ramp Culture. Hannah teaches Nina to be a good friend (leading by example). Be sure to subscribe and leave a review with your takes on Season Two and maybe some compliments for your two Chicago gals offering a Chicago take on Emily, a Chicago girl, and her life in Paris. We want to know what you want and what you think— your wants and thinks, as they say. Follow us on Instagram @hmrehak & @nslesÀ bientôt!
Happy official 1 year anni to the SEOULMATES pod!! In honor of this day, Kim and Maddie rewatched ep 1 (and 2) of the 2017 KDrama, The Liar and His Lover, starring Lee Hyun-woo as the legendary Prod K and Joy as sweet Yoon So-rim. They discuss how this show started it all (+ is basically the reason the pod exists lol) because it launched Maddie right off the KDrama cliff. They also talk through the plot, the musical genius of Prod K, the (cringey??) age gap relationships, and of course, mourn CrudePlay being a fictional group. (y'all go queue up Peterpan and In Your Eyes... BOPS!) Also just FYI this episode includes some spoilers because we've already seen the whole thing, apologies!
Jeff & Will recommend the supernatural rom-com "Out of Body," which is perfect for Halloween week viewing. Author Merry Farmer is here to discuss two books she's releasing this week. First up is the second in her "After the War" historical romance series, "Never Judge a Duke by His Lover." Then the discussion turns to "Peter and the Mission," the fifth book in her fantasy series "Peter and the Wolves." In addition, Merry talks about her love of romance and history, her excitement over creative writing assignments, and what's coming up next. After watching the first episode of Song Kang's highly anticipated new show, Nevertheless, Kim and Maddie break down everything that wasn't working for them (hint: it's a lot of things).
