It's Miriam Shor, y'all! You Might Know Her From Younger, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Magic Hour, GCB, Shortbus, Swingtown, Maestro, American Fiction, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. Miriam gave us all the scoop on grounding the zaniness of Diana Trout on Darren Star's Younger, leading the indie comedy Magic Hour, and appearing in "brilliant but canceled" series like GCB and Swingtown. All that, plus Miriam talked to us about being one of John Cameron Mitchell's "players," appearing in Shortbus and, of course, originating the role of Yitzhak in the Hedwig universe; popping up in prestige Oscar films; her musical theatre roots; New York City history; and dying by way of a paintbrush in The Americans. We just LOVED Miriam. We suffered through it all and we arrived at the conclusion of some of the best/ worst television ever made. We love you "And Just Like That" and we hate you. We never want it to stop even though it remains the best / worst written show of maybe all time? This week we get near death attempts, Shaloin monk hijinks, butt stuff, and Aiden's attempt at crying. It was a juicy episode filled with all the stuff we love to hate but we're really just biding our time until we get the series finale call from SAMANTHA JONES! Samantha goes on a trip to France with her recommendation of the Netflix series Emily in Paris, Indy reflects of the entirety of John Steinbeck's bibliography, including reviews of The Pastures of Heaven, In Dubious Battle, East of Eden, and more, then we get retting for an epic sea voyage with next week's big watch: Moana!  Emily in Paris is an American romantic comedy-drama television series created by Darren Star for Netflix. The series stars Lily Collins as aspiring marketing executive Emily Cooper, an American who moves to Paris to provide an American point of view to a French marketing firm. In Paris, she tries to overcome the challenges that arise within her work, love life, and friendships. The series also stars Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, Ashley Park, Lucas Bravo, Samuel Arnold, Bruno Gouery, Camille Razat, William Abadie, and Lucien Laviscount.   John Ernst Steinbeck (/ˈstaɪnbɛk/; February 27, 1902 – December 20, 1968) was an American writer. He won the 1962 Nobel Prize in Literature "for his realistic and imaginative writings, combining as they do sympathetic humor and keen social perception".[2] He has been called "a giant of American letters." During his writing career, he authored 33 books, with one book coauthored alongside Edward Ricketts, including 16 novels, six non-fiction books, and two collections of short stories. He is widely known for the comic novels Tortilla Flat (1935) and Cannery Row (1945), the multi-generation epic East of Eden (1952), and the novellas The Red Pony (1933) and Of Mice and Men (1937). The Pulitzer Prize–winning The Grapes of Wrath (1939)[5] is considered Steinbeck's masterpiece and part of the American literary canon. In the first 75 years after it was published, it sold 14 million copies. Most of Steinbeck's work is set in central California, particularly in the Salinas Valley and the California Coast Ranges region. His works frequently explored the themes of fate and injustice, especially as applied to downtrodden or everyman protagonists. I Love This You Should Too is hosted by Samantha & Indy Randhawa

This week on Mummy Dearest we unwrap Season 2, Episode 7 of "And Just Like That...". This episode shook us to our very core. There are things we cannot get enough of: LTW's luscious décolletage, LTW's hair, LTW's skin, LTW's attitude. And then there are things we never want to see again: Che as a VET TECH, Che as a stand up comic, Che period. There are things we want to see more of: Miranda becoming a high powered lesbian with other high powered beautiful lesbians (maybe we tie in LTW here?) But the main focus of this week's episode is Aiden. He's back and he's...an SS officer? A member of the new nazi party? A WWII collector? What the hell was his outfit about? Aiden would never have worn anything like that! We get to the bottom of how this happened and we discuss the Drew Barrymore of it all on this week's episode of Mummy Dearest. Support the show

All the things we hated about the first season were dialed up to a 10 in these first two episodes and we have no choice but to applaud the audacity of the writers! They gave us strap-ons, unnecessary racial tensions, budding designers failing to make a simple garment for the MET gala, gay bashing, Hep C, top hats and latex corsets and of course, Tony Danza. Within a week since its release, Netflix's new original series Uncoupled starring Neil Patrick Harris has quickly leapt into the streaming service's top 10. Darren Star, who created Sex and the City, is also behind this show — and there seem to be some similarities. NPR's TV critic Eric Deggans joins us. And, Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Aoife O'Donovan reflects on her musical life (and shouts out to Joni Mitchell) on her new album "Age of Apathy." The singer-songwriter talks about the album, and we revisit our conversation from January.

The new Netflix comedy series Uncoupled stars Neil Patrick Harris as a man whose partner leaves him after 17 years together. The show comes from Darren Star, the prolific producer behind Sex and the City, and Jeffrey Richman, who worked on Modern Family and Frasier. They bring that experience to this new story about being gay and middle-aged and suddenly single.

In podcasting terms, that makes us positively Methuselahian. Since the start of EHG, our listeners have asked if we had a tip jar or donation system and we'd look at each other and say surely that is a joke, people don't pay other people to do podcasts. We'd email them back "Ha ha ha, good one, Chet" and go about our business. Now we are told this is a real thing that real nice people do. Value for value? In today's topsy turvy world? It's madness but that good kind of madness, like when you wake up at 3:15am and clean your house. Or something. In all seriousness, we are humbled by your continued prodding to get a Patreon page up for EHG and here it is! Extra Hot Great on Patreon See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
