Sunday's 31–24 loss in Detroit was a bitter pill to swallow, drop-kicking the Jets to a 1–2 record following consecutive weeks of near-misses. Geno Smith put on a masterclass of composure under heavy pressure, throwing for 321 yards and three touchdowns while completing over 83% of his passes to keep New York punching toe-to-toe with the Lions' high-powered attack. However, the heroic downfield efforts of Garrett Wilson and Kenyon Sadiq couldn't hide the fundamental breakdown up front, where the offensive line surrendered five sacks and a relentless 55% pressure rate. Coupled with an invisible front-four pass rush that allowed Jared Goff to stay comfortable and Jahmyr Gibbs to notch three touchdowns, Detroit ultimately won the line of scrimmage when it mattered most. The Giants stun everyone by trading for J.J. McCarthy, immediately raising questions about what the former first-round pick could become under John Harbaugh.
