Joshua, Jude, and Brendan gather around the podcast bonfire to begin the Notre Dame football ritual of the offseason. In this episode: HELLO! Lawyer letter. REVIEWS! Mount Rushmore of ND beat writers (kind of). Carter Karels deserves special recognition. What game is more important; the Ohio State Buckeyes or the Clemson Tigers? Recapping the NFL Draft. Kevin Austin and Jack Coan. We mention Kyle Hamilton only because of his new uniform colors (which feels very on brand). Notre Dame's 2023 recruiting class is very good. You need to have the chest - NAY THE STOMACH - to recruit a talent like 5-Star quarterback Dante Moore. How should we view recruiting in the NIL era? The friendship of Notre Dame and the BYU Cougars... pure western fanfiction. #ParentRegretMovie or #RegretParentMovie (which ever one). The JFK assassination. And plenty more weaved in and out of the show. Please RATE and REVIEW! All reviews will be read on the next OFD Podcast. Go Irish! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Hello NFL Combine! Jack Coan is going to get drafted. Repeat that over and over. Kevin Austin's big day and what it may mean in the NFL Draft. Kyren Williams did not have a good showing at the combine and now let the debate begin. Kyren's 40 time matters quite a bit but Kyle Hamilton's does not. Getting better with a name. Last summer we were joined by Ashton Pollard, now of Blue and Gold Illustrated fame, to make some 2021 Notre Dame football predictions. This week we looked back at all those predictions and laughed at ourselves a little bit. Marist Liufau - Frank's greatest prediction that never was Kevin Austin playing up to some pre-season optimism despite a rough start to the year One last "play Kyle on offense" rant from Greg (spoiler alert: it probably won't be the last) Really Toledo? Looking back on why that was the worst game of the year in so many ways Who saw Florida State scoring the most points on Notre Dame in the pre-season? No one. No one did. More thoughts on Al Golden as Notre Dame's defensive coordinator What were we thinking with all our OL optimism in the pre-season? What is our top culinary food travel destination? How bad all of our pre-season Heisman finalist predictions were

Shake Down the Numbers: Notre Dame Football Stats and Analytics
Shake Down The Numbers is back for episode 24, as Cooper and Kevin dive into Notre Dame's sleepy but respectful blowout of the Midshipmen. (1:40) Notre Dame had a productive but unusual game on offense, with Notre Dame executing well enough to win but overall showing an unwillingness to attack a leaky and undermanned Navy secondary with consistency. The OL had maybe their best day against the Navy DL, with not one pressure surrendered by an OL. (6:00) Kyren WIlliams has been driving the offense, but Notre Dame can maximize his efficiency by leaning on the run less in obvious situations when the defense is keyed in on him. It didn't hurt the Irish this week, but Cooper and Kevin break down how the Irish offense can create more offense to catch up to the elite scorers in the sport. (10:30) Avery Davis has been a dynamic option for the Irish this year, and has been lost for the year with a torn ACL. While it is exciting to see Freshman Lorenzo Styles will get first crack at taking over the slot, the Irish are down to 5 healthy scholarship receivers and there is some concern about the depth to make it through the season at that position. (13:00) Review of the ND defense vs Navy. Game ball winner Kurt Hinish dominated in his fourth game against Navy, and the Irish DL as a whole was the most dominant and imposing group on the field. (15:30) Virginia preview. The dynamic Cavalier offense has posted some gaudy box scores this season, but their offensive creator and team leader Brennan Armstrong is day to day with injured ribs / core. The Hoos like to push the ball down the field and do so efficiently, which could be a problem for a Notre Dame team that looks like it may be once again missing All-American Kyle Hamilton. The Virginia defense is not nearly as formidable, and Kevin Austin could look to have a big day against their corners. (27:00) Game predictions and Cooper continues to give away gambling advice.
This week CrossView celebrates Freedom Sunday with special guest Kevin Austin. Join Pastor Kyle and Pastor Holly as they discuss the Set Free Movement and Love-Driven Justice.

We were joined on the podcast this week by Irish Sport's Daily's Matt Freeman who talked with us about his early impressions from fall camp after the Irish held their first open practice of the season earlier this week. Matt shared a ton of insights with us as we inch closer and closer to the start of the season. Notre Dame has the look of a SEC team physically Kevin Austin really might be that dude Sneaky Del has the Irish WR room ready for big things - if they can stay healthy Logan Diggs is a smooooth operator and Audric Estime is a big man The defensive line is deep and talented Notre Dame has almost "positionless" linebackers The offensive line is still a work in progress

The main focus of the latest Irish Breakdown podcast was Notre Dame's running back recruiting. I go over why Notre Dame is looking to take two backs, what could cause the Irish to not take two backs and break down the top three backs on the board. Following that analysis we dive into a listener Q&A session in which we cover a long list of topics that includes Jordan Johnson's decision to transfer to Central Florida, Notre Dame's incoming running backs, the importance of the running back position, wide receiver Kevin Austin, going after transfers and much, much more. Notre Dame has plenty of talent at wide receiver heading into the 2021 season, but it's mostly unproven. There are two veteran wideouts - Kevin Austin and Braden Lenzy - who are expected to do big things for the Irish this season. The Irish Breakdown crew debates whose emergence between those two standouts is most important to the team's success in 2021. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
There were a ton of great questions in the latest installment of the Irish Breakdown Mailbag podcast. I probably should have cut it into two shows, there were just so many great questions. But it's one long show, and there's a lot of good content in here. We talk about what Notre Dame needs to do to win a title, issues at quarterback, Ian Book vs. Phil Jurkovec, Kevin Austin, the talented 2021 receiver class, prospect Dont'e Thornton, the Irish offensive line and what needs to happen for the Irish to be able to beat Clemson. That's not even all of the questions, but you just have to listen to get the rest. Subscribe to Irish Breakdown on Soundwise Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
